Chapter 848

Jenna was suddenly struck by a shocking thought. Was her sister Sylvia... but she held it back.

Her heart pounded wildly, as if it could burst out of her throat at any moment.

She swallowed hard. What if... what if it was true?

No, impossible. How could her sister be Sylvia?

Sylvia was so powerful and perfect, how could she have such a useless little sister like herself?

Jenna instinctively rejected and denied the thought.

She had never helped her sister except to hold her back, always making her help herself. She felt ashamed and terrible for even having such an absurd and terrifying idea.

Jenna spat on herself fiercely and lowered her head in sadness.

If only she could be Sylvia's real little sister, that would be so happy...

Cody and Sylvia were caught off guard when Mrs. Wright's hypnosis unexpectedly broke down, restoring her memory.

Tiana rushed over in the afternoon upon hearing the news, embracing Mrs. Wright together after years apart.

"I know you forgot about me," Tiana said through tears. "I knew that was your pain all along so I never dared to bring it up or contact you too much."

"Tiana, it's my fault," Mrs. Wright cried as tears fell onto the bed sheets below them both. "I'm just too stupid to forget Monica."

Tiana supported Mrs. Wright who lay half-sitting on the hospital bed with concern written all over face. "How did you get poisoned? If your body fails now, what will happen later?"

"Why didn't you tell me about this big thing happening at home?" Tiana continued with worry etched across every feature of hers. "If there is nothing going on at home, then I can come here every day to accompany you!"

Mrs. Wright shook slowly, shaking her head. "It's my fault for being stupid enough to believe Vita."

She recounted Vita's story with great sadness while Tiana stared wide-eyed in shock. "How can there be such a vicious girl? It's too much."

"Anyway," Mrs. Wright held Tiana's hand tightly,"she got what she deserved."

"When I'm better we'll go visit Monica together... She must feel very lonely underground..."

"Okay," Tiana nodded tearfully as memories of their youth flooded back into view before they parted ways again for now..

She looked up at Sylvia, who was sitting on the nearby sofa. "Thank goodness, Monica's daughter is still with us. Sylvia is so talented, she really outshines her mother and inherits Monica's perfect genius genes."

Mrs. Wright couldn't help but respond, "Monica was also a genius like Sylvia back then and was famous in our school. She not only had good grades but also could draw, dance and do experiments. At that time, she participated in some national university competitions and won first place."

"It was a physics competition. The conclusion she drew from the experiment shocked the academic circle; it was amazing!" Tiana continued Mrs. Wright's words, "Monica seemed to have a brain even more brilliant than a genius; unfortunately, beauty fades."

"Fortunately, Sylvia is also a genius," Mrs. Wright said proudly with her face beaming.

"You think I'm stupid? I forgot about Monica before but now I have to call Sylvia my sister too? Isn't that messing up our family tree?"

Tiana's furrowed brows gradually relaxed as her eyes sparkled with joy; instantly she raised an enchanting smile. "What should I say about you?"

While laughing at herself Tiana looked at Sylvia. "Sylvia, she's your mother's best friend calling her sister doesn't seem quite appropriate, right?"

Sylvia shrugged indifferently. "I'm used to it; suddenly changing what we call each other makes me feel uncomfortable."

"It's just one name or another," Mrs. Wright said emotionally moved by what they were saying as tears streamed down her face again. "Look at this lovely child of yours! How can anyone not love her?" "Too bad for your younger sister..." Mrs. Wright mentioned Sylvia's younger sister.

"I always believe that my mother and sister haven't really passed away yet... maybe they're living happily somewhere in this world," said Sylvia with a slight smile on her lips carrying hopefulness on her face which appeared so natural and comfortable under the light of the hospital room lamp- like an exquisite jade lotus blooming inside its light.

For some time, no one spoke until Jonathan brought several gifts into the ward, sat down on the sofa, carelessly saying. "Mrs. Wright, these are some supplements for you to take care of your health." Jonathan slowly edged his way towards Sylvia, speaking to Mrs. Wright but with a grin on his face as he looked at Sylvia. "Hey, boss, I heard your movie is about to be released?"

Sylvia glanced at him nonchalantly. "Yeah, we're in post-production and waiting for approval before setting a release date."

"Don't worry, I'll definitely buy out the theater and support you," Jonathan patted his chest confidently. "But boss, how about letting me make a cameo appearance when you shoot the next one? I've always wanted to try acting."

Although he was an e-sports player, he had always harbored a desire to act.

He just never had the opportunity.

"Sure," Sylvia nodded her head. "I actually planned on incorporating e-sports themes into my next film."

"What?" Jonathan was stunned - did he just luck out?

"You can have a small role," Sylvia smirked. "But let's wait until 'The Beggarly Girl Is A Noble Lady' is released before we start planning for the next one."

She had this plan all along - 'The Beggarly Girl Is A Noble Lady' was meant to showcase Poppy and Honey as dual female leads competing for awards.

After it premiered she would submit it for consideration at the Peony Film Festival.

The Peony Film Festival was highly regarded within their industry - winning an award there would increase an actor's value exponentially while also solidifying their status within the industry through recognition of their talent.

If Poppy won this award, she would become the youngest actress ever awarded Best Actress in history!

Sylvia thought excitedly but didn't say anything aloud since both Poppy and Honey winning awards would be great news regardless of who took home what prize.

Honey's acting skills were rapidly improving under Brock's tutelage and she even managed to shed her signature physical characteristics that once defined her image. Sylvia couldn't help but feel hopeful about what lay ahead.

At Ritter Villa, everything felt lifeless since Ashlyn returned from Graley Piano Competition empty-handed; everyone in the Ritter family seemed weighed down by some inexplicable depression, especially Mrs. Ritter who wore a scowl every day like everyone owed her millions of dollars!

"Crash!" Another cup shattered accompanied by Mrs. Ritter's irritable yelling. "Are you clumsy? Can't even brew tea properly! What kind of tea is this? From years ago? So bitter!" "Brew it again!"

The maid trembled in fear, quickly squatting down to clean up the broken glass while constantly apologizing, "I'm sorry, madam. I'll go make a new one right away."

She was so nervous that she cut her hand on the glass shards and didn't even feel the pain as fresh blood oozed out. She hurriedly picked up the pieces and ran into the kitchen. Ashlyn had just returned from a party with some socialites when she saw Mrs. Ritter's ugly face as soon as she walked in.

"Mom, what's wrong?"

"What else could it be? That bitch Sylvia!" Mrs. Ritter exclaimed angrily. "She submitted her movie for review and it's causing a stir on Twitter."

"So what if she did? It has nothing to do with us," Ashlyn said as she changed her shoes and sat down on the couch with her bag.

Mrs. Ritter's face darkened instantly. "With her fame, if it gets approved for release, she'll gain more attention again and who knows how much money she'll make."

Ashlyn blinked. "Mom... you're not thinking of making a movie too, are you?"

"I'm not thinking of making a movie... oh!" Mrs. Ritter sneered coldly before suddenly flashing an expression of smugness in her eyes. "Your aunt is in charge of reviewing movies management! When that time comes..."

"You mean my little aunt?" Ashlyn swallowed nervously before continuing," Mom, although my little aunt has some power now but I don't think this is such a good idea? We shouldn't involve our entire family..." Abdullah Mcguire was Mr. Mcguire's cousin but he was considered part of the Mcguire family's collateral branch. He never expected himself to have quite some talent which allowed him to progress smoothly along his career path. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to marry Ashlyn's aunt, Ashly Ritter.

"I'll call your aunt right now since we're still family after all! Abdullah owes his success partly thanks to our help from the Ritter Family," Mrs. Ritter said before picking up her phone and heading towards the yard.

Watching Mrs. Ritters back emitting strong resentment even though it was just from behind made Ashyln feel worried.

Every time they clashed with Sylvia, the Ritters always lost miserably. This time... what would happen?

In the night sky where moonlight faded away slowly like smoke while stars were sparse, the whole world seemed asleep.

Sylvia came out of bathroom after taking shower; her skin was fair and tender while wet hair draped over shoulders. She used towel to wipe them off while walking around.

Franklin was reading a book when he heard some movement and looked up to see Sylvia. He couldn't help but feel his throat rolling and a hidden flame in his eyes.

He put the book aside and just as he was about to get up, Sylvia's phone vibrated. His expression froze for a moment, but he hesitated before handing her the phone. "Brock? What's going on calling me so late?"

Brock's voice sounded helpless. "Something happened with the movie."

"The movie? How could something happen?" While Sylvia answered the call, Franklin took over drying her hair with gentle movements, patiently wiping away the wet strands.
