Chapter 18- Lucas

I plopped on the comfortable bed as I exited the shower. Hudson went in the bathroom. Archer wassitting on the desk chair, reading a book he found somewhere.

This is the most relaxed I have felt since the attack. I can tell by looking that Archer and Hudson feltthe same.

There is a sense of security in this house. A sort of warmth and hominess that I didn't knew I missedso much.

In all this running and surviving, I had missed these simple gestures of taking a shower, laying onyour bed and staring at the ceiling thinking random things and some other things like having a fullhouse and dinner with family.

These things seem so modest but they are really important and we seem to take it for granted. Weonly realize how important they are to us, once we lose them.

"What are you thinking?” Archer asked breaking me out of my pondering

"About how much our lives changed in one day. Before the attack we didn't have a slightest idea ofthis world and now we are living in the middle of it. We lost everything but found something new.”"Yeah. It has been a whirlwind. I just hope that our parents were still alive. I miss them. I didn’t evenget to say goodbye to them.” Archer said giving me a sad smile.

“I want to help them with the attack. It will at least bring some sort of justice and peace to ourparents and the other people we lost.” Hudson said as he exited the bathroom.

He must have heard us talking.

“l want to as well but I don’t know how it will work.” I voiced.

"What do you mean?” Archer asked.

"See from what I collected, our Alpha is dead and that must be the chief's son. A pack needs anAlpha to function and we don't have him. We do have a beta which is one of us but we still need anAlpha. Even if we did shift, who will lead us? Who will take charge of us? What if they thought thatwe shouldn't be shifting as we don’t have an Alpha? The spirit walker has total control over theshifting process. What if she decides that we shouldn't shift due to lack of a leader? We won't beable to help and get justice. We will be too weak to fight against those monsters anyways. I justhope they let us in this. I want to give it my all to save the people I have left with me.” I told them.Archer and Hudson looked stunned for a moment.

Yup! We didn’t know about the shifter world till the day we were attacked but from what weconcluded, it must have been kept in the chief's family. The day of the attack was a total shock andchaos. We didn’t know anything at all about the creatures that were killing us nor did we know thatwe were a part of their world in some way.

When the chief shifted into a massive wolf, we were shocked but we ran as instructed by his wifeand sons. They were trying to help us but they got killed in the process.

Nobody anticipated an attack of that sorts. Not even in their dreams. There was confusioneverywhere. The parents took over for the chief's family and the children ran but they came after ustoo until we were saved and told about the way out.

We were pushed into a new world headlong without any warning but we wanted revenge so wemade it our mission to survive and fight back when we get a chance. Seems like we have thatchance now but there is a possibility that it can be taken away from us.

"We will figure something out. We will kill as many demons as we can before dying. I am not goingto sit around and watch people defend me and lose their lives. This time I will fight too and no oneis going to stop me from doing that.” Archer said standing up from his chair.

“Yeah! We will fight. With or without being shifters, it doesn't matter if we don’t have extraproperties to us. We will fight with what we got.” Hudson said plopping beside me.

A knock broke us out of our heated discussion and we went downstairs to eat. The Astley’s werewaiting for us with a table full of delicious looking food but my mind was solely wondering to ourtalk earlier.

We will fight no matter what and with everything we have got. We won't rest peacefully till we getto the bottom of this and eradicate the people responsible for the demise of our people.
