Chapter 69

Seeing him drenched from head to toe, Elara felt a pang of sympathy. She walked downstairs.

Ursa noticed her coming out and quickly held an umbrella over her. As the villa door opened. Elara stepped outside and looked at Lysander, who was being urged by the driver to go back. But he didn't budge. Elara narrowed her eyes at him. "What do you mean by this?"

Lysander turned to her, a glimmer of joy in his eyes. "You're not angry anymore!"

Elara was indeed quite upset. He always did this, ignoring her messages without a word. But seeing him like this, she found herself at a loss for what to do. Just come inside."

At her words, Lysander turned and opened the car door. Confused, Elara watched as he pulled out a cake box from inside

the car.

Once they were back home, Ursa brought a towel over. Lysander was completely soaked. Elara took the towel and gently dried the water from his hair.

She looked at Lysander and asked, "You canceled on me, and then you show up here for what?"

"Something came up, sorry," Lysander replied earnestly. "Elara, Ididn't mean to

"What was it?" Elara asked, her expression darkening. "If you can't make it, don't say you will."

It had made her look foolish in front of Harold, who ended up laughing at her. Harold seemed to enjoy it, almost eager for her to break things off with Lysander.

Lysander explained, "My dad called me unexpectedly"

At the mention of his father, Elara paused. She recalled how Harold had always opposed her relationship with Lysander. Concern crept into her voice as she asked, "Does your dad not approve of us?" Lysander shook his head, denying her concern. I don't think so

"You don't think so?" she asked.

"He hasn't brought you up, Lysander said.

Ursa helped replace a change of clothes for Lysander, and Elara urged him to take a shower first After he emerged, she helped him dry his hair again.

He looked at Elara and said, "I'm sorry. By the time I finished up, you had already turned your phone off "Could I not turn it off?" Elara replied, her face dark. "I was about to lose it. I was ready to ignore you completely." The memory of being toyed with by Asher before her time travel still haunted her. Elara despised being a simp now.

On her way back, Elara even wondered if Lysander had grown tired of her. Before time travel, while he still cared for her, it was only because they had never been together.

They'd spent most of the year together. It was normal for him to get tired of her.

"Sorry," he said, looking at her with sincerity

Elara huffed in response. Lysander held a towel, drying his hair. Once he finished, he turned to her and said. "Elara, happy birthday

Hearing his words, Ela glaced at the time and realized it was already past midnight. He had been waiting at the door for a long time, which had kept her from sleeping. She was surprised he remembered her birthday. "Did you bring a cake, too?" she asked.

"Yeah, he replied.

Ursa had already taken the cake out. It was a beautiful cake adorned with a figure of a girl wearing a crown.

Elara glanced at Lysander, who walked over to join her. They sat down at the dining table, lit the candles, and Elara made a

wish.

She closed her eyes, then opened them again, meeting Lysander's gaze. He was still wearing her dad's T-shirt, but it didn't detract from his charm. The tenderness in his eyes made her feel a bit lost.

At that moment, as she closed her eyes, she suddenly remembered that before her time travel, when she was eighteen, it seemed she hadn't celebrated a birthday. Her father had passed away.

With her world revolving around Asher, it felt like he was all that existed for her. Yet, he was always with Daphne.

Elara had been forced to take over the company's affairs every day, which was tough and stressful for her. It felt like the entire world had abandoned her.

Looking at Lysander before her, Elara felt a sense of security. She cut the cake and offered him a piece. He took it, and they both enjoyed the cake together.

Elara didn't have many friends in Starfield City, or she could even say she had none. But with Lysander around, she felt quite happy.

That night, Lysander didn't go home. He stayed with Elara for a few days. Elara was currently studying for her driver's license, so she stayed home to review material and practice driving.

That afternoon, they went to Harold's for a meal. After visiting a couple of times, Elara couldn't stop thinking about the delicious food at Harold's.

"Lysander," someone called out as they just got out of the car.

Elara turned in the direction of the voice and saw a man around her father's age approaching. He wore glasses and appeared quite refined.

Accompanying him were Aubrey and Felicity, along with a group of people behind them."Miss Kensington! I never expected to see you here," Felicity said.

Elara replied politely, "Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Hawthorne."

With all of them showing up together, it was easy to guess that this was Lysander's father.

"Today is a family dinner, Lysander. Bring Elara along." Wyatt invited.

Lysander glanced at Elara, and when he saw she didn't object, he agreed. She had been doubting whether his family liked her, so it was nice to meet them. Wyatt and Felicity walked ahead, while Aubrey approached Lysander and said. "Hi, Lysander!"

Lysander merely gave him a glance in acknowledgment.

Aubrey then turned to Elara, saying, "Elara, Lysander is so aloof Does he not talk much in front of you?"

Elara looked at him, saying, "Not really, I guess

"My mom said you're Lysander's girlfriend. Is that true?" Aubrey asked.

Elara was taken aback for a moment. She hadn't expected Felicity to say that. Clearing her throat, she replied, "Not yet."

They hadn't confirmed their relationship yet. Lysander shot her a glance upon hearing her words.

As Elara walked alongside him, they entered the private room together. Harold personally welcomed them.

It was just a family dinner, but it felt quite grand. Besides Elara and Lysander, everyone else was dressed formally.

Looking down at her flip-flops, Elara instantly felt underdressed. Since the guests hadn't all arrived yet, she sat next to Lysander and asked. "Is your family dinner always this formal?" Lysander nodded. "I suppose so." He wasn't used to this either, but that was just how his father was

Elara inquired. "Why didn't they invite you before?

It seemed Lysander had been excluded. She couldn't help but feel that Lysander was somewhat bullied at home.

However, Lysander responded, "They did invite me. I told them was busy.

His father had sent him a message yesterday, but since Lysander was with Elara, he had outright declined.

Lysander hadn't expected to run into them today. Elara was momentarily at a loss for words.

Elara was momentarily at a loss for words.

While they were quietly chatting, Wyatt suddenly spoke up. "Elar."

Elara quickly looked up. "What's wrong, Mr. Hawthorne."

"I'm very pleased to meet you," Wyatt said.

Wyatt bore a strong resemblance to Lysander, yet his age gave him a more mature appearance, exuding an authoritative presence. However, his demeanor was quite friendly. undeniable

"I had wanted to ask Lysander to bring you over for a meal for some time now, but he's always been busy. When I mentioned it to him yesterday, he turned me down. Now that we've met, it feels like a coincidence," he said.
