What Separates Me and You
Chapter 367 A Kiss

"We didn't do anything wrong. Why should we apologize? You were the ones who started the bullying. Is there any justice left?" The man began to vent his anger. "Look, everyone, aren't they the ones bullying us? It's all our fault for not having money or power. It serves us the right to get bullied."

Upon hearing his words, Quintin grew so angry that his mouth twitched. What kind of ridiculous statement was that? Did being poor mean they were always in the right?

However, Lewis wasn't going to indulge him. He said, "Now that you know, I'll give you five seconds to choose. Either kneel and apologize, or ..."

He didn't finish his sentence. Instead, he flashed the man a mysterious smile.

The man thought Lewis' smile was threatening. It was as if Lewis would kill everyone if he didn't apologize.

Yet judging by the chilling aura in Lewis' eyes, the man was right. His two brothers leaned in and whispered a few words in his ear. The man's expression changed as he struggled with inner torment.

He could only embarrass himself before the crowd or quietly die without a trace. Obviously, he had no choice left.

Given Lewis' status, secretly killing him was a piece of cake. Conrad grew impatient. "Will you apologize or not?" Startled by Conrad's shout, the man quickly knelt on his knee. "Yes! I'll apologize!"

The two kids were reluctant, but their father grabbed their hands and whispered, "Kneel down now!"

The man pulled his kids as he spoke. His kids followed suit and knelt on the ground.

The man's two brothers also knelt down, and they all formed a straight line.

"Miss, I'm sorry. I misunderstood you. I shouldn't have laid my hands on you. I was too reckless. I beg you to be generous and show us some mercy. Please don't stoop to our level!" Startled by their actions, Josephine quickly hid behind Quintin.

Lewis' face turned green when he saw her reaction.

Oozing an icy aura that could almost freeze people, Lewis stared coldly at the man on the ground. Due to the cold weather, the man was trembling.

He was shocked. What was going on? He had already apologized. Wasn't that enough?

"You need to be more sincere," Lewis enunciated each word coldly.

The man was stunned, but seeing the murderous gaze in Lewis' eyes, he went all out. He hit his head on the ground three times.

Since he was already kneeling, doing this didn't make much of a difference.

"I'm sorry, miss!"

He also pressed his sons' heads to the ground.

Quintin was at a loss too. After all, he wasn't Lewis. They had already apologized, but he didn't know whether to ask them to stand up or continue making things difficult for them. When he saw the man lay hands on Josephine earlier, he wished he could have killed that idiot.

Turning his head to look at Josephine, he whispered, "Are you still angry?"

Josephine nervously glanced at the people on the ground and shook her head.

Quintin cast a glance at Lewis. Lewis snorted coldly and turned around before walking away from the crowd.

Quintin also couldn't be bothered with the people kneeling on the ground. He pulled Josephine and chased after Lewis.

The onlookers dispersed, and the street returned to its bustling atmosphere. Some people had captured the incident on camera and quickly posted it online.

Lewis was fast, and Conrad had to jog to catch up. Looking at the man's back, one could sense his extreme anger.

Conrad caught up with him and whispered, "Chairman Alvarez, are we going to let this matter drop?"

Lewis didn't even halt. He responded coldly, "Make them disappear."

Conrad widened his eyes and couldn't help but take a sharp breath. Goodness, this was true madness.

He cleared his throat and whispered again, "Chairman Alvarez, calm down. Don't forget our plan. Now is the opportunity to build a favorable impression in front of Mrs. Alvarez." Finally, Lewis stopped walking. He slightly turned his head and looked at Conrad's face. His gaze then shifted to the two people behind him.

Josephine clung to Quintin's arm, puffing her cheeks and seeking comfort with a face full of grievance.

Quintin lovingly touched her bruised face and was thinking about where to buy her some ointment to treat her wounds.

"Tell me, how do we build that impression?" Lewis asked.

Conrad followed Lewis' gaze and suddenly felt like gouging his own eyes. What did he just see?

"Call Damian and ask him to come and take care of them," Lewis said without looking back and walked away.

Conrad agreed and quickly took out his phone. Avoiding Quintin, he called Damian.

Quintin was unaware that his father was on his way to the scene. He bought the toys Josephine had just lost again, along with clothes and ointment for her. After purchasing all the items, he took Josephine to the resort.

The admission fee for the resort was 30 thousand dollars, which included a standard double bed room for one night and three meals a day for seven days.

Of course, these were the standard options. They would have to pay extra if they wanted better food or accommodation.

Quintin booked a suite, which cost 28 thousand dollars per night.

He brought Josephine to the hotel suite, put down their belongings, and walked to the window to check the view. The view was excellent. It was similar to what they saw from the mountains. They had a perfect sight of the entire town.

Quintin pulled Josephine to sit on the sofa and retrieved the ointment before gently applying it to her injured face.

"Does it hurt?" Quintin touched her swollen cheek, feeling the heat radiating from it. It was as if she had a fever.

Josephine shook her head. The ointment had a cooling effect and relieved the burning sensation on her face.

"Hey, if something like this happens again, just call me directly. Don't try to argue with others on your own, okay?" Quintin looked at her with concern.

Feeling guilty, Josephine nodded. She raised her hand and touched the corner of Quintin's mouth, realizing he had also gotten injured because of her.

He held her hand and flashed her a bright smile. "It's okay. I'm not hurt. Don't worry."

She pursed her lips, her eyes slightly reddening.

Seeing her like this, Quintin quickly comforted her. "I'm really okay. Don't cry."

He held her in his arms and patted her back gently. "There, there. It's alright."

Her clothes were fluffy, and her hair was too. Holding her felt like hugging a plush toy but with a more tangible sensation. Not to mention she smelled better than a toy.

Her soft hair brushed against his neck, gently tickling him.

Quintin caught a whiff of the scent from her hair and subconsciously gulped.

"Josephine..." Quintin called out her name hoarsely.

She released herself from his embrace and stared at him intently, her dark eyes shining brightly.

The two were very close, with only a finger's width of distance between them. Quintin could see the fine fuzz at her hairline.

Her innocent and pure expression made it hard for Quintin to restrain himself.

He stuttered, "C-Can I ... kiss you?"

As soon as he finished speaking, he realized his mistake and wanted to slap himself. Wasn't he taking advantage of the situation?

However, Josephine blinked her eyes and leaned forward before giving him a peck on the cheek.

Instantly, Quintin's whole body tensed up. His eyes widened as he touched the spot Josephine kissed. It felt as if the warmth of her lips still lingered on his cheek. He felt like he was flying high in the clouds. Subconsciously, he moved closer to Josephine, his eyes fixed on her lips and his heart beating rapidly.

Quintin had never kissed a girl before. He was nervous and excited now. Just one kiss, just one ... It wouldn't be considered as taking advantage of the situation.

At that moment, an ear-splitting bang echoed through the room.
