~Nyla~

“Werewolf ceremonies are a beautiful thing, isn’t it? I get goosebumps all the time no matter how many I have attended already.” I heard a familiar voice and was delighted to see Olivia.

“Livi! I have missed you! Especially our conversations over coffee.” I didn’t even get a chance to say bye to her when moving to Luke’s floor.

“Oh, wow! You look stunning. But why in the world do you need sunglasses when it’s already dark out here?

“I have pink eye. Didn’t want to give it to you all.”

“Oh no! I hope you are keeping well. I miss you every day. With Sadie gone, I feel quite alone in the room. Is he treating you okay?”

My cheeks turned red as if I have been shacking up with Luke day and night. It was only then that I noticed the pool of moisture between my legs.

It definitely turned me on watching him and hearing him talk. No idea what he said as part of his swearing-in because my brain fogged up imagining things I wanted to do to him.

I was too embarrassed now, wondering how many of these werewolves have already smelled my arousal.

“Don’t worry. Almost every unmated she-wolf also must be feeling the way you are right now. We lost our mates and may not feel that way but you are with him now, so…”

Damn them all! He is mine and only mine.

Somebody save me!

Moon at its fullest is supposed to make my kind stronger than usual they say, but I guess that strength doesn’t extend to willpower and controlling my raging hormones.

If he k****s me now, I don’t think I can push him away as I typically do. What a superficial and shameless woman I am to get all excited for a murderer just because he looks extra sexy and radiating so much power.

“Thinking about me?”

I froze when I heard his voice from behind and looked at Olivia helplessly. With this mistress tag he gave me, he’s not even afraid of approaching me amidst such crowds.

“I’m thinking about this shrimp. There’s too much pepper in it.”

He changed from a traditional loose-fitting shirt with his pack symbol into a perfectly tailored white button-down shirt.

I focused on my plate of food and examined it with extra attention. Not sure why, but I was feeling like some sixteen-year-old who was meeting her boyfriend alone for the first time.

“Why do you need these? They are covering half your face.” He took the sunglasses off my face and asked Olivia to leave.

“I have conjunctivitis. Give them back and don’t look at me.” I turned my face away, only to look at him in the next second when he squeezed my jaw and pulled me closer.

His wolf was asking him to give me a good spanking for not wearing the dress he wanted me to. I tried to conceal my surprise at how both Luke and Rex were such rascals. Wyatt’s wolf would never suggest something like that.

“Whatever you used to make it pink probably didn’t work. Which eye was it supposed to be?” He burst out laughing while my heart rate spiked up.

“What?” My eye looks normal after all that pain with those grapes and stains?

“I’m glad you hid those glowing eyes but I know already.” He said in the lowest possible whisper while wrapping his arm around my waist and dragging me away from his folks.

“Y-you know? A- um, about my… my—“

Did Wyatt already tell him during their Alpha meeting? Although Luke swore in only today, he was already in charge of traveling to far off places and attending such meetings.

“Leah’s eyes also used to glow sometimes. Like the first time when she saw me. She had grey eyes, but I saw a subtle gold in them during the mating ceremony as well. They were not as bright gold like yours but only I could see them.”

“Oh…” Dude, you are wrong. Everyone can see them in my case. It’s not some special look I got only for you. Didn’t know I was staring at him until a sexy smirk formed on his face.

“So, you didn’t like the other dress?”

“Nope.” I looked at a distant vintage lamp hanging down from a tree.

“Well, this shade of red is my favorite on my women.” He played with the loose strands of my hair that came out of the bun.

“Your women?” I swatted him over his wrist and pushed his hand away.

“I thought you liked purple. But if you are so stubborn about not wearing something I buy, let me tell you, I bought this dress too.”

“No, you didn’t.”

“Yes, I did. From Hermès.” He leaned against the wall and all I could think about was to lean into him and wrap my arms around him.

“Er… how did you know purple is my favorite color?”

“You wear a lot of purple bras even when your closet has many other options.”

Okay, I was an idiot to ask him this question. I was already feeling out of control and he has to remind me about all those times he kissed my neck. The look on his face right now was enough to make me weak in my knees. I turned around to run from there, but he was obviously much faster than me.

Pulling me into him and leaning back against the wall, he claimed my lips with a hunger that sent chills of pleasure down my spine. It took all my willpower to turn my face away. He traced wet k****s on my cheek and down my neck.

“Nyla, I should at least get one k**s today. Don’t you think I need one really, really bad?” He continued planting little k****s while his growing e******n pressed into me.

“No, never. I have to go.” I tried to free myself from his arms.

“I’m dying to have you stand by my side and claim you in front of everyone. We both know how much you would hate that. Please, let me have at least one k**s.”

I just needed an excuse to k**s him back. It has been so difficult to not reciprocate or let him do as he pleased with me for so long. Giving in sounded awesome.

“No!”

“I can smell your arousal, Nyla.” His fingers dug into my skin while his wolf was fighting him to come out and mark me.

“I hate you, and I hate your wolf. Tell him I’ll never forgive you or him for what you did. Do you think you deserve a k**s from me? Can you give me something I ask you in return? Because it isn’t you I want to k**s or be touched by.”

He didn’t meet my eyes and let me go. I decided to run before changing my mind.

“You just need an excuse to fight with me and push me away.” He said as I turned around.

“I don’t need an excuse to kill you. I would have if I could by now.”

I walked back to where the food was and dumped a huge scoop of cheesecake onto my plate while ignoring my fluttering heart.

“Ooh! A chocolate oreo mudslide cheesecake! That’s my favorite too.” I heard a petite girl dressed in a cute pastel green gown smile at me warmly.

I looked at my plate to notice what I got. This is the worst kind of dessert I should be eating when I’m trying to not put on any more weight. It tasted too good to stop eating though. I rather eat this sinful, artery-clogging poison than let Luke come near me. Someone please give me a choice and let me pick this cheesecake over him.

“I’m Rachel.” I heard the girl say and realized she was still standing next to me.

“Er… Riley. Nice to meet you.”

“You are very beautiful, Riley. My brother seems to like you.”

“Ki… the Alpha? Alpha Luke is your brother?”

I expected her to look more or less like Adalyn; tall, arrogant, and athletic. She looked very young. With porcelain skin, copper hair, and hazel eyes, she had nothing in common with Luke. She looked so cute and mellow, to add more to the contrast.

“Yes. Would you like some pie too?” She scooped out a slice of key lime pie onto her plate. “It has toasted marshmallow meringue on it. I love it!” She licked the extra cream off her upper l*p and smiled.

“I wish I was skinny like you to eat so many desserts. How old are you?”

“Sixteen. And you?”

“I turned twenty-three some ten days back.”

“Really? How can he not know your birthday? He said he likes you.”

Are we still talking about Luke? Does he share this kind of stuff with his little sister?

“You are messing with me, aren’t you?”

She giggled and looked around to replace him. “I’ll ask him in front of you again.”

Oh hell no! My eyes followed Rachel’s, and they landed on some brunette’s big a*s and thin waist. She had her arms wrapped around Luke’s neck.

‘Your brother has a death wish, Rachel!’ I fumed inwardly.
