Alpha Queen
Chapter 52

Liviana’s POV

*kriiing kriiing

I slowly opened up my eyes and pushed myself to sit up my bed.

I couldn’t even sleep properly.

I looked out of the balcony then sighed before getting off my bed.

Why am I even acting like a miserable teenager?

I took a shower then got dressed into my school clothes.

I went down and grabbed an apple before sitting down the kitchen stool.

“Good morning, Alpha” Theresa greeted me as she gave me a plate of food.

“Good morning” I said and started eating breakfast knowing that if I didn’t, Dante will pop out somewhere to make me eat.

I finished my food and was about to leave when Dante came in from the front door.

“Good morning, princess. Heading off to school?” he said with a smile as he planted a k**s on the top of my head.

“Yeah” I said.

“Do you want me to drop you off?” he asked. I shook my head.

“No, thank you. It’ll be easier for me to bring my motorbike later so I can get here faster” I said. Dante nodded.

“Be careful on your way home” he said and I nodded before getting out and going on my motorbike.

I drove to school in my motorbike.

I arrived there just in time for my first class and immediately saw the twins.

“What’s up, Livi?” Abe greeted me with a smile. I gave him a small smile as I passed by and went to my seat.

I saw him talk to the girls who sat behind me and then the girls giggled then left to go to the other side of the room.

Then the twins sat behind me.

“So, how are you?” Abe asked me.

“I’m doing just fine, Abe” I told him. I would’ve ignored him but since they’re Luan’s cousins after all, I felt tge need to atleast respond to them.

“Are you sure? Luan doesn’t seen like he’s fine though. We figured that you both got into an argument again” he said and I turned to look at him.

“What do you mean?” I asked him with my brows furrowed.

“Well, he seems like something has been troubling him when he went back. We thought he’d be okay when you finally woke up and returned but he seems like he still has a lot on his mind lately” he explained. I sighed and our professor came in and the class started.

Would today be the right day to talk to him?

If what Abe said was true, then the conversation I’m going to have with Luan will be even more difficult.

I’d be adding to the things that are bothering him already.

“Let’s not do it anymore, Liviana” Amaris spoke in my mind.

“No, Amaris. If we don’t do it today, we won’t be able to do it anytime soon. The sooner we talk to him, the better” I replied.

That’s right.

I’m right.

Right?

“But mate is already struggling, Liviana” Amaris whined.

“I know. I know but we’re bound to do this anyway so we should just do it now. It’s not like we’re leaving him” I explained.

“But, Liviana… I will miss mate” Amaris whimpered. I sighed.

“Please understand, Amaris. It’s not easy for me too. But we badly need this. It’s just for a little while” I told her. She whined and whimpered then our link was cut off and she completely shut me off.

I sighed again.

I’m sorry, Amaris. We really need to do this.

Lunch came and I met up with Katie. I also saw Blake with his teammates and our eyes met but he quickly looked away.

He didn’t bother come to us.

“What’s up with Blake? He clearly saw us so why isn’t he coming here?” Katie asked confused.

I didn’t answer for a moment.

“It’s probably because of me” I said almost in a whisper.

“What? Why? Did you guys fight?” Katie asked worried. I shook my head.

“It’s…it’s a long story” I said.

“Is it now?” she said and I nodded.

Katie stood up from her sit and grabbed me by the wrist then pulled me out of the cafeteria.

“Where are we going?” I asked confused.

“Out” she simply said.

“Why?” I asked again.

“So I can listen to your ‘long story'” she said and then we made our way to the football field and to the bleachers where we sat down.

“Okay, spill” Katie said as she stared at me waiting for me to talk.

I took a deep breath.

“Yesterday, you both came over, right?” I started and she nodded.

“Then in the afternoon after we played with Ellie, Blake and I went somewhere without you and El” I said and she nodded again.

“Yes, I know. You both disappeared without telling us” she said with a pout and I slightly chuckled.

“Well, we went to the old tree house that we all used to play in when we were kids” I told her.

“Ohhh” she responded.

Now, for the difficult part.

“Well, when we were there, Blake and I talked…” I said pausing. Katie raised a brow at me.

I took a deep breath.

“Blake confessed to me through a poem he wrote, Katie” I finally said. Katie just stared at me for a moment.

“He finally confessed to you huh” she suddenly said.

“You knew? Did he tell you?” I asked a little surprised. She nodded.

“He never told me, Livi. I figured it out myself. I know my brother like the back of my hand. Also, he was very obvious with his feelings for you. It’s amazing how you never noticed it” she said with a shrug. My mouth gaped open.

“What?” I asked baffled.

“Livi, it was so obvious that Blake likes you. Loves you even. I guess you were either just really preoccupied with your responsibilities or you’re just extremely densed. Either way, I don’t blame you because my brother is stupid for not telling you directly how he feels” she said. I just sat there in silence.

Was I that clueless?

“What else happened?” she asked. I bit my lower l*p and sighed.

“He asked me to give him a chance and made me pick between him and Luan” I said remembering that moment.

“What?!” Katie shouted and her brows furrowed.

“That i***t! How can he make you choose between something like that. Our parents clearly told us how important mates are to you guys. I know that he loves you but this is so pathetic of him” Katie huffed and massaged her temple in frustration.

“I understand how he feels about you and add up the fact that he’s felt it for a very long time considering that we spent our childhood together. But Blake was wrong for making you choose between him and your mate” she said as she calmed herself down.

“When we first found out about you being a werewolf, we immediately talked to our parents about it and asked more questions than I can remember about your kind” she told me.

“They told us everything they knew about the mate bond witg werewolves. Personally, I found it really wholesome. I mean you guys have that one person who is literally the other half of your soul. I thought it was already very clear to both of us how important a mate bond is to your kind. I guess Blake had his own opinion about the matter” Katie sighed.

“I’m so sorry, Livi. I’ll talk to Blake when I can. He shouldn’t have put you in such a position” Katie said pulling me in for a hug. I hugged her back as I seeked comfort and support from her.

I’m glad I was able to tell her about the situation and I’m even more thankful that she was very understanding about it considering that her brother was involved.

I felt extremely lucky to have her by my side.

We went back after talking for a bit more skipping lunch time.

Our afternoon classes started and I felt anxious as time passed by because I knew that I had to talk to Luan soon.

I wondered how he’d react.

I wondered what he’d feel.

But it needed to be done.

I needed it badly.

Finally, the class with Luan was finally here and I waited for him to come.

Then I saw him enter the classroom and as soon as his eyes met mine, he smiled and my heart skipped a beat.

Get it together, Liviana.

“Hi” he said with a smile as he made his way to the sit behind me.

“Hey. Can we talk later after class?” I asked him. He tilted his head to the side curiously but nodded.

“Okay” he said then our professor came and class started again.

Suddenly, I wanted time to slow down.

I didn’t want class to end.

But I knew that it will soon.

And for a moment, I felt scared. Terrified even.

I kept convincing myself that it’s what I needed to do and I stuck with that.

Class ended and everyone started to leave except Luan and I. We stayed in the room until everyone was gone.

“What’s up?” Luan asked softly as he sat down next to me qnd faced me.

“I…I need to ask something from you” I said as I gulped and hoped he didn’t notice.

“What is it?” he asked. I took a deep breath.

“Let’s not see each other for a while, Luan” I said and he froze and tensed up in his seat.

“I just…I need space. I need time to think about some things and I can’t do it when you’re around because I always feel distracted. It will only be for a while. I just really badly need it” I explained. He stared at me for a moment then sighed.

“Okay” he said and I was the one who froze in place. Then he stared straight into my eyes before holding one of my hands and then he used his other hand to put the lose strand of my hair behind my ear.

As soon as I felt his touch, I felt the tingles in my body again reminding me of the mate bond that we share.

“I’ll give you your space as long as you come back to me. I can wait. I will wait. If that’s what you need, I’ll give you just that. It will be hard for my wolf but I’ll deal with him. I just need you to come back. That’s all I ask” he said lovingly and I almost gave in right then and there.

Luan really has changed a lot.

In the past, I expected him to lash out on me and act like the obsessive male that he is.

But the way he handled this is very different from my expectations.

“Don’t worry about me. Just take your time with yourself” he said then cupped my face before kissing me on my forehead.

Then, he left.

And I stayed in my seat for a moment.

I wanted space and I got it.

But why do I feel like this isn’t what I want after all?
