Alpha Queen -
Chapter 18
Liviana’s POV
I found myself in the forest again.
Then I saw Diana. Again.
But it wasn’t just us this time.
There stood beside her is Amaris.
I felt confused and betrayed.
“Liviana” Diana called me softly. I backed away.
“Am I right?” I asked trying to keep my voice from breaking.
Diana’s eyes looked at me in worry.
“Answer me! Am I…the princess?” I shouted.
A tear fell from her eye.
“Yes. You are the princess. My daughter and King Kale’s” she said and I fell to my knees.
Amaris immediately approached me whimpering lowly.
I lightly pushed her back.
“And you knew all along, didn’t you?” I said to Amaris. She looked at me guilty.
“Amaris couldn’t tell you, Liviana” Diana said. I chuckled.
“Of course” I said bitterly.
“Tell me. Tell me everything now” I said looking up to Diana. She nodded.
“I am Diana White, the princess of Halo territory, daughter of King Callisto White and Queen Selene White from Halo, and your mother” she started.
“Your real father is King Kale Alaric, the king of Lunar territory” she continued.
My heart squeezed.
“My father King Callisto, your grandfather, had set me up to marry a man that I didn’t know or love in hopes of having another heir for the throne” she said.
“I ran away” she stated with a gulp.
“I didn’t want to marry just anyone. I believed in the mate bond and hoped to replace my mate” she explained.
“I ended up in the Lunar territory. I was at the warriors mercy and soon delivered me to your father, the King of Lunar” she continued.
“As soon as I entered the castle, I sensed him. I sensed my mate and at that moment, we both knew” she said.
“No one else knew but us but that was enough. He hid me away to protect me as soon as he found out about my identity. Soon enough, I became pregnant…with you” she told me.
“We knew you’d be the one to be able to bring the territories together. You were the heir to both my side and your father’s” she said.
Me?
“As soon as we found out that I was pregnant, your father did everything he could to keep it all hidden for both of our safety” she continued..
“But a few months after I gave birth to you, the royal ministry found out about my presence in the Lunar territory and your father did everything to protect me. To protect us.” she told me.
“They knew about me but didn’t know about you. We fled but they caught up. The only person your father trusted that time was Dimitri, the man who raised you and the one you…considered your father” she explained.
My tears fell uncontrollably.
“He tried to save us both but I knew it wasn’t possible. They wanted me and we couldn’t survive if I had insisted on staying with you. So I had him take you and leave” she said as tears streamed down her own face.
“I thought that they would catch me and torture and kill me but the moon goddess is good. She didn’t give them the chance and she took me in with her and made me a guardian” she explained.
It was all so hard to take in.
“We had to wait until you’ve come of age to tell you all of this. We had to make sure you’d be able to care for yourself if worse comes to worst” she told me apologetically.
I looked up to her.
“My father—I mean D-dimitri. What happened to him?” I asked.
“The mission he was supposed to do was to bring back your real father, the King. He had found out that he was alive but they were ambushed and captured” she said. My eyes lit up hopeful.
“H-he’s alive?” I said. She nodded.
“And…the K-king?” I asked again.
“He’s alive with Dimitri” she stated. I sighed in relief.
The father I grew up with and my real father are alive.
“Where are they?” I asked determined. She shook her head at me.
“You can’t” she said. My brows furrowed confused.
“You can’t, Liviana. Not yet. Not now. Your life is more valuable than their freedom” she told me.
I burst into tears.
I felt so helpless.
“I’m sorry, sweetie. I can’t let you endanger your life anymore. Now that you know the truth, you must stay alive and live up to your fate” she told me while hugging me.
I looked up to her.
“My fate?” I asked confused. She nodded.
“To bring the two territories together” she said.
Bring the two territories together?
How am I supposed to do that?
“How?” I asked. She gave me a small smile.
“I believe you’ll come up with something” she said. I sighed then stared at her.
I started memorizing her facial features.
She did really look like me.
Except she had silver hair and golden eyes.
Ac
Mine were black with well, a few strands of silver after my 18th birthday and my eyes were blue.
Aside from that, we were almost identical.
“You’re my mom?” it was supposed to be a statement but it came out as a question. She nodded with a small smile.
“The only one” she said and a tear escaped her eye. I wiped it and gave her smile.
“I’ve always wondered what it feels like…to be in my mother’s arms” I said as a tear escaped my eye too.
More tears streamed down her face with an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry, sweetie. I should’ve been there for you all those years but all I could do was watch over you from afar” she apologized. I gave her an assuring smile.
“Atleast you’re here now” I said leaning my forehead into mine.
Then we talked about other things for quite a while.
Until I woke up.
I saw Luan at the side of my bed leaning his upper body while his head is on my hospital bed and one hand holding mine.
I carefully slipped away from him and left the hospital.
I dropped by the pack house quickly into my room’s balcony without getting noticed and changed clothes before going to my father’s room.
Or atleast the one I thought was my father.
I think I will think of him as my father despite all of this.
But I also still have to acknowledge my real father if I ever get to meet him.
I took out some clothes from his closet and went back to my room and out of the balcony before running to the river.
I need more time to think.
