A chill crept into my heart as I faced the man lecturing me. Despite being his own sister, I was overshadowed by Elara. I struggled to reconcile this with the man who had once clashed with
Mr. David on my behalf.
Back then, he had showered me with affection.
But Elara’s presence was like a radiant beam of light, redeeming him in ways I couldn’t
understand. In our childhood, both of us had
lacked maternal love, and he had suffered from uremia. Elara seemed like a distant moonbeam, something he could never touch. In her
presence, he always felt inferior. Whenever a dispute arose between Elara and me, he sided
with her, blaming me even when I wasn’t at fault. To him, I always seemed petty.

Our arguments grew fiercer over time, but as his favoritism towards Elara became more apparent, I chose silence. Though deeply hurt, I felt powerless against his bias. Now, a single accusation from Elara had driven him to the hospital, demanding an explanation and completely disregarding my inability to play the piano or the fact that my hand had been shattered by Soren.
I looked at the man before me, feeling a profound sense of distance and estrangement. He was no longer the protective brother concerned for my well–being; he belonged to someone else now and no longer cared for me.

He stood and walked to the door, his voice chillingly cold. “Aria, if this happens again, I won’t acknowledge you as my sister.”
His words echoed like a distant, haunting refrain in the empty hospital room. I stared at the swaying door, tears streaming silently down my face.
