Maserati is set to unveil a thrilling new version of its MC20 supercar at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering later this month. This latest iteration, crafted with insights gained from the MC20-based GT2 race car, promises to deliver both exhilarating performance and everyday drivability.
The new MC20 will offer a range of customization options, though Maserati has kept specifics under wraps for now. A teaser image released on Thursday reveals a front fender with vents reminiscent of those on the GT2, hinting at the car’s high-performance pedigree.
While the GT2 race car boasts aggressive aerodynamic enhancements like large side intakes, an adjustable rear wing mounted on swan-neck struts, and a fully flat floor for optimal airflow, expect similar features to be incorporated into the new MC20 model set to debut in Monterey.
Powering the new MC20 will likely be the same twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 found in both the standard MC20 and the GT2, delivering up to 621 hp in the road car and up to 730 hp in the limited-edition MCxtrema track version.
The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, is scheduled for August 16, and will be a highlight of the Monterey Car Week, which runs from August 9-18. At the event, Maserati will also showcase the North American debut of the MC20 Icona special edition.
