Chapter 7 Seven Stars of Life
“That’s because you’ve overtaxed the child’s body. When that black line reaches his head, he won’t have long to live,” Aiden said with a frown. After Dr. Zenith overcame his shock from the discovery, he intoned gravely, “You are a doctor, Young Boy!” He nodded before sighing in resignation, “Make way, please.” Once Dr. Zenith heard that he immediately moved away from the consultation table. Aiden went up and took his place as he motioned for the lady to position the child’s back toward him. The lady had overheard their conversation earlier, so she readily cooperated with his instruction and didn’t hesitate to lift the child’s shirt once more. Aiden picked out seven silver needles from the needle pouch on the table and examined the child for a moment before swiftly placing the needles on seven meridians on the child’s back. “The Seven Stars of Life?!” Dr. Zenith gasped in astonishment. He glanced at Dr. Zenith and then commented, “I’m surprised you know.” “I read about it in an ancient guide when I was learning medicine from my teacher, but it was incomplete. My teacher’s needle technique is considered a long-lost art!” Dr. Zenith muttered in awe. Aiden didn’t reply as he was busy feeling for the child’s pulse instead. Once he had a firm grasp of the situation, he directed his attention to the mother, “Miss, please be patient. I’ll need to do another needle procedure on him in order to wake him up. ” “Oh. Okay. Please help him,” she replied hurriedly. “Sigh. Even if the child wakes up, you still need to bring him to the hospital, Ms. Griffin!” Dr. Zenith advised her. He did own a medical center, but there were some illnesses that only hospitals could cure. “There’s no need for such a fuss. The child will be alright with some medication after this acupuncture session,” Aiden interjected calmly. “W-What?” Dr. Zenith stared at him with his mouth agape. The lady looked at him in disbelief as well. She was a regular customer of Dr. Zenith. He even checked the child’s body and said that something was growing in the brain. So, the child required an operation to remove the tumor. But the young man before her was saying that everything would be fine. “Mister, are you telling the truth?” the lady asked earnestly. Aiden smiled and nodded. Then, with three silver needles in his hand, he placed two on the sides of the child’s head before placing his palm on the child’s chest. Finally, he held the last needle with his right hand and inserted it into the GV-20 point. “Ah! No!” Dr. Zenith shouted, wholly aghast when he witnessed that, but Aiden was too quick. The needle was already inserted into the child’s head before he could say anything else. After the last insertion, the child’s body shook before he slowly opened his eyes and looked at the lady before him, whispering feebly, “Mommy, did I pass out again?” “You’re awake! Thank god!” The lady cried happy tears. She had been tense ever since her child had gotten sick. Of course, it didn’t help that every time he fainted… She would worry that he would never wake. “Give him some salt water when you return home. He might expel some mucus tomorrow. That’s because the stuff in his brain needs an outlet,” Aiden said with a light chuckle. Then, he wrote another prescription on a piece of paper and passed it to her before telling her to follow it to the letter. He also reassured her that as long as the child took the medicine for a week, all would be well. But, before she touched the paper, Dr. Zenith snatched it and started reading. His hands were trembling as he read and muttered with blank eyes, “Why didn’t I think of this? Why?!” After the lady graciously thanked Aiden and left, Dr. Zenith blinked his dazed eyes at Aiden. “Um… Mister…” “Be my guest!” Aiden said with a wave of his hand. “Can I have a copy of this recipe?” Dr. Zenith asked anxiously. It was common for doctors to refuse to share their recipes with others to prevent their unique skills from being stolen. “You can keep it if you like,” Aiden said with a benevolent smile. “Thank you!” Dr. Zenith immediately beamed upon hearing Aiden’s generosity. “I’m sorry for my behavior earlier. I have just the right furnace for you. Do you want to take it with you?” Aiden was elated but said, “I don’t want to take it. I just intend to borrow it for a moment, may I?” Even if Dr. Zenith gifted him the furnace, he had nowhere to keep it. What if he took it home? How was he going to explain to Angelina and Linda that he was refining herbs? Would they believe him? There was even a high chance that Linda would use this chance to berate him and make his life even more difficult than it had to be. “Of course! This way,” Dr. Zenith answered respectfully. Aiden didn’t bother with the pleasantries and followed him into the chamber. He spread out the herbs he had just bought and wasted no time lighting up the furnace. Once Dr. Zenith noticed that Aiden was engrossed in his work, he immediately turned around and left the room without any prompting. That improved Aiden’s impression of him as normal people would try to secretly watch him and learn by the side. It wasn’t that Aiden was wary of him. He would be glad to teach Dr. Zenith a thing or two if he was refining some regular pills. Unfortunately, he was going to make the Marrow Cleansing Pill that martial artists would replace helpful and would do the old doctor no favors. In fact, things might go south if Dr. Zenith possessed such knowledge. After an hour, Aiden kept the pill he had just made and exited the chamber before bidding goodbye to Dr. Zenith and returning home. When he finally had the mind to take a look at the time, he entered the kitchen and thought to himself. I forgot about groceries when making the pill. I suppose we’ll just have to make do. Then, Aiden started cooking. That was what Angelina saw when she got home and frowned at his stay-at-home husband’s look. He’s hopeless! She went up to change without bothering to talk to him. Soon after, Linda also returned home carrying far too many bags in her hand. Then, she placed the Chanel bag on her arm on the wine counter like she was displaying a treasure. Aiden finished cooking right on time and efficiently served the dishes on the table. Yet, Linda was displeased as she frowned at the two plates on the table and asked in confusion, “Only two dishes today?” “And soup,” Aiden replied lightly. “That’s it?” “That’s it!” Linda nodded and didn’t say anything before turning around to wash her hands. He looked at her in surprise. This was probably the first time she had not gotten angry in the past three years. It seemed that was the power of money. Nevertheless, he didn’t bring attention to it as he went upstairs and gently knocked on Angelina’s door. “Dinner’s ready.” “Okay. Coming!” Then, no more sound could be heard from the room. He put on a helpless smile and went down on his own. She saw the two plates on the table and glanced at Linda. Even though she wasn’t picky about food, she was shocked to see Linda not have a go at Aiden. This was something she couldn’t wrap her mind around. But she understood why when she saw the Chanel bag on the wine counter. She knew Linda only had eyes on money. She probably didn’t get angry because of that 20 thousand she had taken from Aiden. Nevertheless, Angelina was still suspicious. Did Aiden think that he’s better off now that he earned 20 thousand? “Why are there only two dishes today?” Angelina asked lightly. Aiden heard that and explained, “I had something to do in the afternoon and forgot to get groceries.”
