After divorce, Ex-wife Revealed Identities -
Chapter 840
Chapter 840
Audrina's face burned with pain and anger. Being slapped by a classmate in front of so many people was humiliating beyond words.
She stood there, looking pitiful and fragile, as if she could fall at any moment. She knew there was no turning back from this situation.
With tears in her eyes, Audrina began to speak. "Lorelei... you all come from wealthy families, but I am just an orphan who is dependent on others. I have no powerful background or good family history. It's difficult for me to make a name for myself in this circle."
"What can I do? I'm doing this for myself too. I want to be famous like Poppy and the others who have already made it big outside of school."
"I feel so sad that everyone else is getting attention except me."
"I know that it's my fault that things turned out like this. Lorelei, please forgive me!"
Audrina lowered her head as tears streamed down her face silently like raindrops falling off leaves.
Lorelei had a cold expression on her face; she looked delicate and beautiful like a blooming rose flower but only played supporting roles in some web dramas unlike Poppy who was more popular among the four girls living together in their dormitory.
"Audrina, you've disappointed me greatly! The entertainment industry is all about fame and fortune; people stepping on each other happens frequently here! But never did I expect you would become such an embarrassment before we even graduate college!"
She took a deep breath before continuing. "Anyway since you're the one at fault here, I don't want to ruin your future completely either! You should move out of our dormitory now; as for your transfer application into another major program within our university system -I will help arrange everything for you."
"What? Transfer?" Audrina stared at Lorelei incredulously while raising both eyebrows high up above her forehead. "Who are you to decide whether or not my major should be changed?"
"Because my father is one of the board members of our university," Lorelei smirked arrogantly. "I'm being merciful enough by not asking you directly drop out altogether! Instead transferring into cultural industry management program which suits your interests better than what we're currently studying- isn't it enough?"
"But... but..." Audrina wanted to say something more but eventually gave up without saying anything else anymore.
She bit down hard on her lower lip before lowering head again with hatred burning inside herself towards Lorelei's cruelty towards someone weaker than herself.
Compared to dropping out, changing majors was nothing. Cultural industry management was the most obscure major with a limited job market. Her dream was to become a star, and if she had a degree in acting, at least people in the industry would give her a second glance. But then again, her chances would be even slimmer.
However, she had no choice.
Lorelei's father was the school director, so she had an extensive network of contacts at school. In her freshman year, she became the head of publicity for the student council and everyone looked up to her. She had an easy-going personality and good social skills.
Audrina swallowed hard and felt uncomfortable all over.
She almost felt like breaking down.
Why did God treat her so unfairly?
Why were they born into wealthy families with good looks and luck?
And here she was - without any advantages or prospects whatsoever.
"You ruined what could have been a great wrap party," Sylvia lazily glanced at Audrina. "Do you know how many people in our circle laughed at Poppy because of your instant noodle support campaign? Just because Ms Wang let you off doesn't mean Maskelyne Group will do the same."
As soon as Sylvia finished speaking, Jasper walked out holding a lawyer's letter in his hand and approached Audrina. "Miss Pierce, you are suspected of fraudulently raising funds from fan clubs. This is Maskelyne Group's lawyer's letter; please keep it safe."
So this meant that Audrina would face legal consequences!
Meanwhile, Poppy's global fan club immediately tweeted about it all - explaining everything clearly while also revealing every detail about what Audrina did wrong including when Jasper handed over his lawyer's letter which ended up being captured on camera before being uploaded onto Twitter for everyone to see.
The evidence spoke for itself; there was no denying it now!
Audrina hadn't even made her debut yet but now everything seemed hopeless...
Lorelei watched as police officers took Audrina away for further investigation into this matter that could potentially land her behind bars.
As far as Lorelei cared though- whether or not Audrina went to jail wasn't really any concern of hers anymore.
She walked over to Poppy. "Poppy please don't hold me responsible either; it wasn't my fault that Audrina stole my ID card pretending to be me!"
"I know," Poppy held Lorelei's hand tightly with lingering fear still present within herself. "Thankfully my sister-in-law always takes care of me otherwise I'd have no future left in this industry after just one instant noodle campaign alone has already damaged my reputation beyond repair."
"When the time comes, who would dare to bet on her from the production team and investors? Audrina is too much," Poppy shuddered at the thought of the consequences.
Lorelei laughed heartily and turned to Sylvia. "Miss Andrews is so bold, and Mr. Maskelyne spoils his sister too much. I envy you for having such great siblings."
But her smile did not reach her eyes. Underneath her long lashes, a faint glint flickered briefly.
"Sis, did you invite Lorelei?" Poppy asked Sylvia in confusion.
Sylvia shook her head. "It should be your brother Jasper."
"Oh, I see." Franklin spoke up nonchalantly. "After Maskelyne Group found out that she was using Miss Wang's ID card number, they contacted Miss Wang and invited her to confront that woman." That woman...
Hearing him refer to Audrina as 'that woman,' Sylvia couldn't help but curl up a corner of her mouth in disdain.
Obviously, Franklin didn't even bother remembering Audrina's name or paying attention to irrelevant people like her.
Lorelei hooked arms with Poppy in an easygoing manner while looking like she couldn't keep a secret inside any longer.
"I'm really relieved about this whole thing," Lorelei said with a laugh. "My dad is Rocco Whitehead; he'll be upset if he replaces out that Poppy got into trouble again! If you two don't mind, I'd love to treat you both sometime soon - let's celebrate together!"
She continued laughing heartily while adding. "My dad has some great wine hidden away in his liquor cabinet; I'll make sure we get our hands on two bottles!"
Anyone would have liked Lorelei for being so open-hearted and genuine-looking; however, Sylvia only smiled politely without accepting the invitation outrightly but also not sounding harsh either. Lorelei didn't insist further either but instead suggested something else. "Miss Andrews made thoughtful considerations indeed! How about we all go sing karaoke together next weekend?" Poppy nodded eagerly before suggesting inviting their dorm mate Valerie Hood along as well.
As Lorelei glanced around at other people attending the wrap party event afterward - including Brock - she walked over towards him holding a glass of red wine before raising it up for cheers.
"Mr. Brock! It's an honor meeting you finally!" She introduced herself as one of Poppy's classmates who had missed auditioning for Audrina's role due to some family matter back then before expressing regret over missing such an opportunity."
Brock listened to her talk and suddenly remembered that Audrina had done something similar. What about Audrina's role in the play? It definitely needed to be deleted!
"Miss Andrews, what do we do now with this play?"
"We'll just delete her part," Sylvia said, already having thought of how to deal with Audrina.
Hearing her words, Lorelei's eyes lit up. She wondered if she could replace Audrina but before she could speak up, Sylvia continued speaking. "Her role wasn't significant anyway since she was just Poppy's classmate and we only added a few scenes for her. Since she doesn't appreciate it, we'll just delete everything and I'll fix any plot holes. You can shoot the scenes according to my adjustments."
Lorelei felt a pang in her heart - did she not perform well enough earlier? Did Sylvia not like her? She swallowed hard but didn't say anything.
Brock was also surprised that Sylvia chose to fix the bugs instead of using Lorelei as a replacement even though they had one ready.
Sylvia noticed his confusion and looked at him as if asking for his opinion. "What's wrong? Do you have any thoughts?"
"Oh no," Brock shook his head, "I think your plan is good."
He was already tired from flying back from Aettosa and rushing over for the wrap party when he ran into Audrina - someone he didn't want to see again - so he agreed with Franklin that they should leave early. Lorelei didn't want to leave yet so she went over to Eden and Simeon instead trying get photos taken with them or an autograph acting like a star-struck fan girl.
Poppy didn't replace anything strange about it since Lorelei always acted carefree but Sylvia frowned slightly at this behavior.
"What's wrong?" Franklin asked concernedly as they left their seats together.
"It's nothing," Sylvia shook her head, then suddenly received a call on her phone from Brayden which surprised both of them since it was late at night.
"I never told him we were coming back home," Franklin said in his magnetic voice tinged with suspicion while looking at the caller ID display on Sylvia's phone screen," After Graley Piano Competition ended, he returned directly here; during this time we've been worrying about Hipps family matters, so I haven't contacted him either."
As they spoke, Sylvia answered Brayden's call by pressing accept button on screen.
Without even waiting for her to speak, Brayden's urgent voice rang out. "Sylvia, something's wrong!" Sylvia frowned and her face changed slightly as she spoke in a serious and icy tone. "What happened?"
"My mom has been feeling unwell lately and today it got worse. She was admitted to the hospital yesterday but hasn't improved at all." Brayden's voice sounded anxious, like there was a fire burning in his chest that made him uncomfortable.
