A Gold Alpha For A Silver Alpha -
Chapter 11
When I tried to stand up so I could thank them properly the pain shot through me with considerable force, I gasped and fell to my knees back to the ground.
My boys looked at me and quickly lifted me up together to form a stretcher of arms and hands. -Take him away, we'll tend to your wounded.
I immediately recognised Logan's voice and although I wanted to protest his order, my warriors obeyed him and carried me to my home, being careful not to move to prevent the broken bone from puncturing any of my organs.
I could see another 20 wolves come out from the surrounding area and each one approached a person lying down and began to tend to them, my eyes widened when I saw them cutting deep cuts in their bodies and approaching where the wounds of my boys were. Before I could understand what I had just seen we arrived at my house and judging by the looks the people there were giving me I knew I must have looked worse than I should have.
They took me to my room where they left me as gently as a group of warriors knew how.
That is, almost none, so the curses that came from my lips were mainly directed at the bloodsucker who had broken my rib.
-Come out.
I ordered a determined and authoritative voice, that could only belong to Rae, my suspicions were confirmed when his body appeared in visual field, my warriors obeyed leaving us alone after seeing me one last time, his clothes were in tatters, he was covered with thick and dark blood, but there was no sign of any wound on his body, he came closer to where I was and his hand passed over my face, caressing it without touching it.
-You took too long.
She looked at me without understanding.
-In the field, you stayed out of the way while we were getting beaten up.
-Oh that, I couldn't get into a fight that wasn't mine, I'm just here to watch.
-Then why did you do it, why did you help us?
But he didn't answer my question, his hands rested on his torso and he closed his eyes making all kinds of faces, and then he began to speak in another language.
-Os fractum, reparatione, tollere dolor, sanitas. -Os fractum, reparatione, tollere dolor, sanitas. -Os fractum, reparatione, tollere dolor, sanitas.
And when his eyes opened again they looked at me with a cocked grimace.
-You have a broken and splintered rib, near your kidney, and your appendix is damaged from the blows that vampire gave you.
-He, he said he knew you and that you must be dead.
He pursed his lips in disgust and clicked his tongue before replying.
-There are many secrets you don't know Alpha, you shouldn't pry into matters that aren't your own.
-I should do a lot of things, but honestly, following orders has never been my thing.
She smiled at me, a real smile that reached her beautiful eyes and made my soul tremble.
-Okay, if you're so curious, I'll reveal to you why our pack is home to the biggest and strongest wolves, why we have more strength than ordinary wolves, and most of all, why my pack is called Silver Moon.
Jason looked at her without understanding what she meant, when the beautiful young woman pulled out a long knife that hung on the side of her hip he couldn't stop his heart from leaping and a gasp escaped his lips.
By the goddess of the moon.
Was she going to kill him?
Something in her gaze caused the fear to drain from his body in seconds leaving blind confidence in its place.
-As I said, our pack has many secrets, for the sole purpose of protecting us, this is one of them, you see, we are, different.
With the knife in his right hand, he raised his left arm and left his palm extended upwards, and carefully, he slid the dagger from one end to the other, so calmly, it looked like he was cutting anything but his skin, he expected the red blood to gush out, trickling through his fingers, but what came out was a silvery liquid, like his molten eyes, like mercury, it came out slowly and with an astonishing calm, Rae turned his hand over his belly, cutting his skin as well.
Jason hissed in pain, but the other hand was already above the cut, pouring the strange liquid inside him, and he felt it burn inside him, like a flame that embraced him little by little, from his insides, from an unbearable heat to a pleasant, soothing warmth. Seconds later the cut Rae had made was gone, leaving no scar, but her palm was still covered in silver, proof that what had just happened was real.
-How .....
-Our blood is different from yours," Rae interrupted her question, I kept working on her wound while I explained, "Not only because of the colour, but also because of the properties it has, unlike all the packs, we cannot integrate a member, you have to be born as one, we are so many because we don't abandon anyone, no crime is punished with death, we don't spill our blood for unimportant conflicts, we have a gift, a gift, it has to be taken care of and protected, not wasted or underestimated.
His eyes looked at me intensely, forcing me, pleading with me to understand the risk that weight carried with it, and I understood.
And for now, just for now, I would let it go.
-What about the words you whispered before?
I asked cautiously, but I knew from the gleam in his eyes that I had overstepped my bounds.
-Careful Alpha, you are now the bearer of one of our secrets, but don't expect to know all of them before the time.
-That means I'm going to know the others.
-Perhaps, if you prove yourself worthy of it.
Without time to reply he turned and walked to the door and yanked it open, took a step out, but his head turned to look at me, and I caught a glimpse of the sad look he gave me, and for a second I thought he was going to say a few words of affection, but it was so quick I'm not sure I imagined it.
-Sleep all night Alpha, tomorrow you can go on with your normal activities as if nothing had happened, you have the day off to rebuild your pack, good night.
She left the room completely closing the door behind her, my ears followed her footsteps until they disappeared completely down the stairs.
I let my head fall heavily onto the pillow as a sigh escaped my mouth.
She was so damn complicated.
But I saved him.
And I had trusted him enough to tell him that.
Did that mean he was earning his trust?
I didn't know.
But he let unconsciousness wash over him, leaving behind all the doubts that were tangled in his head.
Tomorrow he would come back strong enough for all that.
For now, he just wanted to rest from the reality that had hit him so hard in recent weeks.
