A Dish Best Served Cold (The Man In Rage)
Chapter 692 Better to be Strangers

Tonight's dinner was specially for Ye Yu-Yan.

But Ye Fan didn't even remember the star of the night.

What was this?

This was an insult!

This was an insult to Ye Tian and definitely a huge insult to Ye Yu-Yan!

As expected, Ye Tian flew into a rage.

He slammed the table and stood up with a start as he yelled angrily, "You little bastard! How dare you say you don't know your own cousin? You still have the cheek to ask so loudly?"

"Don't you replace yourself a disgrace? How are you so shameless? Sis, is this the kind of son you've brought up?!" questioned Ye Tian furiously.

Ye Xi-Mei's face paled instantly.

But Ye Fan just laughed.

"Haha! Uncle Tian, so you do realize that this is very disgraceful. Then why doesn't your own daughter know her older cousin? And she even said that she had never seen me before. You say that I'm shameless, but doesn't that mean that Yu-Yan is also shameless? You accuse my mother of not bringing me up well, then did you bring your daughter up well? Uncle Tian, before you talk about others, look at your own children first!"

Ye Fan's words ran loudly like gold and rocks clattering to the floor.

His string of questions were clear and logical.

It felt like several slaps on Ye Tian's face.

His face turned red and he was speechless.

He was so angry that he started trembling. He opened his mouth to speak but couldn't get anything out.

After a long time, Ye Tian could only rely on his seniority to chastise Ye Fan.

"Shut up! What are you trying to do, huh?! How dare you argue with your uncle!" Ye Tian roared angrily through gritted teeth, but it was clear that he wasn't as confident as he was earlier.

Ye Fan chuckled. "Oh no I wouldn't dare, I'm just trying to reason things out."

"Why, you!" Ye Tian became even angrier when he saw that Ye Fan wasn't repentant at all.

While Ye Fan was arguing with Ye Tian, Ye Yu-Yan frowned as well.

She looked up at Ye Fan and there was coldness in her eyes.

She was the one who ignored Ye Fan, but he had come looking fortrouble instead.

Ye Yu-Yan put her teacup down and looked at Ye Fan as she said coldly, "Not everyone is fit to be an older cousin to me. At least you aren't!"

HUUUU...

Everyone felt as though a gust of wind just blew through the dining area wildly.

The entire place fell silent.

She didn't say much, but the arrogance and authority in Ye Yu-Yan's bones were fully expressed through these words.

She was indeed someone who had gone through battles. That sharpness and authoritativeness wasn't at a level that most people could be at.

But Ye Yu-Yan had spoken too harshly.

She hadn't given Ye Fan any leeway and was clearly falling out with him.

"That's going too far!" Ye Xi-Mei yelled fiercely. Her expression had turned icy as well.

"Yu-Yan, how could you say that? After going to college and being in the army for a few years, this is what the officers have taught you? You have no manners at all! Apologize to your cousin!" After being thrown out from the Chu family, Ye Xi-Mei hardly got angry with others.

That was because she knew that she didn't have the confidence nor backing to reprimand others.

But now that her own son was being humiliated, how could Ye Xi-Mei continue to keep quiet?

She didn't mind suffering injustice, but she refused to let her son suffer any.

"Yu-Yan, quickly apologize to him. You're really getting more and more immature," Dong Mei scolded her daughter when she saw that even Ye Xi-Mei had gotten angry.

After all, Ye Yu-Yan's words were really too harsh and hurtful earlier, so she should apologize.

But why would Ye Yu-Yan apologize?

She had always despised Ye Fan, and now that he had become a live-in son-in-law, she despised him even more.

Ye Yu-Yan was a proud woman, so making her apologize humbly to Ye Fan was worse than killing her.

She didn't say anything and just put down her chopsticks, then walked back to her own bedroom with an icy look on her face.

"This child is really too rebellious. Sis, don't take it to heart, I'll tell her off later." Dong Mei was a more understanding person and helped her daughter to apologize to Ye Fan and his mother.

Nobody else said anything. Everyone knew that Ye Yu-Yan had gone too far with her words, but that was the truth.

She was both good looking and high achieving, and now she was connected to high ranking government officials.

On top of that, Ye Yu-Yan was the youngest special commander in the military, so her future was bright.

To the rest of the Ye family, Ye Yu-Yan was like the sky while Ye Fan was the earth, and so Ye Fan wasn't fit to be her older

cousin at all.

"Alright now, let continue eating. This fish is really good, I'll send some over to Yu-Yan later," said Ye Ya with a laugh to try and relax the tense atmosphere.

But the silent Ye Fan suddenly laughed coldly.

He looked on as Ye Yu-Yan walked away and said calmly, "Ye Yu-Yan, you say that I'm not fit to be your older cousin? In that case, I'll grant you your wish. From today onwards, even though we're related by blood, we don't know each other anymore! I'm not an older brother to you and you're not a younger sister to me either. If we cross paths again, we will be nothing but strangers. Since we're on different paths, there's no point in trying to get along."

Ye Fan smiled faintly.

His calm words were like the gentle spring breeze.

Ye Fan had remained calm and emotionless throughout this whole

exchange.

It was as if this matter was just a small incident that wasn't worth mentioning.

But at the same time, that was all it was.

Perhaps Ye Fan would have gotten angry and flown into a rage many years ago because of the insult he suffered.

But now, Ye Fan was already standing at the peak of power and strength.

People like Ye Yu-Yan was no different from an ant to Ye Fan.

If an ant bit an elephant, would the elephant mind?

If not for his mother, she might not even be worthy of sharing the same dinner table as himself.

Ye Fan then turned and left.

He left the entire hall in shock and silence.

Fan! Fan! Come back!" Ye Xi-Mei and Ye

Guang-Kun shouted after him, but Ye Fan ignored their calls.

He had walked too far to care.

"Humph! You stupid woman! Just you wait! You'll regret this! All of you think Fan is a worm, but you don't know that he's really a dragon. By the time you realize this and you beg him for forgiveness, it will be to late!" shouted Lu Wen-Jing in Ye Yu-Yan's direction as she pouted angrily. She wasn't going to stick around since Ye Fan had left. She ran out after him once she was done shouting.

After Ye Fan left, the atmosphere in the dining hall suddenly became rather awkward.

Ye Guang-Kun sighed. "My grandchildren have all grown up and they don't listen anymore. All of them are so prideful." He shook his head and continued to sigh.
