Chapter 571 “Understood,” Hunter answered.

After what happened, Sage was totally exhausted. “Luckily, the poison was not injected into Jace'sbody. I can't imagine how disastrous the consequences will be."

“Fortunately, you arrived on time. Or else I will be dead by now.”

Sage tilted her head and looked at Jace. Her brows interlocked together, and she did not see anyrelief on his face after nearly escaping death. He looked like he was really, very happy.” Why does helook so happy? Doesn't he know he nearly died?” Jace saw Sage’s sunken face and swiftly stoppedsmiling and put on a serious face. “How did you know Dr. Wagner was helping Jekyll?” He sat nearlyto the other side of the bed so Sage could have more space to sit down on the bed. However, Sagedid not sit on the bed, and she sat down on the chair instead.

After talking for the whole afternoon, Sage's throat was very dry. “I didn’t know there was a problemwith Dr. Wagner. Or else I won't have Hunter text him. We have known each other for a long time.”She paused for a while and stared downward to hide the sadness in her eyes.

In actuality, Sage knew Jekyll's characteristics and knew that he would not just let her go easily. Shehad a bad intuition after letting Hunter text Dr. Wagner and that was the reason why she rushed allthe way here. As she thought, Jekyll could always replace a way to do all sorts of evil things.

Realizing Sage’s throat was uncomfortable, he took a bottle of mineral water and opened it for her.“Drink some water.”

Sage waved her hand and did not accept it. She looked at him and said, “Don't simply drink anywater here. You have to be careful with the food you eat. I will have someone deliver food to you,and you have to let your people check it too. Do you understand me?” Since Sage was being veryserious with it, Jace nodded his head. “Okay.” “Don’t let your guard down and think this is nothingserious.” Sage suddenly felt uneasy.” Why can't you just stay in the hospital in Nadeem City? Whydo you have to follow me back to Salem City? I can't even guarantee my own safety, and now I haveto care about yours. Didn't you get hit in the head hard enough? Why do you want to step foot intothis crap? That Jekyll guy is a ruthless guy. There's nothing that he won't do!” she scolded himfiercely. Ever since she learned that Jace had followed her back to Salem City, there was fire surgingin her chest. She had suppressed it for the whole afternoon, and finally, she released it.

Jace listened to her reprimand obediently and did not say a word until she finally calmed down.Only then, he said, “You don't have to worry about me. I can take care of myself. I feel insecurebeing far away from you. I need to be closer to you.”

“Insecure?” Sage smiled helplessly and said, “Staying with me is the least secure place. I can't giveyou the security that you want, and you can't give it to me either.” She put on her sunglasses andbecame emotionless.

"After the launch of the racecourse, you need to go back to Nadeem City. Don't stay in Salem City.You are just in the way.” She left after the cold and heartless comment.

Jace stared at her back for a very long time. He thought that he had gotten used to her coldness,indifference, and mercilessness. However, each harsh word she spoke was like a hammer poundinghard on his heart. It caused his heart to hurt so much that he did not know how to describe it. It wastrue that he could not give her the security and happiness she wanted. The only thing he could dofor her was to clear all the dangerous factors in her life and return the peace to her life. Jacerequested Zayne to pass him his phone. He made a call. "Have you collected all the information onJekyll? Send it to me.”
