Who Is My Husband -
Scene 68
Bethany searched Sorsha’s eyes as she studied her. She was trying to figure out exactly how she would have any clue who Kailee was. Was she just guessing, or did she really know? And how?
Sorsha smiled. I would obviously know who she is because my magic recognizes it’s master. Shadow dragons were gifted by the unicorns. Which is why the Order hunted us down.
Bethany was about to say something else when she watched Kailee drop to her knees.
“Kailee?!” Bethany knelt next to her. Her hands were shaking, and she was squeezing her chest. She watched as her eyes changed colors. They changed into an almost darker brown. She watched as pure rage swept over her face as she rose to her feet.
Kailee at first wasn’t sure what she was feeling. She was instinctually pushing her shield out towards Trey since she felt nervous today. That was when her shield was struck with something. A force that was meant to hit Trey. She set her jaw as she rose to her feet. Who the hell tried to injure her mate? As her anger rose the clouds began to sway angrily along with her. The wind hissed and picked up speed.
Bethany looked around knowing this was being caused by Kailee. She could see the anger on her face but wasn’t sure why. “Kailee…”
“Someone tried to hurt Trey.” Kailee flipped her dark eyes up to Bethany. She felt her energy lash against her in anger as it began seeking out their target like a dog on the trail. Then when it found its target it surged out of her like a sonic boom. She felt her energy flash out from her. Unlike the first time Kailee used this she was no longer shaking from using her power. She no longer had a magic cuff on her wrist that inhibited her. She had grown accustomed to her powers that now flowed freely inside of her. Plus, now she was awake. Her magic was fully awakened and was just as possessive over their mate.
“What was that?” Edith gasped out, raising her hands up to her mouth. She felt a powerful energy from Kailee and had no idea how she could be so strong. She stood there quiet for a moment. “You said Trey is in trouble?”
Sorsha looked over at Edith. “I think that should be ‘was’ in trouble…”
“I’m going.” Kailee said in a neutral tone as she started walking towards the many buildings beyond the castle.
“Kailee I don’t think-” Bethany started but Kailee shut her up with just a look.
“I will not tolerate anyone trying to hurt my important people. I will not wait here when I can easily remedy any trouble. I’m going.” Kailee said in a chilled tone. She didn’t mean to lash out at Bethany, but she was livid. Someone had tried to hurt Trey. And what about the others? Was he still in trouble? Did she take care of whoever the attacker was?
Bethany smiled and nodded her head. “Of course, I wouldn’t expect anything different.”
Sorsha whistled. “I’m coming with you.” She then turned to Edith. “Best you head back into the safety of the castle walls.”
Edith sighed. “I’m not sure what is going on but… please be careful.”
“Don’t worry. We will be fine. I’ll be bringing Trey back with me.” Kailee said as she started taking commanding steps ahead. The other two women followed behind her. This was absurd. She should have been with Trey from the very beginning. No more. She wasn’t going to allow this to continue. They needed to eliminate the spies they knew of and let the rest fall to ruin. They wouldn’t be a problem anymore with the Order gone. And now she knew how to get rid of the Order… it was to get rid of Bane.
They watched Edith until she was back into the safety of the upper courtyard before they made their way down the path.
Bethany glanced up at the dark clouds in the sky. Just a moment ago the clouds were white and fluffy. Now they were dark and foreboding. She reached over and put her hand on Kailee as they walked. “I’m sure everything is fine.”
“I think you are incredible.” Sorsha said as she slipped up closer to them.
“I think you are incredible.” Sorsha said as she slipped up closer to them.
Kailee stopped walking for a second and turned to look at Sorsha. “You know you don’t have to dedicate your life to me or anything. I’d be happy just to add another friend to our group just for the sake of adding a friend.”
Sorsha smiled. “I will be both. Trust me Kailee. This is what I want. No one makes me do what I don’t want to do. But from what I was able to gather and observe… Edith’s son Trey is your mate? Is that correct?”
Kailee nodded her head and continued walking. “Yes, he is.”
Sorsha smiled. “It is actually almost too perfect. You two being together is like a big puzzle finally being pieced together.”
Bethany nodded her head. “It is. But for those who know…” She gave Sorsha a look with a hint of warning.
“Not to worry. My lips are sealed. This just makes so much sense now though…” Sorsha said.
“What do you mean?” Bethany asked as she furrowed her eyebrows tilting her head to look at Sorsha more.
“It makes sense that I was led here. I think I’ve been waiting for Kailee.” Sorsha looked upwards at the clouds that were still swirling angrily.
Kailee trotted down a set of stone stairs and then followed down a stone path. Her heart was racing along with her. She couldn’t relax until she could see everyone was okay. She continued to keep Trey shielded as she tried to focus on replaceing his energy. The sound of screams was soon heard as people began running in their direction.
“Run!” One of the women yelled as she ran past them.
“Hurry get out of here!” A man urged the women, stopping for a moment in front of them.
“What’s going on?” Kailee asked.
“There’s been a rip in the world. Creatures from the spirit world are pouring into this world. We can’t do anything. Just run! Better yet… we need to fly away from here.” The man said and took off.
Kailee began to run but only in the direction where everyone else was running from. She weaved in and out between bodies. She winced as someone clipped her with their shoulder. Bethany leaped in front of Kailee while Sorsha appeared from the shadow by her side.
“Follow behind me.” Bethany ordered as she used herself to create a safe path for Kailee. The three women raced down the stone path until it emptied out into a lower field section. The path led away from the city central and the sound of dragons roaring shook the sky. The field was ablaze with fire and smoke as several dragons were trying to hold off creatures from the other world.
Kailee looked around frantically until she spotted Trey’s black dragon. Grum’s red dragon, Lance’s green dragon and Reggie’s orange dragon were all standing in line together. They were blocking the creatures from entering the city. Soon loud bells were being rung in the distance alerting the soldiers there was an invasion.
It was at this same moment a familiar fire flew down to her from the sky.
“Sparks?!” Kailee breathed out.
This is bad Kailee. It’s very bad. You’ve got to seal the tear. Before Bane comes out. Force those creatures back into the spirit world and disconnect the worlds.
Kailee had no idea why Sparks was even there but there wasn’t time to question him either. There was a very real threat of Bane emerging. On top of that the dragons were having a difficult time holding the spirit creatures back.
Kailee looked back to Bethany and Sorsha who nodded and shifted into their dragons. Sorsha’s dragon was like a solid black dragon with black smoke emitting off of her body.
“Protect the city. I’m going to try to fix this.” Kailee said and sprinted ahead. Sparks flew at her side as they made haste. Instead of running towards Trey she ran straight up the middle to where she could feel the flux of energy.
“I think you are incredible.” Sorsha said as she slipped up closer to them.
Time to really tap into your magic, Kailee. You can do this. I’ll be right here with you. Sparks landed next to her. His embers drifted in the air as the wind began to pick up.
Kailee could feel the elements around her responding to her. The wind rushed in front of her and formed a barrier between the spirit creatures and the dragons. She even pushed the dragons farther backwards to form a bigger gap between them. She felt the presence moments before a loud thump landed behind her. She knew Trey was at her side now.
A white light flowed over Kailee and flowed out of her like white clouds with sun shining through them. She noticed the spirit creatures all halted and were no longer trying to advance.
They know… Sparks breathed out in awe. The creatures of the spirit world were able to recognize the purest of lights in this world. He watched as they slowly backed up. The wind swirled around them angrily as leaves and dust particles drifted in the air.
Kailee felt Trey’s dragon come closer to her as he stood behind her in a protective stance. Then another soldier crashed down beside Trey frantically.
“My lord there is another tear up on the outskirts of the castle. Your father is leading the front lines. They are struggling to hold them off.” The other dragon said in a panic.
Kailee listened as Trey snarled angrily. “Go, Trey. I’ve got this here. Go and hold them off. I’ll come as soon as I seal the tear here.” She glanced back at Trey who didn’t budge. “Trey, your parents need you right now. Go… please.”
Bethany and Sorsha landed up behind Trey having finished off the remaining vicious spirit creatures. The timid ones retreated back to the tear.
Trey stared at the new dragon as he hesitated.
“Trey, I can’t concentrate on what I need to do here. Go. And take the others with you. I’ll have Bethany and Sorsha here with me.” Kailee tilted her head and smiled at him. Her eyes pleaded with him as she nudged her head in the direction towards the castle. “Go.” She mouthed.
He snorted smoke through his nose before he bellowed loudly in frustration. He flapped his wings pushing gusts of air below him taking to the sky. The same time he did, the remaining dragons left with him. Grum, Lance and Reggie flew over head slowly before quickly flapping to catch up to Trey.
Kailee smiled and refocused back on driving the creatures back. She knew it was painfully tough for Trey to leave her. Hell, she wanted him close to her as well. But this was a moment where they had to split their strengths. Kailee could do what they couldn’t and that was to seal the tears between the worlds. Plus, the creatures seemed to lose their fight when Kailee began to come forward. She needed to seal this hold quickly so she could rejoin Trey.
When the last creature retreated into the hole, she began to focus her energy on sealing the hole. She told her magic what she wanted and could feel a prickly tingling feeling on her fingertips. To her surprise, the hole had sealed quickly, and it was fairly easy for her to do. She sighed and turned to look at Sparks and the two dragons who were just behind her.
Loud screams were heard in the far distance in the complete opposite direction.
“Oh no.” Kailee said as she looked in horror at the other side of the city. In the distance, she could see a huge frog and several other creatures in the sky.
There is another tear… Sparks said. This is the work of the Order.
