“Look right now there are things that need to get taken care of so we can prepare to leave. Sparks… or August… why don’t you let the forest realm know about Bane so they can be on standby. We will meet you back near Clover Estates tomorrow. I need to check in with my parents and brief them over the situation.” Trey looked over at the phoenix and nodded for him to go. There was no use arguing about this. He would talk with Kailee a little more but right now she was a bit sensitive after replaceing out Sparks was actually her grandfather’s consciousness.

The phoenix took off into the sky and then Trey turned to look at Grum and Lance. “Why don’t you guys spend this time with your mates.”

“We will stay with Kailee for now. You will probably be talking with your parents on your own and this way she isn’t alone.” Bethany smiled and looked over at Kailee. It was obvious she looked upset and now was not the time for her to be on her own.

Trey smiled in appreciation. “Thank you. I won’t be too long. I just need to explain what happened now and that we will be going after Bane. With as little details on that as possible.” He glanced at Kailee. He leaned down to her head and tenderly kissed the top of her hair.

Lance walked over and reached out his hand to Kailee. “It’s you and me again. Good times, right?” Lance grinned widely and was happy to see her smile in return.

Trey squeezed Kailee into him once more. “Baby, thank you for all your help today. I can honestly say we couldn’t have made it without you.” He gazed into her eyes. I can’t make it without you Kailee… remember that. He linked into her mind and kissed her forehead once more before handing her off to Lance. With one last look, he walked away from her heading towards the castle.

Kailee watched Trey leave. She knew he was worried about her going against Bane, but she had no intention of dying. She also felt like she had to try. She couldn’t live with herself if she just killed Bane. Killing Bane would be killing both of her grandparents. She had to try. And she honestly felt like it was what she was supposed to do. She was meant to purify Bane and bring them both back she was certain of it.

“So, what sort of trouble do we want to get into? Should we let a bull loose? Hop into a burning building? Jump in the lake?” Lance grinned down at Kailee.

She smiled and looked up at Lance. “Well, I am still trying to master skipping stones…”

“No! Anything but that.” Bethany teased.

“Now now. I am her original master. And I say there is still hope for her.” Lance straightened up his posture trying to look wise. “However, I am thinking given the day we have had perhaps we should take it easy for the rest of this evening?”

Kailee nodded her head as a small yawn escaped her lips. She did feel a bit worn from the day and she was sure they were tired as well. “Tea and cakes it is then?”

“Tea and cakes sound wonderful.” Grum said grinning.

Trey sat across from his parents and quietly waited after he explained everything to them. Well, almost everything. He never went into detail about who Kailee is.

“I’m worried. If Bane is going to be revived, we need to prepare for war against the creature.” Richard said with his brows furrowed.

“No dad. We are going to head there tomorrow. We will take care of Bane. He will not become a problem.” Trey could see his father shaking his head in disagreement.

“No son you don’t understand he is too powerful.” Richard tapped his fingers on the table as he tried to think of a solution. Edith however stayed quiet and observed the two. Her mind had already been in deep thought about Kailee. Even more so with Sorsha pledging her allegiance to her so quickly.

“You will of course be leaving Kailee here in our protection, right?” Edith said as she set up the trap.

“No.”

Edith smiled as Trey answered. “And why are you keeping such a thing like your mate a secret from us? Do you not trust us?”

Trey stared at her blankly. His mother was too clever for her own good. “The fewer people who know about Kailee the better. She is my treasure and I want to keep her secret.”

“I understand. But your father and I would never divulge such a secret. And knowing who she is… she is even more precious to me now.” Edith looked at her son’s green eyes. He seemed to be studying her wondering if she really knew. They were in their soundproof room and it wasn’t like she would keep this secret from her husband. So, she went ahead and said it out loud.

“I had my suspicions when Sorsha jumped to Kailee’s side instantly. But just now you confirmed it by taking her with you. She is a unicorn, isn’t she?” Edith watched Richard perk up and look over at Trey. Trey remained stoic with his stone face. He stared back at them and let out a sigh.

“I expect that this knowledge will not leave this room. Right?” Trey frowned slightly as he looked between both of his parents.

Richard reached over and grabbed Edith’s hand and smiled at his son. “You have a strong bond with her don’t you, my son?”

“Of course I do she is my mate.” Trey looked at his dad in confusion. Wasn’t it only natural to be that bonded?

Richard shook his head. “Just because someone is your mate doesn’t mean your bond is extremely strong. Some bonds are breakable or can be damaged with doubt. You and Kailee don’t seem to have that issue at all. You both trust each other completely. A trusted bond like that is powerful. And I can’t tell you how happy this makes your mother and I. Of course, her secret is safe between us. She is our family now too.”

“Get this Bane situation taken care of quickly so you can give me grandchildren to play with.” Edith smiled and watched as her son’s ear turned red.

“I mean we haven’t really talked about a timeline for children yet.” Trey cleared his throat and gave his parents a crooked grin.

“There is no time like the present. Besides you need to preserve her line right?” Richard grinned. “I wonder how that will work out. Which species will reign? Would they be both dragon and unicorn? Or would one dominate over the other?”

“I guess we will replace out.” Edith chuckled lightly.

“If you can handle everything else, I would like to spend this time with Kailee. We will leave tomorrow and have a lot we need to discuss.” Trey stood up from his chair and turned to walk to the door.

“Don’t worry about everything here. Thanks to you and your mate the kingdom remains intact, and we only suffered a few casualties. Just… take care of her and yourself.” Richard watched his son nod his head before he walked out of the door. He turned and looked at Edith.

“You do realize what this means right?” Richard said quietly.

“Yes… Complete unity for the kingdom. The two of them were a match made in heaven I am certain of it.” Edith said with a small smile on her face.

Trey smiled as he walked into the room down the hall. He was relieved to see Kailee looking so normal. And it wasn’t just an act. She was genuinely smiling and laughing at something. He slowly made his way up to them. He needed to have some time with hit mate.

Kailee laughed as Bethany swatted at Grum after Lance told her the stories about him giving Kailee spicy food. She then felt a pair of warm arms slide around her from behind. She lifted her head up meeting with her favorite green eyes.

“Please excuse us. I’m stealing this one.” Trey said lifting Kailee up to her feet. “Thank you for keeping her company.” He looked at Lance and the other two with a small nod. Then he led Kailee out from the room and back to their bedroom.

He led her out to the balcony where he pulled her onto his lap on a wooden bench. He kept his arms wrapped around her and held her quietly for a few moments. There was a slight breeze in the air as the last of the sun ducked behind the tree line.

“Mom and dad know who you are, but they won’t say anything. Mom figured it out on her own.”

Kailee leaned her head into his chest and smiled. “Your mom is a very clever person. I figured she would figure it out eventually.”

Trey pressed his lips into the top of Kailee’s head. “I won’t leave your side for a moment tomorrow. No matter what… we will face this together. Let our fates be intertwined together.”

“I’m sorry I am not going straight for the kill. I just… I can’t. I have to try.”

“Shhh… you don’t have to explain yourself to me Kailee. I trust you. I believe in you. I just can’t lose you… I won’t lose you. I can’t live in this world without you. I love you.” He gently spun her around on his lap and cover her lips with his. Her soft warm lips tasted amazing, and he knew he would never get enough of her k****s. Not in this lifetime, not in an eternity of lifetimes. He smiled into her lips as he slowly pulled away. “Mom and dad want us to give them grandbabies soon.”

Kailee giggled. “Is that right?”

“Yeah, that is right.” Trey nipped at her bottom l*p and pulled it gently. “What should we do about that?”

“You can tell your parents they can have grandchildren as soon as their son gets the job done.” Kailee giggled as Trey tightened his grip on her. She felt herself being lifted up and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

“I see. Well, then I’ll remedy that right now.” Trey said in a low hoarse tone as he carried her to the bed. He gently placed her on the soft mattress and then climbed in next to her. “Kailee.” His hot breath beat against her lips. “I won’t worry about tomorrow.” His eyes rested on hers. “Because I believe in you and our future together. So let’s not think of anything else.”

Kailee smiled and nodded. She reached her fingers up and ran them through his hair watching him close his eyes at her touch. “I love you, Trey.” She gripped his hair and tugged him closer closing the gap between them. She pushed their lips together as his body leaned into her more. Soon she was laying on the bed and his body was covering over hers.

He passionately kissed her as he interlaced their fingers together. He trailed his hot k****s over her cheek and down her neck, flicking his tongue out and savoring her taste. He wouldn’t think about what could happen because he couldn’t handle it. He knew he could not go on without her. He always thought he was strong and that he was tough. But when it came to her he suddenly realized he wasn’t. He couldn’t live without her. She was his heart. She was vital to his existence.

Tonight, there was no impending battle except for the one they would have in the bed. Tonight, they would spend the evening in each other’s arms. Exploring every inch of each other. They would fill each other’s hearts up with their love and tenderness. And hopefully, Trey would also be filling her with their future.
