Chapter 867

"EMPEROR? Did he really think he was an emperor?" Sylvia sneered, a sharp glint in her cold eyes.

Franklin met her beautiful gaze and his heart skipped a beat at the sight of her delicate face. "Is EMPEROR dealing illegal weapons in the red-light district?"

Casey nodded vigorously. "Yes, many of the arms deals in the red-light district are run by him. Since it's already an illegal area, what he does there is technically legal. But if he takes his business outside of tha area, it becomes illegal. We've only heard rumors about him taking people to H Rovirsa so if you want to investigate further, that's where you should start."

"He leads a group called EMPEROR's Green Army and they're disgusting and despicable," Casey continued with a shudder. "They only rose to power within the past six months or so; before that there was no sign of EMPEROR in the red-light district at all. It seems like his influence has been slowly growing since last year and now he's taken over many docks."

She couldn't help but shiver as she spoke about EMPEROR. "I'm afraid things won't be peaceful in the red-light district anytime soon. The injured men who stayed with me recently were fighting against EMPEROR's men and got hurt badly because of it. They hate him so much they told us everything they know about him."

After listening carefully to Casey's words, Sylvia nodded thoughtfully before speaking up again: "Thank you for providing this information; we hadn't considered investigating the red-light district before but now i seems necessary."

Previously they had been focused on investigating the Wilson Family but now it seemed like this matter was more complex than originally thought - the Wilson Family might not be responsible for everything after all.

Especially since Clark had gone missing without any trace.

Franklin let out a long sigh before grasping Sylvia's hand tightly. "I'll send Vaughn to investigate this matter."

His voice was low and melodious like a cello which made his words even more convincing.

Sylvia couldn't help but nod along. "Good idea."

"Secretly Greatly" was also helping them investigate the Hipps family while members from their own organization were looking into this matter as well.

Framing an ancient family wasn't something small - there were interests involved as well as various forces at play behind-the-scenes which made things complicated indeed!

After finishing the story about the Hipps family, Casey felt a bit shy and nervously tugged at her clothes. She glanced over at Sylvia before gathering up her courage to speak. "Miss Andrews, do you have any hidden illnesses? Why did you buy detox pills? If there's anything bothering you, I... I can take a look for you."

The Gentry family was known for their expertise in treating difficult and complex medical conditions.

Sylvia was taken aback for a moment. She hadn't even taken the detox pill yet, but considering the attitude of the Gentry family now, she hesitated before extending her wrist. "Please check my pulse." Casey sat down excitedly but then quickly jumped up again to wash his hands in the bathroom with a clatter of noise. After all, it was nerve-wracking to take someone's pulse as an act of gratitude.

He placed his fingers on Sylvia's wrist and after several minutes passed by, his nervous expression gradually turned serious.

After some time had passed by he finally let go of her hand and said to Carmelo, "Uncle Carmelo, please come take a look."

Carmelo glanced at his face before asking, "Master Casey, what happened? Is Miss Andrews' pulse abnormal?"

As he spoke he took over from where Casey had been sitting earlier and continued taking Sylvia's pulse.

"This pulse seems... at first glance, it appears normal - calm and steady with strength behind it - but later on, it becomes slightly tense with occasional surges which is..."

Carmelo withdrew his fingers from Sylvia's wrist while observing her face unusually closely. "Her complexion is healthy-looking, so she doesn't seem ill but this strange pulsation doesn't seem like an illness either..."

He looked back towards Casey again, saying, "Master, why don't we try bloodletting?"

Casey hurriedly asked Sylvia, "My benefactor, may we draw some blood for examination?"

Sylvia chuckled softly, saying, "Just a little bit will do."

She then had Jasper retrieve a needle from their hotel room storage box which she used to prick herself causing fresh blood droplets to well up on her finger tip.

"This blood looks bright red so it doesn't look like you're poisoned?"

"Wait... why does this blood also contain traces of gold?"

Both Casey and Carmelo were shocked by what they saw as they stared at Sylvia's bleeding finger tip.

"You..."

Sylvia wiped away the droplets from her finger using cotton swabs then pressed down firmly until no more bleeding occurred before discarding them into trash bin nearby saying; "Have you ever heard of something called Love Parasite?"

As soon as those words left her mouth both men's faces changed color simultaneously; "Love Parasite? They really exist in this world?"

"It disappeared from this world a long time ago, didn't it? How could it still exist?" Carmelo and Casey looked at each other in confusion.

Casey couldn't help but exclaim, "Could it be that you were poisoned by Love Parasite?"

Sylvia smiled as she looked at him. "Yes."

Casey widened her eyes in shock. "You were poisoned by Love Parasite and yet you can sit here perfectly fine? I heard that if someone is poisoned and doesn't have someone to temporarily quench their thirst, they will explode and die."

Carmelo's heart was pounding wildly. "I am lucky enough to meet a patient carrying the Love Parasite in my lifetime! It's truly an honor!"

"This Love Parasite was something I was poisoned with several years ago," Sylvia sighed softly. "Luckily, I met Franklin or else I would have died long ago. But unfortunately, once this toxin enters your body, it is very difficult to remove."

"There is no cure for this poison," Carmelo sympathetically glanced at Sylvia after hearing her words. "Even our Blood Medical Sect cannot solve it. You want the detoxification pill to solve the Love Parasite poison? There's no need for you to take it because it won't work."

"What about your family head?" Franklin scanned his deep gaze over both of them from the Gentry family.

"My father also cannot detoxify the poison of Love Parasite," Carmelo said helplessly while shaking his head. "I heard that ten years ago a medical master researched this forbidden item which had two pills produced back then but later on there were rumors that one pill was planted into someone's body who died shortly after taking them so they destroyed another one too because this uncurable poison of Love Parasite is too terrifying."

He knew some information due to his old age.

He stared at Sylvia with his cloudy old eyes. "I never thought another pill would end up inside your body; what happened to that medical master who researched such violent forbidden items?"

"Do you know where he went?" Franklin asked again.

"I heard he passed away," Carmelo said helplessly again while shaking his head. "People who are able to research such violent forbidden items won't live long. Miss Andrews, how did you get infected with this toxin?"

Not only him but also Jasper and Franklin were curious about how she got infected with such deadly toxins.

Casey was also very curious about how she got infected with these toxins.

Everyone's gaze fell on Sylvia immediately.

Sylvia still maintained her previous posture as she sat there expressionless but her eyes flickered slightly before speaking slowly after quite some time passed. "Five years ago, I went out on a mission and was attacked by robbers."

However, Franklin felt like things definitely weren't as simple as what she just said...

It must have been extremely dangerous, a matter of life and death.

"Don't worry, benefactor. the Gentry family will definitely replace a way to detoxify you. If it takes one year, then two years. We believe that we will eventually replace the solution," Casey reassured Sylvia.

Casey didn't like this eerie and uncomfortable atmosphere and quickly tried to comfort Sylvia. However, Sylvia just smiled it off and said, "Thank you." She had already accepted the fact that she might not be able to cure herself of it.

Whether or not they could replace a cure was all up to fate.

But Casey took the bloodstained cotton swab from her earlier and said, "Let's take this blood back for testing, so we can research it further. Hopefully we can make some new discoveries."

Carmelo nodded in agreement with Casey's suggestion. "Master Casey is right. Let's hurry back home now."

Casey felt like he was carrying a thousand pounds on his shoulders as he bid farewell to Miss Andrews. "Until next time."

Sylvia and Franklin stood up as well. "No need for us to see you out."

After seeing off the members of the Gentry family, Sylvia closed the window while looking at the gray sky outside.

Franklin hugged her from behind, gently saying, "It doesn't matter what happens with Love Parasite; I'll always be here by your side."

Sylvia's eyes flickered slightly before she finally embraced him back after hesitating for quite some time.

She wanted to tell him how scared she was that she wouldn't be able to conceive or bear children because of Love Parasite but Franklin's phone rang before she could speak about it.

So instead, Sylvia let go of him while Franklin answered his phone call briefly, "I understand what needs doing next; I'll take care of everything."

Sylvia looked at him suspiciously asking, "What do you mean by 'what needs doing next'? What are you planning?"

Franklin put away his phone, then held her hand sitting down on their sofa, saying, "Honey, have you ever thought about what our wedding would look like?"

Sylvia blinked in confusion, replying bluntly, "Our wedding? No, I haven't thought about it."

Franklin couldn't help but laugh at how straightforward her answer was, "Don't girls usually fantasize about their weddings? You've never imagined yours?"

"Nope," replied Sylvia firmly, thinking that daydreaming about weddings were boring when there were more important things in life than imagining them all day long. Franklin wrapped an arm around her waist lovingly whispering, "Oh my dear wife-to-be... what am I going to do with you?"

Sylvia clasped onto his fingers responding simply, "Just live well together without worrying too much over trivial matters."

She had no idea how unromantic she sounded nor did she realize how cute Franklin found her straightforwardness endearing beyond words.

His Sylvia, how could she be so adorable?

Foster Residence, Urgford, H Rovirsa.

Darius answered the phone as he walked downstairs. Old Mrs. Foster was with Bethany downstairs, "Bethany's drawing is amazing!"

Although she wasn't in the Women and Children Protection Association, Bethany's studies were not delayed.

She was practicing drawing.

"Planner Z really agreed?" Darius looked excited, "Great! I'll make a document with my ideas and requests and send it to you. Thank you, Manager."
