Who Is My Husband -
Scene 73
Trey walked out of the castle the next morning holding Kailee’s hand. Everyone was already waiting in the courtyard waiting to depart. A fresh red mark was seen on Sorsha’s neck as she was being held tenderly by Reggie’s side. Lance had left Lizzie in the safety of the castle while Grum and Bethany waited together hand in hand as well.
“We are going to be backups for Kailee. This is her show here. She is the only one who has the real power to deal with Bane. We will do our best to shield her so that she can do what she needs to do. I have a feeling we will not be alone there. Surely members of the Order… the ones not frozen.” Trey said with a smirk. “Surely some will be there near the tomb. We must be ready for whatever may come our way.”
Kailee leaned into Trey’s side as she looked at her family in front of her. She would make sure she protected them. It wasn’t about protecting the world to her. It was about protecting HER world. The people who made life worth living. She didn’t know everyone in the world. But she did know these amazing people in front of her. And she would sacrifice everything for them.
“Sorsha, we technically haven’t been introduced.” Trey said with a smile. “Glad to have you part of our group.”
“Thank you. I’m happy to be part of the group too.” Sorsha said as Reggie smiled down at her in adoration.
Reggie didn’t need to say anything. When his eyes met with Treys the words never needed to be spoken. There was a silent understanding and Trey could see how smitten Reggie already was with his mate. As he should be. That was the natural order of things for dragons.
Reggie held Sorsha’s body close to his. Overnight a bond had fastened between the two of them. The two talked a lot, getting to know each other. They also spent a lot of time getting to physically know one another. A bonded trust formed between them, and a possessiveness grew in Reggie that he never knew he had. He never understood it before, but he did now. Dragons were protective over their treasures, and she was his treasure. A mate was the greatest treasure any dragon could have.
“Alright. Let’s head back to Clover Estate.” Trey grinned and wrapped his arms around Kailee. He lifted her body up in the air and used his dragon strength to toss her upwards. Then he quickly shifted into his dragon so that she landed on his back. He turned his head and inwardly smiled as he looked at her face.
“I should put you on ice for that.” Kailee bit her bottom l*p and giggled.
“We can play with ice later.” Trey said in a suggestive tone as he spread out his wings. He looked back at the others who had shifted into their dragons. “Let’s make haste.”

Kailee could see Sparks… well August waiting for them as they arrived. It was weird coming home but not. This wouldn’t be her home after this, but it was the place where home began for her. Trey lowered her and shifted immediately. She began to fall but landed in his warm hands. She grinned up at him as he chuckled down at her.
“Someone is in a playful mood today.” Lance chuckled as he walked up beside them. “I guess you must have had a good night.” He winked over at Trey who only smiled.
“Where is the tomb located? How close is Bane to it?” Kailee asked, turning her attention towards Sparks.
But before he could answer Will and Phill came out. “You’re back!” Will said trotting over. He looked over at Reggie and the girl he held dearly at his side and smirked. “Looks like I missed a lot.”
“Actually, you did. Bane’s spirit is heading this way to reunite with his body.” Lance said and watched as both men’s jaws dropped.
August flapped his wings making little embers waft into the air. Bane will be at the site soon. The problem is there are already demons there waiting to protect the area.
“We figured there would be followers of the order at the site. That’s where we come in.” Trey said as he motioned his hand over the collected dragons around them.
“That is where we come in too.” A loud voice boomed. They turned their heads to see Alistair and Oliver walking up to them. “We already have our men waiting near the area.”
“Oh look, it is the man who kissed the dragon’s mate.” Bethany teased looking at Oliver.
“Beth quit trying to get me killed.” Oliver ran his hand through his hair. He then looked straight at Trey. “There are more than just the elite members of the order there. It seems like a small army of darkness has gathered for this moment. We are going to have a fight on our hands.”
“Did you really k**s Kailee?” Reggie asked and listened to the low growl that came from Trey’s throat. Bethany giggled and curled up into Grum’s side.
“I don’t see how this relates to what we are talking about. But I didn’t really k**s her…” Oliver said nervously and cleared his throat.
“But you did put your lips on hers?” Reggie asked and smirked as he saw the muscles in Trey’s arms flex.
“He had to deliver the antidote to me by mouth so that I could receive my powers.” Kailee said brushing the situation off.
“How did that feel? Ooof.” Reggie asked but received an elbow in the stomach from Sorsha.
“Really Reg?” Sorsha tilted her head to him and gave him a side smile.
“What I am just fueling him for the fight. He can use that anger against our enemies.” Reggie said innocently.
“Uh huh.” Sorsha shook her head. She wasn’t buying it. She leaned closer to Reggie and whispered near his ear. “Behave.” She let her hot breath sizzle him slightly and she smiled as she watched him shudder from it.
Lance chuckled. “I see there is someone who can actually tame Reggie down some.”
August squawked angrily. They were all joking around during this serious matter.
“We all know what is at stake here. But that doesn’t mean we should sit around solemnly waiting for it to happen.” Kailee stared at the phoenix with fire in her eyes. She still was upset about not being told who he really was. And he had no business to scold them for trying to enjoy the moment before all hell broke loose.
August nodded his head in understanding. The tomb is located up past the old mills. Near the rock cliff at the forest’s edge. What course of action do you plan to take?
“I think it is best to head there now. We need to fight the army waiting for us there and hopefully have that taken care of before Bane gets here.” Trey said just as a loud horn sounded in the distance.
Impossible. August said lifting up to the sky he flew high in the sky where he hovered for a moment. He then dove down and hovered in front of them. There is no time. Somehow Bane is heading this way already. He will be at the site soon. I don’t know how. He shouldn’t have made it here already…
“Alright.” Trey turned and looked at his group. “Bane is here already. There is no time. We are going to have to head right into it. You two said you have men there already? Do you want a lift?”
“Yes, that would be faster for us.” Alistair said as Oliver paled. Alistair slapped him on the back. “Time for war, friend.”
Trey tugged Kailee into him and smashed his lips against hers urgently and hard. “I love you Kailee.” She smiled up at him and nodded her head.
“I love you too. Now let’s go and secure our future.” Kailee brushed her thumb over Trey’s cheek as his eyes started to change colors. Then his whole body shifted into his black dragon.
Kailee climbed up onto Trey’s back and soon they were all up in the sky. Alistair was on top of Lance while Oliver was on Grum’s back.
“Kailee.” Trey said as they flew towards their destination. The wind rushed past them as they flew with urgency. “Don’t worry about shielding me. Save your strength for what you need to do.”
Kailee smiled and rubbed her fingers over his scales. “You aren’t telling me what to do are you? I wonder how that will work out for you.”
“I’m serious Kailee. You are going to need your energy for what you are trying to do.”
“Don’t worry Trey. I will succeed.” Her voice was soft as she swirled her fingertips over him. “You fight against the enemies there and leave Bane to me. They will need your help… Trey… you have to.”
“You don’t know how badly I just want to take off flying in the other direction. I want to fly away from this world and take you to one of our own. I’m having to fight against my instincts by bringing you to danger.” Trey’s dragon tensed under Kailee as he forcefully pushed forward.
“I don’t want you in danger either. How about we make this the last battle for a while? Let’s not make this a regular thing?” Kailee smiled as she felt his vibrations under her from laughing.
“Agreed.”
“And if you get war hungry and need to fight I’ll be your opponent whenever you want.” Kailee smiled as she listened to his growl of approval.
“That’s a battle I’ll engage in anytime. Because I can never lose that one. If I win I win and if I lose mmmm I still win.” Trey growled.
“Umm we can hear you. You know that right?” Reggie said with a chuckle.
“Doesn’t bother me.” Trey said simply.
“Yeah, but I’m betting that little tulip on your back is beat red right about now.” Lance laughed and he was right. She even reached up and covered her face with her hand.
“Her ears are red too.” Reggie chuckled.
August flew up near Trey. There is a field just up ahead. Bane will be heading right through that field. Best to drop Kailee off there away from the hot spot. The battle will take place just at the edge of the field. This should place her just far enough away that she can concentrate on the battle before her.
As they drew closer, they could hear the sounds of a battle already ensuing. The sound of wolves snarling and swords clashing echoed over the winds.
“Damn. Our men are already fighting. They must have been seen.” Alistair looked over at Oliver worried.
“You guys go on ahead. I’ll drop Kailee off first.” Trey ordered and the dragons split off. The massive black dragon continued on solo as he slowly lowered to the middle of the field. At the other end he could see the fighting. He swallowed hard when he saw the large masses of their enemy. His claws sunk into the earth, and he turned his head to help Kailee off of his back. He stared at her as he felt his conflicted body being torn in two places.
Kailee smiled and reached her hand out to touch his nose. “Don’t you dare lose. Win this fight for me. And I’ll win for you.” She leaned forward and brushed her lips on the side of his face. “I love you Trey.”
Trey blew smoke out of his nose angrily as he took a step back. He had to fight against himself to leave her side. “Fine. We will save the world this time but next time the world can replace another hero. We are done after this.” He growled and flapped his wings keeping his eyes on his mate.
“Deal.” Kailee’s hair blew backwards from the gust of wind he created. She watched him lift off and fly towards the far end of the field. His gaze stayed on her until he entered the battlefield. August lowered beside her and looked off in the distance.
Are you sure you don’t want to just end this Kailee? It will be faster to just kill Bane. Think of how many may be injured or worse while you try to purify the body?
“I know… I know what is at stake.” A loud roar was heard in the distance and Kailee looked to the thick cover of trees in front of her. Her eyes widened as a dark creature moved like the wind. A dark cloud swept past her and dove straight into the ground near the cliffside.
So that is how he moved so fast. He turned his form into smoke… Brace yourself, Kailee. You are about to meet the true form of Bane.
As August said this the ground began to shake as the earth split open. From the fissure, a darkness began to slowly emerge.
