Chapter 17 It’s You!
After Aiden glanced at Angelina, he grabbed his coat and walked out of the room. As she watched him leave, tears uncontrollably flowed down her face. What’s wrong with me? Why did I snap at Aiden so horribly? Why have I spoken such heartbreaking words? Although Angelina and Aiden shared no affection, they had spent the past three years living together, and never had she treated him in such a way. Nevertheless, as prideful as she was, she refused to go after him and decided that she would explain herself to him when he returned. When Linda heard the commotion upstairs, she hadn’t even had the time to figure out what the fuss was all about when she saw Aiden storming downstairs and out of the house with an icy expression. Unfortunately, the moment she realized what happened, Aiden was already out of the door, so she could only grumble, “Now that you’ve learned to leave, I dare you not to come back again!” After Aiden left the stifling household, he came to a riverbank. As he stood still by the river, he peered at the tranquil waters of the river. There was no breeze tonight, and the river’s surface resembled a mirror that would instill serenity within hearts. “Am I in love with her?” Aiden smiled bitterly. “Why am I so pissed off when she mentioned Ray’s name?” “Ah!” As he was immersed in his thoughts, a woman’s scream suddenly pierced through the silent night. He instinctively turned to the source of the noise, only to see a woman in a rather provocative outfit shouting on the riverbank and drawing the passersby’s attention. Once the woman let out a yell, she turned around. However, as soon as she saw Aiden, her face was filled with joy, after which she rushed toward him and pleasantly exclaimed, “It’s you!” When Aiden took a good look at the woman, he recalled that this was the woman in the hospital that day. If he wasn’t mistaken, she said that she was Gina. Thus, he reciprocated with a smile of his own. “It’s you!” “Why did you leave so frantically that day? I didn’t even get to know your name. There’s not a scar in sight, I hope?” Gina inquired. Aiden shook his head before he answered, “Nope. Something urgent came up back then, so I had to leave immediately. My name’s Aiden.” “Why are you alone?” Gina tilted her head curiously. He let out a somewhat dejected chuckle before replying, “I was driven out by my wife.” “You’re married?” Gina was clearly surprised to hear that. “Who would’ve thought?” With that, she realized how flirtatious she sounded and hastily added, “What I mean to say is that you look no older than me, yet you’re already married!” “Haha!” Aiden laughed. “What about you? Why did you come to the river and make such a fuss?” “Sigh… Something irritating happened back at home, so I came here to vent my anger,” Gina uttered after heaving an annoyed sigh. Suddenly, she raised her head and blinked her eyes as she suggested playfully, “Wanna have some fun with big sis?” “Big sis? How old are you, even?” Aiden retorted in amusement. “Older than you, that’s for sure!” She chortled. “Come, let’s go clubbing!” With that, she grabbed Aiden’s hand and dragged him away from the riverbank. When they arrived at their destination, Aiden stared at Gina’s car and shook his head in astonishment. She’s a rich woman as well!? When she saw that he was still in a daze, she urged, “Well? Get in!” “Lamborghini Veneno! Priced at twenty-five million, it has a maximum power output of 552 kilowatts per hour—740 horsepower! Its acceleration from zero to a hundred miles per hour takes only 2.8 seconds, while its designed maximum speed is 354 miles per hour! This fiery red one suits you very well!” Aiden complimented with an awed sigh. “Little brat, you sure know your cars, huh!” Gina snorted. “It’s a birthday present from my grandpa. That’s neither here nor there. Just get in here!” After they got into the car, she immediately stomped on the gas pedal. The Lamborghini Veneno let out a blaring roar before speeding away like an arrow through the fields, and the thundering boom drew envious gazes from the passersby. During their impromptu journey, Aiden learned that Gina was the precious pearl of the Harper Family, one of the most elite families in Keyland. She was three years older than him. Earlier, she expressed the idea of demoting the family members and relatives who possessed high ranks in the company but had no contributions to their names to the backline of the company. Her family was enraged by the idea and eventually got into a heated quarrel with her. Eventually, a frustrated Gina went to the riverbank to alleviate her anger and coincidentally bumped into Aiden, who shared the same feelings as her. Aiden sat in the car as he assiduously observed her. Her chin was sharp, and her hair was naturally wavy. She sported a tight white shirt designed for formal wear and wore stockings up to her hip. Her appearance and the aura she exuded were that of a mature lady. Although Gina’s eyes were on the road, she suddenly said, “Aren’t your eyes naughty, young Aiden?” Aiden’s face immediately crimsoned at her teasing. Indeed, it was impolite to look at a gentlewoman this way. Hence, he let out an awkward cough and turned his head toward the window. Gina snickered at his bashfulness and asked, “Aren’t you married? Why are you so shy?” Soon, the Lamborghini Veneno was parked right in front of a well-known club. After Gina flounced out of the car, she brought Aiden into the building as if she was familiar with the place. Nonetheless, she was drastically different on the dance floor compared to how she behaved outside, making it evident that she was a regular customer of such clubs. Unfortunately, the same couldn’t be said for Aiden, as he found the environment far too nosy for his tastes. After a few rounds of rowdy dancing, Gina returned to her seat and chugged down some beer, leaving Aiden dumbstruck. So, he kindly warned, “You’re chugging it down? You’re going to get drunk!” “Tsk, you don’t even know your big sis’ capabilities. Why don’t you drink?” Gina shouted loudly due to the loud music. Aiden shook his head and yelled back, “I don’t like alcohol!” “Wow! What a surprisingly nice married man!” Gina exclaimed as she cackled. “Nice married man?” The man let out a deprecating smile. Just as he expected, Gina grew tipsy soon enough. It also didn’t take long for him to be unable to withstand the rowdiness. Hence, he waved his hands and gestured at the door to signal his desire to leave. After they pushed their way out of the club, he took a deep breath of fresh air and turned to Gina. “Where do you live? Let me send you home!” “I don’t wanna go home! Let’s go for another round!” Gina crowed. “Another round? You’re already wasted!” Aiden countered in disapproval. As though Aiden’s wish was granted, the breeze suddenly blew upon Gina, and the alcohol started to take effect. Her face became as red as a tomato, though it was an undeniably beguiling sight. So, he could only help her get into the passenger seat while he sat in the driver’s seat. Right as he was about to ask her for her address, he found that she was already fast asleep. “Another round, she said.” Aiden shook his head with a resigned grin. What am I going to do? I can’t just leave her here! He did attempt to wake her up, sadly to no avail. Left with no choice, he could only bring her to a hotel for her to spend the night. When Aiden ordered the room, the receptionist revealed a knowing grin that disgusted him, as if she perceived him as a rascal who would take advantage of a drunk lady. Unbeknownst to him, as he was helping Gina get into the hotel, someone snapped a photo of it, and that person was none other than Angelina’s fellow university attendee, Ray. After he placed Gina down on the bed, he intended to leave. Alas, she threw up on him just as he was about to leave. But he knew she was drunk as a skunk, so he could only cover her body with a blanket and take off his shirt before taking a bath. Nonetheless, before going for a shower, he handed his coat to the hotel staff for a wash. Meanwhile, Gina was spreadeagled on the bed, basically hogging the entire bed to herself. The instant Aiden took a glimpse at her thighs, he instantly felt his blood pumping and hastily turned away. He immediately covered her body with the blanket and decided to wait the night out on the couch. The following day, the blazing ray of the sun landed on Gina’s face, which caused her to squint her eyes in annoyance. By the time she was aware, she had found herself waking up in an unfamiliar hotel room. Hence, she became wide awake as she immediately checked her clothes. Her pounding heart finally slowed after seeing them intact, and she released a long sigh of relief. Still, she quickly scanned her surroundings, only to replace Aiden sleeping on the couch. He’s been here with me the entire night! Gina felt rather touched that he would go out of his way to care for her.
