After divorce, Ex-wife Revealed Identities -
Chapter 785
Chapter 785
Mrs. Wright was in no mood to entertain Vita at the moment, but this child had always been well-behaved and obedient. She had stayed with Larro when Cody was in prison.
Vita had also spent a lot of time with her.
Although Mrs. Wright was a bit impatient, she forced herself to remember that the child had come from far away.
"Are you on winter break?"
"Yes! Christmas is coming soon, and there's no one left at home. I just wanted to visit you." Vita's sweet voice carried a hint of pity.
She stood at the exit of the train station, her expression tinged with cold sarcasm that contrasted sharply with her sweet words.
If it weren't for getting close to Brayden, why bother pleasing Mrs. Wright?
"Wait for us, my husband and I will drive over right away. It's freezing out here. The weather in Larro is different from Urgford; don't wander around!" Mrs. Wright grabbed her down jacket as she spoke. Vita quickly said, "Thank you, Mrs. Wright."
"What are you thanking me for? Send me your location." Mrs. Wright hung up the phone and urged Cody on, "Let's go pick her up."
Cody frowned slightly; among the students he sponsored from disaster areas, Vita always contacted Mrs. Wright while others who were having difficulties contacted his assistant.
Mrs. Wright didn't think much about it. "This child is well-behaved and obedient compared to others who never came to visit me before."
"I'm not so sure," Cody thought after spending more than half a year in prison. He understood things clearly after being released.
Except for Sylvia, Franklin, and several other young people who were truly worth befriending, the rest were opportunistic.
He now held high position, and he saw through social interactions very clearly. So Vita wasn't simple! Surely, Mrs. Wright was deceived by her innocent appearance.
Thinking like this, Cody still took the car keys, and drove off with Mrs. Wright.
They arrived at the train station half an hour later.
If they took high-speed rail from Larro to Urgford, it would take four hours; if they took regular trains, it would take at least ten hours or more.
As soon as Mrs. Wright got out of the car, she saw Vita standing in the cold wind at the exit gate. She quickly pushed open the car door and ran over to help Vita with her luggage. "Why are you so silly? Don't you know to stand inside? It's so cold outside!"
Vita shook her stiff hands and exhaled a breath. "Mrs. Wright, I'm afraid you and Mr. Wright won't be able to replace me if I stand inside."
"You're such a silly child," Mrs. Wright said as she helped Vita put her luggage in the car and arranged for her to sit in the back seat next to her. "Why didn't you buy a high-speed train ticket? Taking a train is so tiring!"
"I wanted to save money!" Vita took out a silver brooch from her pocket and handed it over to Mrs. Wright. "Mrs. Wright, this is what I earned from my part-time job, and it's for you."
The brooch didn't look like it was worth much money, but Mrs. Wright was deeply touched by Vita's gesture.
"Oh my goodness! How thoughtful of you! Don't spend your hard-earned money anymore! Do you know how difficult it is to earn money?"
Cody drove ahead while occasionally glancing back at Mrs. Wright and Vita through his rearview mirror.
Sure enough... Vita knew how to win people over with gifts.
Given that she couldn't afford anything valuable with her income, but since she said that this gift was bought with the money she earned, this gift seemed particularly special. Cody furrowed his brows slightly; what could be Vita's motive for getting close with them. The Wright family?
On their way home, Mrs. Wright told Vita about how she had planned on leaving for Vienna tomorrow.
Vita was stunned; feeling extremely envious of Jenna, because before taking any action herself, they were already planning on letting Jenna marry Brayden officially. If they really got married, then what would happen next?
No way!
She thought about it before saying, "Can they register their marriage abroad too? If they did, their marriage certificate might not have legal effect in our country."
"I haven't considered that question," chuckled Mrs. Wright as she changed course unexpectedly. "Since you're here now, why don't stay here these few days until they come back?" Upon hearing that change of plans, Vita felt very comfortable again
She once again played up being pitiful, "Mrs. Wright, I want... to spend Christmas together with all of you. I'm all alone..."
"There aren't many people at home anyway. Just settle down here comfortably," Mrs. Wright patted Vitas hand reassuringly. "I wonder how their competition went."
After arriving home, Mrs. Wright called Brayden right away.
"Brayden, how's everything going on your end? I was supposed to come over, but something came up at home," Mrs. Wright said with a hint of disappointment in her voice.
"It's all good," Brayden replied as he sat on his bed. "What happened at home?"
"Oh, it's that student Vita who came back from the disaster area. She's visiting us and I didn't have time to come see you and Jenna," Mrs. Wright explained. "When you guys come back, it'll be Christmas so we can have a family reunion."
"Vita?" Brayden furrowed his brows in disbelief as he vaguely remembered the girl from school who wasn't exactly a good person and had caused trouble for Jenna before.
Feeling annoyed, Brayden said, "Mom, why are you letting anyone into our house?"
"Brayden, Vita is a nice girl and she's also very unfortunate. Her entire family died during the disaster so she has no one left," Mrs. Wright defended her decision.
"There are plenty of people out there who are alone too but that doesn't mean we should let them into our house," Brayden retorted before hanging up the phone abruptly.
Mrs. Wright was left pondering if Vita was really not as simple-minded as she thought.
Meanwhile, at Vienna's Graley Piano Competition venue which consisted of multiple independent halls.
Inside one of these halls designated for piano pre-selection rounds were several staff members arranging participants' order of appearance.
Today was not just limited to composition pre-selection rounds; three different venues were hosting competitions.
Jenna felt envious watching those participants queuing up for the piano competition.
She could have participated in the piano competition too!
Ashlyn was standing among the queue of participants, and caught a glimpse of Jenna's figure from the corner of her eye. She smirked at Jenna, confident that without this formidable opponent, she would definitely come in first place.
Holding her own number plate, she walked towards the backstage area. Just then, one of the organizers behind her frowned and said, "Why hasn't the last participant arrived yet?"
"Who is it?" Another staff member craned herneck to look at the form.
After reading it over, she shouted out loud, "Jenna! Is Jenna here? Has she arrived yet? There are only five minutes left to register."
Hearing Jenna's name made Ashlyn stiffen and almost fall over. She turned around abruptly and exclaimed loudly, "Are you mistaken? How could Jenna participate in this competition?"
The staff member looked impatiently at her excited state and said, "Can I not even recognize this word? It's Jenna! Is she here or not? Hurry up and come register within these last five minutes."
Meanwhile, just as Jenna had sat down on a seat in the audience area with a confused mind; after all she had missed out on registration opportunities already; Sylvia handed her a registration certificate before pushing her forward, saying, "Go ahead now. Perform well."
When Jennna saw that registration certificate being handed to her by Sylvia, she felt a pang in her heart.
It was clearly Sylvia who helped register for herself...
How could someone be so amazing like Sylvia?
"Sylvia..."
"Alright then, no need for words. Go quickly!" Sylvia broke into an enchanting smile.
Brayden didn't expect that Sylvia would be so powerful. How did he miss such an important detail earlier?
"Sylvia, you're amazing."
"Don't flatter me now; the competition is more important," replied Sylvia calmly.
Franklin and Jasper were also surprised that despite registrations having closed long ago, Sylvia still managed to get Jenna registered.
Jenna hurriedly went up to register when called upon by staff members.
She received an order card for performance sequence after completing registration, and immediately headed towards backstage.
With each step taken, she felt like stepping closer towards realizing her dreams.
She was getting closer to achieving what had always been just beyond reach.
Ashlyn stood at the backstage door, arms crossed as she watched Jenna approach. Her face was filled with mockery. "Don't think just because you're in this competition that you'll win. First place is mine." "Talk is cheap, it's all about skill," Jenna replied coldly as she walked past Ashlyn and into the room.
"You!" Ashlyn stomped her foot in anger. "Jenna, don't think that just because you're in this competition means you'll win easily."
The other colleagues from Urgford Piano Association who had also signed up for the piano competition were stunned when they saw Jenna walk in.
