Fenrir

POV

I stretched my neck staring blankly at the bright sun. I yawned for the umpteenth time already feeling bored about the whole thing. if I had known, I wouldn't have done any contests. I would have gone with the idea of picking lorena with no stress and now I have to wait until their cooking was completed. "quit complaining when you bought this upon yourself," draca hissed sounding pained as if he was mad about being under the tent. "if you had not been so crazy about having a stupid that could be avoided, I would have been f*****g one of the concubines right now but no," draca scoffed. "you just have to ruin everything for me!" he complained and started humming a song.

"quit complaining," I yelled at him but he didn't stop and continued whispering in my head.

"have you gone crazy!" I asked him but got no reply. I should be used to Draca's crazy attitude by now but I couldn't still understand why he tends to make life difficult for me. this was one of the reasons why I wanted to get rid of him and Lorena was the only breakthrough meaning she had to die for me to keep living.

"then watch as you lose your immortality," Draca laughed like a maniac. "I already gave you an option on the things that you can get but if you like, you can choose to ignore it and watch as everything turned out to be," he laughed yet again.

"stop interfering with everything that concerns me," I warned him and that was the end of our conversation.

"your highness," Romeo waved his hands on my face and I turned to face him with a glare on my face. "apologies your highness," he lowered his head. "I thought that you were sleeping," he said removing his hands from my face. "what do you have to say?" I asked him and he pointed forward.

"They have arrived," he pointed to the girls who were heading towards our tent but when I looked behind the girls, there was no sign of Lorena which made me wonder where she could be. I checked my Rolex watch for the time and realized that it was far spent she only had a few minutes left before the competition comes to an end. if she doesn't come on time then it only means that her name will be ruled out meaning that everything she did would all be for nothing.

where could she be? I continued to stare at the corner where the rest of the girls had come out from but she was nowhere to be found. I shifted on my seat and cleared my throat.

"It is only five minutes to the end of the competition but one of the concubines is nowhere to be found. where do you all think she is?" the announcer shouted over the microphone and heaved a sigh. "what do you all say we start this and ruled her name out?" she asked the girls.

"I believe that a great meal is best served when it is hot," Danielle answered and smiled sheepishly. "waiting for her would be a total waste of our time," she added.

"do you all girls agree to this?" the announcer asked and I saw them nodding their heads including angelica who had called lorena her friend.

"I don't think that the other concubine can make it because the last I saw her, she was still cooking and i....."

"I am here!" lorena shouted as she ran towards the rest of the girls. she raised her hands and pointed to the guards behind her. "I am here," she placed her hand on her chest as she struggled to catch her breath.

I heaved a sigh and adjusted myself on the chair. "loverboy," draca mocked me and I didn't bother replying to him because he was right at some point. I do care about lorena but I was no lover boy because everything that I felt for her was purely lustful. "hmmmmm," draca scoffed and I heaved a sigh wondering why I was stuck with a demon.

"you came here right on...." paul, the announcer checked his time and nodded at lorena. "if you had come a minute late then your name would have been ruled out," he told her and lorena smiled at him.

"I am glad that I came earlier," she said and turned to face me. I had thought that she was staring at me until I saw the direction of her eyes facing the tent where Alistair was. I frowned and clenched my fists under the table.

"just say the word and I shall kill Alistair right away," Draca promised but I pretended I didn't hear him. his ideas were nice but I didn't want to kill anyone just yet. "I am always available when you are ready to kill Alistair out of jealousy," he teased and started laughing.

"I am not jealous," I told him. "there is no way I would be jealous," I tried to defend myself and I didn't hear him say anything after then. he just kept mute as if he wasn't teasing me a few seconds ago.

"let's begin and see if you all have the qualities of a good noble consort in the kitchen" paul, the announcer cleared his throat and pointed to Hallie first.

"yes," he walked forward and beckoned to those behind her holding nine royal flasks. there were four people behind and each of them had one, two flaks or more in their hands. "my meal is an appetizer. it is a shrimp salad and this could be eaten on every occasion and a great meal for the royals. I hope the king and the rest of the royals would see that I put all of my time into making sure that I prepared the best meal for you all," she bowed and beckoned to the guards to set the food in front of us.

The aroma of the meal was appetizing indeed and when I tasted one of the shrimps, it felt succulent and easy to chew. it tastes so wonderful that I raised my mark book at her. I gave her sixty percent.

"It seems the king is the first to acknowledge concubine halie's great meal," paul announced and the rest of the girls clapped their hands. the rest of the lords raised their mark books and I heard Paul shout passed. "concubine Hallie passed this round." "thank you so much," she shouted and bowed her head. "I feel so honored," she walked backward and beckoned to the guards to pack the remnant of the meals.

"concubine Rebekah, please step forward and announced your meal to the royals."

Rebekah stepped forward shakily and almost fell but paul grabbed her before she could kiss the ground. "I apologize for your highness for touching one of your concubines," he said and lets go of Rebekah.

"your highness," Rebekah bowed and when she raised her head, she looked towards me and smiled at me. I started back at her wondering why she was smiling at me. I haven't had a proper interaction with her in months and I could vividly remember that I have only slept with her once so I wondered why she was smiling at me. "I prepared an appetizer too," she announced and beckoned to those behind her. just like Hallie, she had a girl and three guards behind her and they were all holding the royal flasks. "please let them see the crab that I have...." she cleared her throat and held her throat. "let them see the appetizer that I have made for them," she sounded unsure as if she had no idea of what she had cooked. I noticed the shakiness of her whole body and even realized that she was trying so hard to copy Hallie's method of speaking but she failed woefully and couldn't even imitate her.

when the meal got to my table, I almost threw up and covered my nostrils because the smell was overwhelming. it smelled so bad that I thought that I was in the garbage ground.

"Did you cook this on a dump site huh?" one of the lords shouted from their tent. "how could you cook this garbage for us to eat huh!" he yelled at her. "I give you a fail!" Rebekah fell to her knees and burst into tears. "I tried all of my possible best to make sure it tasted great but it didn't," she cried. "give me another chance please," she begged.

"Another chance to cook garbage for us huh?" the voice belonging to lord Jared sounded as he threw the plates with the crab away. " you failed and are not strong enough to enter the next competition," he told her.

"It seems that concubine Rebekah is about to be out of the contest. we only need the king's mark and it is all over for her," paul said and when he saw me raising a failed banner, he made the announcement. "concubine Rebekah failed this test and is thereby out of the contest."

"no!" Rebekah jumped to her feet and rushed towards me. "I should be among the winners because no one other than me can carry your children!" she cried. "Have mercy on me, your highness," she begged.

Romeo beckoned to two guards who grabbed her and dragged her away. "have mercy!" her voice sounded as she was dragged away by the guards. "have mercy," her voice trailed off.

"That was intense," paul cleared his throat as he continued speaking. "concubine Danielle," he called." I believe that it's your turn," he announced.

Danielle smiled brightly and walked elegantly carrying herself with such greatness that I stared in awe at her beauty. she had the physical traits of a noble consort but was only good for the bed as she was great at giving me the greatest pleasure.

"I miss her p***y," draca commented as Danielle walked forward.

"shut up!"

"I welcome you all to this great gathering," she announced and smiled at me. "your highness," she bowed. "I have prepared a side dish for you and the rest of the royals," she winked at me." I call it the sweetness but the real name for this meal is called the duchess potatoes," she announced and beckoned to those behind her to serve the meal. "this meal is better eaten with a happy smile on the face as it would take you all to another world," she chuckled and threw kisses at all the lords.

The lords made comments about her that made me frown wondering if she knew that she was selling her body to pass.

"The meal tastes amazing but the girl looks tastier!" it was lord han who made that nasty comment.

I clenched my grip on the fork and frowned as I took a bite but my face soon turned into a smile when I realized that Danielle was right when she said that the meal tasted heavenly.

"Amazing," Romeo spoke with food in his mouth.

I raised my passbook and Danielle jumped happily.

"Thank you so much, your highness," she squealed.

"This is amazing as Danielle got a hundred percent which means she had passed and she is topping the list at the moment," paul announced.

"I passed," Danielle clapped her hands and then flipped her hair. "I am so grateful to you all for giving, me a chance to prove that I am a great coke," she chuckled before walking away. "Now," paul cleared his throat. "we have two others left. the future luna queen and concubine Lorena who came late."

I looked towards Lorena and saw her fidgeting while noticing the rising and falling of her chest. I hoped that she could prove herself to everyone that she could be the noble consort.

"future luna queen Angelica," Paul called and Angelica walked forward. She lowered her head walking slowly as she headed towards me. I saw how Lorena clenched her fists and I wondered why.

Could it be because of the argument they had with one another? I thought as I stared at both of them. When Angelica turned back to face Lorena and waved at her and she didn't wave back, I knew something was wrong.

I just hoped that it was not something that would result in more damage.

"I prepared the main course meal for you your highness and the rest of the royals," she proudly said and beckoned to those assisting her to come forward. She took the flask from the girl who was about to serve me and served me instead. "Serving the king will be my duty from now on once I become queen," she chuckled and placed the plates on the table. "This is called slow-roasted lamb with minted jersey royals and mint sauce," she announced and beckoned to the girl behind her to pour me a glass of water. "Eat it slowly so that you enjoy every bit of it."

I stared at her and nodded in response. As I grabbed the fork and stab it into the lamb, I expected it to stab deeper since roasted lamb is always tender but it didn't, and instead, it was hard. "Why is this so hard?" I asked her.

"I...." She stuttered. "I cooked it perfectly and I made sure that it was soft so why is this happening?" She questioned me as if I knew anything about it.

"I am sure you followed a recipe so why is so rough and hard?" I asked her.

She cleared her throat and looked behind her as if she was staring at someone. When I followed her eyes, I realized that she was looking at Lorena who had a mischievous smile on her face. What the hell is going on?

"I am so sorry but this meal didn't pass," I raised my failed book. "The seasoning didn't match well with the lamb and it's too hard! I have tasted things much better than this!"
