Chapter 902

Then he forced himself to stand up, using all his strength to wave his hands and try to get the attention of the people on the plane.

The wind was blowing at a force of seven or eight levels, and the rain was even denser. The wind carried raindrops that hit his face like dense bullets. It hurt, especially so!

His eyes couldn't open in the dense wind and rain; he could only squint. The sky was dark, and his vision was severely affected.

The rescue team was struggling on a bumpy mountain road. However, with such strong winds and heavy rain, their progress was slow.

Romeo felt hopeless; there's no way anyone on the plane could see them. All their phones were dead or soaked by rainwater - they were in complete darkness. He heard the sound of an approaching plane getting louder but when he tried to shout out for help, all he got in return were gusts of wind pouring into his mouth making him unable to speak clearly.

Even though Romeo waved his hands so hard that they almost broke off from exhaustion, it seemed like nobody noticed him at all.

He had almost no strength left as he collapsed onto the muddy ground surrounded by unconscious companions while James lay dying beside him.

Tears streamed down Romeo's face once again as he wiped them away fiercely. Suddenly a deep voice came through a loudspeaker. "Is anyone there?" That... was transmitted through a loudspeaker!

He used up all his energy picking up a stone then threw it heavily towards where the voice came from. "Here... here..."

His voice shattered amidst fierce winds mixed with heavy rainfall - it simply couldn't be heard over such noise pollution! He felt hopeless...

Just then, light shone through straight into this area despite being obscured by curtains of water droplets falling from above!

Romeo struggled excitedly trying to sit up but having thrown that rock earlier had already exhausted what little energy remained within him - now... he didn't have any strength left whatsoever... Nelson charged ahead as captain of Eagle Rescue Team shouting loudly. "Is anyone there?"

"Is anyone there?" Other members kept yelling non-stop. "If someone is here, please respond!"

However, the only response they received were howling winds along with thunderous sounds caused by torrential rains beating against mountainsides nearby...

Suddenly though, a stone fell into a puddle nearby causing ripples which immediately caught their attention! Nelson shouted loudly, "Go over there! Maybe someone is around!"

The deputy captain furrowed his brow, looking at the unknown darkness ahead. "Captain, maybe that rock fell from above."

"How do we know if there's really someone there if we don't try? What if someone is really in need of help?" Nelson glanced at him and then looked in the direction where the rock had been thrown. So he led a group of team members towards that direction, walking with one foot lower than the other.

Meanwhile, Franklin and Sylvia had already arrived in this dense forest. The helicopter was being blown around by strong winds in the sky, almost on the verge of crashing.

Fortunately, the pilots were all experienced elites from SouthStar Airlines.

But everywhere here were steep mountains or dense forests making it very difficult for a plane to land.

Finally, Franklin made a decision. "Lower down the ladder."

"That's too dangerous!" Jasper was startled. "Mr. Franklin, with such strong winds blowing like this, the ladder will definitely be swaying wildly in mid-air!"

"Saving people is more important; James and others are still down there with their lives hanging by a thread." Franklin said with some headache as he held Sylvia's hand tightly. "You stay up here obediently and wait for me to come back."

Franklin's voice hit her heart like a heavy hammer. Sylvia shook her head and said. "I've lived alone in these woods for a month before; my survival skills aren't worse than yours when it comes to wilderness survival techniques. I'm going down too."

She looked down at that deep dark forest below them before quickly putting on her raincoat which she had prepared earlier along with her rain boots which she put on immediately after that.

She also carried an emergency rescue pack on her back.

Her movements were quick enough to leave no time for Franklin to react properly.

Franklin helplessly watched as she did everything so fast; he really didn't want her taking any risks herself like this!

"Honey... don't be impulsive..."

"Franklin," Sylvia suddenly leaned closer to him; Her face was so beautiful it seemed unreal - smooth fair skin radiating light, while her eyes stared firmly into his eyes - causing his heartstrings tremble slightly- ultimately sighing silently. "Okay then... let's go together."

The cabin door opened wide, allowing howling wind rush inside, making their cheeks feel numb from its coldness.

As soon as Franklin thought about his younger brother being in such a dangerous environment, his thick eyebrows furrowed. "After we replace him, I'm going to give him a good beating before anything else. Let's see if he still dares to joke around with his life." His cold voice was even colder than the harsh wind blowing around them.

"We don't even know how he's doing right now... and you want to beat him up already?" Sylvia glared at him. "Let's hurry up and get ready to go down there."

Franklin nodded and quickly put on his raincoat and boots, fully armed for the mission ahead. Once everything was set, he suddenly pulled Sylvia into a tight embrace and climbed down the ladder with her in tow.

Jasper followed closely behind them.

The wind roared fiercely as rain pelted down on them relentlessly. In Franklin's warm embrace, Sylvia rested her head against his chest, feeling the heat radiating from his body while listening to the howling winds in her ears.

It was freezing cold under these harsh weather conditions - at least several degrees below zero. Franklin couldn't help but curse James repeatedly in his mind when he saw Sylvia's hair being blown by the wind.

If it weren't for that clumsy little brat of a brother of mine, Sylvia wouldn't have had to suffer through this ordeal with us here!

The ladder slowly descended until they finally reached a slope where they all landed safely despite having been buffeted by strong gusts of wind that made it difficult for them to maintain their balance while holding onto it tightly.

They started walking deeper into the mountains one step at a time but after walking for what seemed like ages without seeing any sign of either Eagle Rescue Team or James' group anywhere nearby. Sylvia's hands and feet were numb from being frozen stiff while her face turned pale from exposure to biting winds that cut through every layer she wore no matter how thickly dressed she was underneath all those clothes!

Franklin held onto her hand tightly, although they were both well-prepared beforehand; wearing multiple layers didn't seem enough protection against such inclement weather conditions!

Jasper wore headlamps which made it easier for everyone else since carrying flashlights by hand not only tired out their arms but also consumed energy more quickly than necessary under these circumstances!

Suddenly Franklin heard someone shouting out excitedly nearby. "We found them! Over there!"

Although this voice sounded muffled due its scattering amidst high winds blowing around everywhere yet thanks partly perhaps because of some innate martial arts talent or heightened sense abilities compared others present among their group - Franklin could hear it clearly enough nonetheless!

"Let's go! We'll follow that sound!" He said as he led Sylvia along with Jasper towards where they heard those voices coming from...

The path beneath their feet became increasingly muddy making progress harder each step forward taken along an increasingly narrow trail...

Due to the difficult terrain, they had a hard time walking. After walking for a while, they saw several lights shining not far away. There were about a dozen men there, with one tall man standing at the front preparing to carry a young boy on his back.

That man was none other than Nelson.

"Let's go! Each person carries one and hurry up! If we delay any longer in this valley, we'll soon be flooded by water and no one will be able to escape," Nelson said.

Upon hearing Nelson's voice, Franklin looked in the direction of his gaze and saw a crack behind the valley where water was constantly flowing out. If they delayed any longer, more water would flow towards them and could potentially flood them out.

Franklin knew that time was running out and there was no time to waste. He immediately led his team forward as well.

When Nelson saw Franklin appear, he paused for a moment before saying, "Mr. Maskelyne, you're here?"

Franklin nodded at him before taking James from Nelson's back onto his own, saying, "I can't thank you enough."

Jasper carried several boys with some of their brothers because it was too cold there.

"Did anyone get left behind?" Franklin shouted loudly.

"No! All eighteen are here," Nelson replied immediately. "Let's hurry up or else if this crack breaks open then who knows how much floodwater will come down from behind the mountain."

As captain of the rescue team, he had plenty of experience, so everyone quickly turned around with all those boys in tow leaving that area behind them.

The helicopter continued hovering above their heads on top of the mountain.

Half an hour later, all these people arrived at that small hillside where they climbed up into the helicopter via ladder one by one until everyone had boarded safely including Nelson's group.

Just as Sylvia turned around, unintentionally catching sight of almost falling grass trampled by stormy winds near edge side slope which she recognized as an extremely rare herb called Nevernight Grass.

She froze momentarily before rushing towards it without thinking twice while Franklin stood ahead waiting for her since she came last among others who boarded first onto helicopter earlier than her after seeing off those rescued boys safely along with Jasper's group too.

Suddenly, she ran towards the edge of the hill like a madwoman. At that moment, Nelson had already climbed halfway up the ladder and saw the rushing flood!

He looked at the two people still below and shouted loudly, "Flash flood! Come up quickly!"

It was too late to say anything.

Sylvia had already grabbed onto Nevernight Grass and pulled with all her might!

Franklin stared wide-eyed as the flash flood roared towards them like a madman. It was about to sweep Sylvia away when he yelled, "Sylvia!"

At the same time, he reached out his arm towards Sylvia!

He used almost all his strength.

And Sylvia leaped forward and grabbed his hand.
