Alpha Dominic
Chapter 121

Dominic's POV

The joy in her face was just too beautiful to ignore. I have never seen her this happy since she came into this castle. The fact that I am the reason why she is smiling so happily is enough to bring smiles to my face as well. If I had known that she would be this happy if her mother's sister come here to be with her, I would have brought them over a long time ago. She hugged me so tightly, kissing me full on the lips before running to hug her mom and her sister. The same goes for all my guards and warriors whose families were at the Alphas lodge as well, I could see the joy and the smiles all over their faces as they got reunited with their families. I never realized how much they missed their families, it is so good to see them all looking so happy. Like I said earlier, it is a welcome change and it gladdens my heart to see them this way. I can only imagine how happy they will be when this war is finally over, it would be a dream come true for me and my people.

I stood there watching their exchange of pleasantries, it was so good to see, that I had to force myself to turn around and head back inside so they can all have enough time to spend with their families. Besides, it is kind of embarrassing for a kind to stand at a spot like this, smiling like a f*****g i***t. It doesn't send a good message to my people, especially these ones who just came in right now. I have to make them see that I am fierce and strict. There will be no room for betrayals and there is certainly no room for leniency. I turned around to leave, but I was stopped by a voice in the crowd that is calling for help. It sounds so familiar, I'm so sure that I know that voice and that is why I turned around immediately to check out what was happening. "Over here, guards, Help!

Help!" she screamed once more, making me turn in her direction immediately. It was Harriet and she was holding her father in her arms, screaming and calling out for help. I ran in their direction immediately, ignoring the eyes of everyone around that just stood in their position and gazed curiously at the sight before them. I forgot about my pride and dignity and ran to him like a lunatic. I got to him in record time and I took him from her arms. Holding him tight so he doesn't fall down to the floor. The guards arrived some seconds later and they helped me lift him into my SUV. Harriet and her mom got in after him, pulling him into her arms as she sobbed hysterically with her mom. Harriet has been in this Castle with me for years, serving me faithfully. In all these years, I have never seen her cry, not even once. She is one of my best warriors and it bothers me to see her this way.

I don't know if the other can see what I am seeing right now, from my rearview mirror, I can see the purplish vein lines on his forehead and on his body. He has been poisoned with wolfsbane, and from what I can see, it is a deadly species, the kind that goes straight to the heart. I wonder why he did not alert anyone to his ailments while they were on their way here, I'm not sure they could have saved him, but at least they would have tried to slow down the poison. I know it is hard to say, but I don't think he will make it out of this hospital, he is too far gone.

Immediately I packed the car, and the guards and I jumped down from the car and lifted him once more, taking him into the hospital. It was so hard to take him into the hospital, he is so damn heavy, like a dead weight. Doctor Fred was alerted and he ran out and followed us into the hospital room as we placed him on the bed. He raised his head and gazed up at me. From the look on his face I could tell that he knows what I know as well, he already knows that there is no hope for him.

"D... Do...mi...nic," he called out, beckoning for me to come forward. I went forward and sat by the side of his bed, taking hold of his hand, smiling down at him, trying to reassure him that everything is okay,

"Stop looking so pathetic, I am the one on the deathbed and not you, so quit looking so miserable." He chided me with a weak smile, making me chuckle softly. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a powdered substance that looks like cocaine and he put it in my hand, smiling at me triumphantly.

"Y... Y... You were r.. right son. These plans involve the humans, that is why he is working with them." He muttered softly, speaking through ragged breath. I kept urging him to slow down so he doesn't give up before telling me everything he knows about this powder. He told me that this is the powder that king Ashford was trying to make all these years and he has succeeded in getting the exact ingredients, and mixture for his special powder. The Alphas were the test subjects for the king, Alpha Robert, had used it on them and that is why he was able to get them out of the Alphas lodge. He managed to tell me the work of the powder, telling me how he had gotten it and how he was poisoned. He was about to tell me how king Ashford plans on using the powder, but he wasn't able to, he started coughing violently, attracting the attention of his wife and daughter as they both came running to him. They had moved aside to give me some privacy as I talked to him. They surrounded him, holding him close as he kept coughing painfully. Some purplish liquid came out of him as he coughed. He kept holding his chest as he coughed, but the pain wouldn't stop and he refused to give up because he still has something to say to me. I looked up at doctor Fred and he understood immediately, then he went out of the room and came back a few seconds later with a potion in a syringe. He injected the potion into him easing his pains, making him die a lot peacefully. He stopped struggling and he stopped coughing, then he took his last breath and gave up immediately, lying still on the bed.

Harriet and her mom wouldn't stop crying, they stayed by his side, holding him tightly as they moaned him. I stood by the side, thinking about everything that he just told me. He had said that the powder works on werewolves and Lycans, King Ashford made it specifically for this war. It makes us weak and defenseless, making it easier for us to be killed. It doesn't work on humans, that is why king Ashford made an alliance with the humans, he needs them to fight this war for him, he won't be there to fight because his powder would affect him as well. It would affect the Lycans and the werewolves, Alpha Richard has risked his life to get us a sample of the powder, he died to help us win this war and he will never be forgotten.

Alpha Richard has tried to steal this powder from Bethany's father, that was how he got shot with wolfsbane. Bethany's father had done this to him, he has taken the life of Harriet's father, and he has done something that could ruin the friendship between Harriet and Bethany. He had spoken to me in whispers and I know that Harriet would never eavesdrop on our conversation. I wonder if I should tell her how he had really died, if she replaces out that he died at the hands of Bethany's father, would she still be friends with Bethany?

I guess this is one of those secrets that would never come to light until this war is over. I can't ruin their friendship, not after everything that we have all gone through. I handed the powder to doctor Fred to take it to his lab, he needs to examine it and see if the is anything he can do to make us immune to its poison. On the other hand, I think it is high time that I urge Bethany and Fiona to spend more time with Ciara so she can get well sooner. We need to speed up our visit to the big city, I need to replace a way to convince Lorenzo to work with me because from the look of things, we are going to need humans in this war as well. I guess I was right after all, I have always known that making Ashford was planning to use the humans for something, I know that he wouldn't form an alliance with them for nothing, he never does anything without reason. But I had no idea that his reasons would be so huge, I had no f*****g idea. It is his Trumpcard and now I have it in my hands as well. I'm glad I was able to get this information on time although it cost me the life of a very special friend. And as for that bastard that led the moles, I don't care if he is Bethany's father, when I finally catch up with him, I'll make him pay for everything he has done, he would regret going against me.
