Who Is My Husband -
Scene 76: The End
“Wait, let me explain something first.” Corra said, looking at the unicorn in front of her, her granddaughter. “We are desired. Hunted. There will always be a target on our backs. If you go to the castle, you will be broadcasting to the world who you are. We are not just talking about a battle here and there. We are talking about the world knowing who you are and where to replace you. In a sense, you will put the kingdom in danger.” She then looked at Trey. “You are the future king. You can’t abandon your position. Also… you will be expected to produce an heir. And given the situation…” She knew she wasn’t making friends here, but she was trying to share her wisdom at this moment.
“And what if she is already pregnant?” Trey growled lowly. He wasn’t having it. Reggie could have the damn crown. He didn’t want it if he couldn’t have Kailee.
“And if she is, do you want her constantly in the middle of a war?” Corra asked, keeping a firm gaze on Trey. Trey’s eyes flickered darker as his anger rose.
“Enough.” Kailee said, stomping her hoof into the ground. She gazed at her grandmother. “I understand perfectly well what you are saying. And there is a lot of wisdom and logic in your words. However, when it comes to your mate even you put logic aside. Which is why you ended up sealed in darkness.” She tilted her head to her grandmother and if she was in her human form, she would be giving her a wry smile.
“You are right. Perhaps maybe learn from my mistakes instead of making them yourself?” Corra asked with a small frown.
August instead put his hand on Corra’s shoulder and shook his head no. “We would never separate in the same situation.” He smiled as he looked at Kailee. “I’ve watched her grow up. I know the person she is, and she is just as stubborn as you are Corra. Just like Meera was. They will make the decision that is best for them.”
“Thank you.” Kailee nodded her head and looked over at Trey.
I told you before and I will say it again. My place is with you. I don’t care where we are as long as I am with you. Trey smiled at her as he stroked the side of her neck gently.
Kailee giggled. We are a really odd couple when you think about it.
Trey scoffed and looked at her with disapproving eyes. Only because you are stuck in your form. There are many who shift who are with other species. Just because you are stuck as a unicorn doesn’t change things.
Actually, it changes a lot of things. I no longer can curl up next to you in bed. And it also changes other things…
Trey shook his head. We will make it work Kailee. If I have to live a life of abstinence from here on out, then so be it.
“My lady.” Hawkins said as he walked up to them from behind. “Forgive me, my ladies.” He said noticing Corra.
“Hawkins, I see you are alive and well.” Corra said, smiling at him.
“Us goblins lost our way for a while after we thought… well after we thought there were no longer unicorns in the world. But we made a mistake that we will never make again…” Hawkins looked over at Kailee. “The Order is finished. There are still demons who remain that will seek you out now. Some demons have escaped and will whisper your existence in hell. You will do best to hide as a human and not be in your unicorn form.”
“I’m afraid she is stuck as a unicorn. It is the way our power works.” Corra said quietly.
Hawkins tilted his head and studied the unicorn in front of him. “Ah… but is it the way her power works?” He smiled as he reached his hand out to Kailee. When she nodded her head giving him permission, he touched her nose gently. He smiled and nodded his head. “Yes… I think she can change back if she chooses.”
Corra shook her head adamantly. “No, there is no use. It can’t work. Unicorns can’t shift back into a human.” Her eyes suddenly widened as she looked at Hawkins. “Of course. Of course!” She walked up to Kailee and touched the top of her head. A large smile spread over her face. “I guess being inside of that darkness for so long has made me less sharp.”
Trey was practically holding his breath as he waited for someone to explain. He watched as Corra backed up and smiled at him and Kailee. “Unicorns can’t shift freely. But Kailee isn’t just a unicorn. She is also part tree spirit. But more than that. She is part druid from her father. And her father’s ability was a shapeshifter. Feeling Kailee’s magic there is a connection with the druid side. She should be able to shift at will. Hawkins is right she should be able to shift back if she chooses it.”
Kailee looked at Hawkins and her grandmother. Was it really so simple as her choosing her form? She wasn’t even thinking about shifting back into a human since she had been told it was impossible. But was that all she needed to do? She thought about how she shifted into her unicorn form. This time she saw her human body standing there, waiting for her. The moment her human fingers touched her she felt her body begin to change.
She felt a strong pair of arms embrace her body tightly and she opened her eyes. She smiled as she looked up to Trey. She could see his wet eyes and that made her eyes water in response.
“You are the only unicorn who will be able to change at will Kailee. It has never happened before. Your mother being with a druid was not a coincidence.” Corra said, looking at August. “And who knows what this will mean for your children.” She smiled as she wondered over the possibilities.
“I don’t think I am ever going to let go of you.” Trey whispered, leaning his head into Kailee’s. He squeezed his eyes shut and released the breath he had been holding. The idea he would never get to hold her like this again had pained him more than he realized. And now feeling her small body in his arms made him realize how much he would have missed it.
“Don’t worry Trey. I am never going to let you go either.” Kailee smiled up at him and closed her eyes as he pressed his lips into hers.
“So we won! We won and everything turned out okay.” Reggie wrapped his arm around Sorsha. “I guess this means we are leaving this place for good then. No more home at Clover Estate.”
“You aren’t going to resume your duties as the lord there?” Grum asked, looking at Reggie.
“No. My place is with Sorsha, Trey and Kailee. Will and Phill can take over Clover Estate if they want. But there isn’t a need to now. My father was only there to keep an eye on the Bane situation. And that isn’t a thing anymore.” Reggie sighed with relief. He couldn’t believe everything had worked out so well.
“Still, it may be a good idea to have dragons in the area. Of course, now that Bane isn’t an issue, magical creatures can once again migrate to the area and live.” Grum said thoughtfully.
“Will and Phill are welcome to take over Clover Estate if they choose to. If not, I’ll see if someone else wishes to. I think it is a good idea to have an ambassador here of sorts.” Trey looked down at Kailee. “Are you ready to go home? Home home. As my princess and future queen?” He kissed the tip of her nose as she giggled.
“Okay but none of this stuffy princess and queen stuff. And I hope there is someone there that makes sweet buns like Cookie does.” Kailee said and listened to Lance laugh.
“I’m afraid she is hooked.” Lance chuckled, grinning widely.
“Kailee.” Corra said and reached out to take her hand in hers. “My sweet granddaughter. You know where we will be. We will always be here for you. We learned our lesson and August will not be leaving the forest after this. Had he stayed in the forest in the first place he never would have had his heart corrupted by demons.” She squeezed Kailee’s hand. “We are so proud of you. Come and visit us soon.”
“We will.” Kailee smiled and leaned back into Trey. She looked back at everyone and smiled. “Okay, let’s go home.

A couple months later…
Edith and Richard stepped down as the ruling family. They were still around but handed their titles over. Trey was now the king and Kailee was the queen of Monog. Things were quite hectic for a while but finally, they have managed to work out how they wanted to rule the kingdom. The evenings were a special time for the couple because it was a time set aside for just the two of them.
Kailee stood on the dock and stared out over the body of water. She was full of focus and determination as she rubbed the cold object with her thumb. I can do this. She told herself as she breathed in deeply. She wound her arm back and then swung forward releasing the object in her hand. She watched as the stone jumped off of the water’s surface four times before sinking.
“I did it!” She squealed with happiness as her body was lifted up and twirled in the air.
“I knew you could do it.” Trey slowly lowered her to the ground and pulled her into a deep embrace.
“It only took a couple months of you bringing me down here everyday but yes I finally did it.” Kailee couldn’t wait to rub it in Reggie and Lance’s smug faces. Heck even Bethany had given up on her.
Reggie and Sorsha were inseparable. After coming back to the kingdom, the two spent all their time together. And it was obvious how very much in love the two of them were. Grum and Bethany were also inseparable. Though Grum may have turned Bethany into a prankster as well. She had tricked Kailee into eating a sandwich that was layered with a spicy cheese sauce. Yeah, the two of them couldn’t be trusted.
Lance and Lizzy were expecting a little one of their own. They wasted no time getting pregnant now that Lance never had to live apart from her again. But he wasn’t the only one expecting…
Kailee smiled up at Trey. “This is icing on the cake.”
“What cake?” Trey asked, smiling down at her. He watched as she bit her bottom l*p and smiled up at him.
“Actually Trey… I’m pregnant.”
Trey smiled widely and pulled her closer by her h**s. “You are carrying my child?” He asked and watched her slowly nod her head up to him. He leaned down and covered her lips with his. He moved against her passionately as he peppered her with sweet k****s.
“Have I ever told you just how much I love you?” Trey cooed to her with adoration.
“Mmm maybe once or twice.” Kailee giggled, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I’ll always keep you and our new little one safe.” Trey moved his hand over Kailee’s stomach, and she laughed at him.
“And I’ll keep you safe.” She smiled up at him as he found her lips again. “Thank you, Trey. Thank you for giving me a family and for loving me the way you do.”
Trey shook his head. “No… thank you. I know I can never deserve you… whoever could? But I will give you all the love I have and shower you with everything in my power. All I need in this life is you…I just need you.” He once again took her lips into his. He poured his love and passion for her in the sweetest k**s with a slight burn to it from his beast.
“I don’t need everything Trey. I just need you as well.” Kailee stared into his green eyes as he looked into her big brown doe eyes. “Well… maybe I need one more thing.”
Trey chuckled. “And what’s that?”
“I think my pregnant belly is demanding some sweet buns.”
Trey smiled wryly and quickly lifted Kailee up into his chest bridal style. “Sweet buns are within my power my queen, my love, my mate.”
Trey whisked her away running up towards the castle as Kailee clung onto him giggling. So much had happened to them in such a short time. It was as if years of their lives were condensed down. And yet as much as the couple had been through they hadn’t even touched the tip of their lives together. The war against Bane was over but their adventure together had only just begun.
