Even though Jay tried to reach them as fast as he could, he was still the last to arrive both Zoe and Cora had already gotten up off the ground.

Bob carried Cora away, while one of the female staff helped Zoe walk.

They had to get checked and get a vaccination shot for rabies.

Filming was probably going to be delayed, given the situation.

"Zoe," Jay called out as he rushed toward her, sweating buckets. "Were you hurt? Where?"

"Here." Zoe simply showed him her hand instead of hiding it-there were clear bite marks on her fair skin, cutting skin and drawing blood and leaving some bruising around it.

Jay's heart could get numb from the pain just then. "Does it hurt?"

"Yeah." Zoe nodded, appearing a little upset just then.

"I'm sorry," Jay apologized.

"It's not your fault."

"If I'd stayed with you..."

"It would break my heart if it bit you too," Zoe said bluntly.

Jay stared at Zoe, his eyes a little red as he quietly nodded.

He could not carry Zoe like Bob did with his crippled leg, and he simply walked with her back to their house.

They were living in a small town, and the medical equipment was not advanced. After some internal discussion, the crew decided to put off filming the episode and called in emergency transport to move the guests to the city, sending Cora and Zoe to the best hospital.

It was a long trip, so Zoe and Cora were given basic treatment at the local hospital first.

In the car on the way to the city, Zoe suddenly sighed.

"Does it hurt?" Jay asked worriedly.

"No." Zoe shook her head.

The bite certainly hurt earlier, but the pain seemed to have passed.

"I'm just a little sad that I couldn't eat any of the vegetables I gathered today," she explained.

Jay was speechless, but there really was no keeping up with how Zoe's thought process worked.

"I mean don't you replace it a shame too?" Zoe asked, staring at Jay's face just then.

"I'm more concerned that you were bitten by a dog."

"Right." Zoe sighed. "Guess I'm making headlines again-production suspended as dog bites Cora Levine and Zoe York."

"Well, that's a nice headline." Jay smiled begrudgingly. "I mean, don't you want the exposure? It would add to your value as an entertainer."

"I get it, but the more they hype you up, the more disillusioned the fans can get, y'know? I'd be making headlines every day and suddenly be gone without a trace."

"Don't get so paranoid now."

"Your position depends on ability, while ours depends on luck. It's different."

"But you have me now."

In other words, he had the ability to keep her popular.

Zoe's heart skipped a beat, suddenly replaceing a sense of security.

She blurted out, "Suddenly, I'm not that eager to leave you now, Jay Parker."

Jay stiffened as Zoe moved to lean on him.

She never wanted a reply from him anyway-relationships must never bank on coercion, and it was fine as long as she had conveyed her feelings. And yet, Jay's quiet but emotionally restrained voice spoke from above her, "You don't have to."

Zoe smiled.
