Chapter 51 Begging for Mercy

Anna felt a moment of panic and tightly clenched her fists.

She swallowed hard, suppressing the rising anxiety, and pretended to be calm. "I don't understand what are you talking about, Miss Wilson. What did I do? I have no idea." Leah's gaze grew colder, and she retorted, "Still trying to play innocent?"

Anna believed that the surveillance footage couldn't be restored and that Leah was just pretending to accuse her.

"I didn't do anything! What do I need to defend myself for?"

At first, Anna had been defiant, but she abruptly fell silent when Leah turned the computer screen toward all of them.

On the screen, the footage clearly showed how Anna had tricked Layla away and went to the lounge to steal the speech.

Leah's eyes filled with chillness, and her sharp gaze pierced directly at Anna.

"Anna, now that the truth has come out, what do you have to say for yourself?"

Anna hadn't expected Leah to actually have the ability to recover the surveillance footage. Panic flashed in her eyes, and her face turned ashen. The technical expert had already claimed that this footage couldn't be restored.

Anna couldn't help but wonder how Leah had done it.

"I... I didn't do it! This surveillance footage must have been edited! Yes, that must be it!" Anna's voice trembled as she tried to defend herself.

The others all looked at her as if she was out of her mind.

"Come on. We all saw it with our own eyes. Miss Wilson recovered the surveillance footage on her own, and there was no editing involved!"

"No wonder Anna was so agitated when Miss Wilson was trying to recover the footage. It turns out that she was the thief."

"I guess Anna thought Miss Wilson

wouldn't be able to recover the footage, so she suggested coming to the control room to check it out. She probably had never expected Miss Wilson to be so capable How ridiculous!"

The mockery of the crowd made Anna feel very humiliated. She bit her lip, looking utterly embarrassed.

She wanted to argue and replace excuses to exonerate herself, but the evidence was right before her.

She seemed powerless even to defend herself.

"I said before that our company has zero tolerance for such malicious behavior. Anna, I'm officially notifying you that you are fired," Leah declared with an icy tone, her expression calm and unwavering.

"No... please, Miss Wilson, I... It was just a momentary lapse in judgment. Can't you give me another chance, considering that I've served the company for a long time? I promise this won't happen again."

Although Anna disliked Leah and felt

antagonistic toward her, Lia

Jewellery had excellent benefits,

especially for its long-serving employees. She had worked hard to

reach her current position and didn't want to lose this lucrative job.

So, even though she despised Leah, she needed to yield to secure this job.

"You want me to give you a chance

just because you're a longstanding employee?" Leah sneered coldly. "Then what if someone else like you makes the same mistake tomorrow? Should I forgive them too? The company would be in chaos! How could it work like that?"

Anna was rendered speechless by Leah's words.

"Well, I..."

Leah glanced at Anna coldly. "When you make a mistake, you must take responsibility for your actions. I won't change my mind."
