all god's orphans
Chapter 27

Millie drove as far as she could before the sun got too low and she needed to stop. She pulled off the highway and into the empty parking lot of a small hotel. She shut the engine off and just sat there for a while letting the vibrations of the road dissipate. Her hands hurt from gripping the steering wheel to death for so many miles. Kite and Grey waited for her to speak. They had learned that trying to prod her got them nowhere. Finally she released the wheel and picked up her little device.

“I know that you have questions. I don’t know that I have answers, but I will try to tell you what I know but not now. Okay.” They didn’t respond. “That was supposed to be a question. As in, is that okay?” They exchanged a glance and nodded. “We will rest here tonight and tomorrow we can talk.”

In the lobby they watched as she rummaged around behind the desk assembling certain items that they could not identify. She put one thing in another thing. Pressed things on another machine and then emerged holding small rectangles.

“Here you go.” She typed. “Follow me.” Millie led them upstairs to a long corridor lined with doors. She took one of the cards and placed it in a slot on the door. There was a clicking sound and the door opened. “You stay here.” She told Grey. She repeated the action on another door. “Kite can go here.” She handed the card to Kite. “Put it in here like this and the door opens. Do you understand?” Kite nodded. “Good. I will be in this one. Get some rest.” With that, she disappeared into a room across from theirs leaving them in the hallway. Kite looked into her room. The bed was large and there was a small desk with a chair. It looked very lonely to her. Grey understood her hesitation. He didn’t want to be alone either.

“Would you like to stay in here with me for a while?” He asked. Kite’s face lit up.

“Yes.” She said, her smile widening. As the door closed behind them, they realized they had no idea what to do now. Grey sat down on the bed as Kite took the seat at the desk. After an uncomfortable silence, Kite spoke.

“What do you think is happening? Where is she taking us?” She asked, more out of a need to break the silence than anything else. Her true thoughts were more immediate, but she didn’t know how to express them. Grey shook his head.

“I don’t know. She seems to know what she’s doing though.”

“Was she one of the others? The ones who put us in that room?”

“If she was, then it doesn’t make sense that she would be helping us now.”

“You’re sure that she’s helping us then?” Kite wasn’t so sure.

“She got us out of there. That’s all I need to know.”

“I suppose.” Kite’s eyes fell. She couldn’t stop thinking about the display in the mall. The man and the woman. What she felt standing there, looking at it, she couldn’t name, but it had been growing all day. Starting deep in her core, a warmth had begun to spread so that now, it had reached all the way to her fingertips and was pulsating from a spot between her legs. Inscrutable animal hungering sat in the pit of her and she…desired. Yes, that was it. She wanted. It was more than a base thought, more than just sex, but something deep within her was turning every single thought she had to devouring Grey.

Kite shifted uncomfortably in her chair. Suddenly, she couldn’t look him in the eye.

“What is it?” He asked, the tenderness in his voice lighting fires in her veins. She smiled demurely and purred.

“Nothing.” He knew she was lying, but he also sensed that pressing her was a bad idea.

“Listen,” He began. “I understand how you feel. I’m scared, too.” She once again met his gaze. Her large brown eyes held no guile and made him feel powerful beyond measure. “We don’t have to be alone anymore. Whatever happens, we can be there for each other. After all, I can honestly say that I don’t know anyone better than I know you.” He smiled and she laughed a little lyrical bit.

“I would like that.” She said. “I don’t want to be alone.”

“Nobody does.” He reached out and put his hand on her knee to reassure her and it was like lighting a fuse. She tried to sit still but it became unbearable.

“May I do something?” She asked, her heart fluttering.

“Of course.” He said, not expecting what happened next. In one movement, she slid from the chair and straddled him, putting her lips to his. Her directness startled him, but as he felt her body press against his and her warmth radiate from every curve, he sunk into her, pulling her close. Their kiss was fumbling and inartful, like virgins on prom night, but neither of them knew it. They could only feel the wet intimacy of it as their tongues slid beside each other. She seemed to feel his entire mouth with her kiss and he fell backwards from the force of it. Either that, or she had pushed him back, he couldn’t tell and didn’t care.

They tore at each other’s clothes, peeling them off as though they were on fire. Grey felt his groin explode into life as she lifted her shirt and freed her breasts. They moved only slightly as she threw her shirt aside, their firmness keeping them mostly in place. Her small nipples were the color of a desert rose, just like her lips, and he lifted himself from the bed to feel them in his mouth. The contact brought a small groan from her mouth and she smiled, pulling his head tighter against her chest.

Nerve endings sparked to life and drove them on. She yanked off his pants as she removed her own and when she climbed back on top of him, he slid inside her so easily that neither of them had to try. She stopped for an instant and let the moment hit her full force before slowly easing all the way down onto his cock. It was enough to very nearly cause them both to come at the same time. Almost. She began to move, grinding her hips slowly at first and then quicker. He watched from below as she moved to an ancient song, her back arching and relaxing at intervals. His hands slid all over her. He felt the muscles of her round ass tighten like a clenched jaw. This feeling had no end for them. They knew nothing of orgasms. They only knew that at this moment, they were free from every bad thing in the universe. It drove them on, lambent nerve endings flickering in luminescent ecstasy, their bodies demanding more and more until Kite’s spine shot straight up and her orgasm erupted throughout her body, freezing in place momentarily as it lit up her nervous system. The sight of it caused Grey’s hips to rise from the bed as he came, panting and grunting, his hands squeezing her tits. In an instant, the moment released them both and they collapsed into each other. Kite lay on Grey’s chest listening to his heart pounding in its cage. A calm descended on her that she had never felt in this life and suspected she had never felt before in her other life. Her body had experienced something new.

They fell asleep like that, almost instantly. Relaxed and safe in each other’s arms, they slept without dreaming.
