Chapter 31

Catalina's

POV

I woke up pretty early, the sun was just coming up. I decided to get up and maybe go for a run. I dress in some work out clothes and head out my door. But I run into someone again. "Oh goddess I'm sorry. I really need to watch where I'm going." I say.

"Well well well red we have to stop meeting like this." Jet says with a laugh.

"I'm thinking you are doing this on purpose." I say. He smiles wide.

"We are feeling confident today are we?" He says laughingly.

"Where are you headed anyways?" He asks.

"Where are you headed?"

"I'm headed to training." He says.

"Can I come?" I ask without thinking.

"I'd have to get the Alphas permission." He walks over to the Alpha office and I just stand there waiting. He pops his head in then right back out.

"Come on let's not be late!" Wow, that was fast. Jet grabs my hand and leads me down the stairs. I'm excited to train again it's been so long. We make our way out of the pack house and towards the training facility. "So you any good? Have you trained before?" He asked.

"I trained at my last pack. They said I was pretty good." I say.

"Humble. Good. I'll start you off easy though. Don't be insulted. You have to earn your spot. No matter how beautiful you are."

He thinks I'm beautiful? I feel my face flush. He laughs.

"You're cute you know that." He says. Why is he so good at just saying things like that. We walk into the facility and over to a group of warriors.

"Everyone this is Catalina. She's joining us for training. This is her first day, just keep that in mind." He says. There are 4 guys and 2 girls in the group. They all smile at me and Jet leaves.

"Hey Catalina I'm Warren. This is Dan, Sarah, Josh, Ti, and Miles." The tallest guy in the group.

"Welcome to level one." Sara says.

"Level one?" I ask

"Yeah we're all new or young. Everyone starts at level one." Miles says.

"How many levels are there?" I ask

"8, then there's elite." Sarah says.

"What do the trainings consist of?" I ask.

"Pretty basic. We have some group work outs, group runs, sparing, and we do challenges if someone wants to move up." Warren says.

"We should stretch before we get started." Ti yells at us.

"She a bit bossy." Sarah says with a smile. We do some stretches and Sarah helps me with some basic moves they've already learned. Then we get started with the work out. Then we do the run. Now it's sparing time. Sarah asks to pair up and I agree. "Sarah do me a favor." I ask

"I'll take it easy on you." She says

"Actually, please don't. Don't hold back. Because I won't." She looks a bit surprised but smiles and nods at me. We take our positions and get started sparing. Sarah is fast but I'm much faster and I can see it in her eyes. I don't want to hurt her so I'll try to end this fast. I put her in a grab and flip her. I wrap my legs around her neck and pull her arm back. She taps out. When we stand up I help her.

"What are you doing in level one?" She asks.

"I'm new." I say.

"You will definitely need to challenge today." Sarah says. Before I could stop her she heads over to someone I don't know.

"You do need to challenge up. You won't get better until you are challenged. You will probably be challenged a few times today." Ti says to me.

"Challenge time!" Jet yells out over the groups.

"Let's see who wants to challenge today. Well looks like Red is challenging for level 5? That can't be right. Sarah?" Jet asks.

"That's correct. Honestly it could be higher but I wanted to see what she could do." Sarah says.

"Very well. Catalina step forward. And challenger will be Ace." I hear a lot of whispers. Sara walks over

"If a challenger loses they lose there spot and get pushed back. He will fight hard for his spot. But you got it. You're fast. Don't worry about hurting him. Everyone will respect you more if you hurt him." Sarah leads me to the mat and steps off to the side. A man with short black hair joins me on the mat.

"Challengers ready?" Jet says.

"Ready." We say in unison.

"Begin." Jet says and we start circling each other. He looks very capable of breaking me. I needed to be fast and keep my distance. He takes a step forward and changes directions. I moved fast and then slow. He swings high and I aim for his ribs. I connect and I remembered this feeling. I stepped back and he follows. He uses his foot but I block it. He was trying to close the distance between us. I swung my leg around to try and open him up. He took the bait and I punched his chest with my right. He staggered back. This time I'm closed the gap and aimed for his face. When he looked up he saw my fist. I connected and broke his nose. I guess I just break everyone's nose. He kicked me in the chest putting space between us. We started circling again. I felt the heat in my body rise. He came at me again but this time he was going to kick. He threw his leg up and I caught it. Then I rammed my elbow down on his leg breaking it. He screamed out in pain and tapped. I know it was brutal but I also knew he'd heal. I hear the crowd cheer. "Our winner!" Jet cheers. Everyone comes up to me and congratulates me. I look up and see Liam standing next to Jet and thank goddess he had a smile on his face. When the celebration dies down Liam is beside me.

"Are you mad?" I ask. He looks at me surprised.

"Why would I be mad? I would have liked to be informed, just so I could watch, but no I'm not mad.

"Oh did Jet not.?"

Liam laughs. That's Jet for ya. I told you you are welcomed to train. I am surprised to see how good you are." He says.

"I trained elite at my last pack." I say.

"That explains that." Jet says walking up to us. "Why didn't you tell me. I wouldn't have put you at level one." He says.

"I wasn't sure how you all trained. I did want to seem better than I was." I respond.

"Is Ace going to be alright?" I ask.

"He'll be fine. His ego is a bit bruised but he'll live." Jet says.

"Why don't you go and get changed. We have to go to town soon, remember?" Liam says to me.

"Oh right. Thanks Jet for taking me to training. Liam I should be ready in 45 mins." I run back to the pack house. I run up to the room and take a quick shower. I get dressed and made my way back downstairs. When I step outside I see Liam leaning up against a car. He sees me and smiles. "Ready to go beautiful?" He asks. I nod and he opens the car door for me. He goes around to the drivers seat and starts the car.

"No Carrie?" I ask.

"No I want you all to myself today." He says with a smile. I blush in response. We drive out to town and Liam parks the car. We walk into the studio where Sebastian meets us with smiles and hugs. He takes me to the back of the studio and I see he has all new supplies for me. I smiled big and thank him. Then Sebastian leaves me and Liam.

"Is it ok that I'm here?" Liam asks.

"Yes but don't watch me. It will make me nervous." I say with a smile. He walks over stopping in front me. I look up to meet his eyes. His fingers graze my cheek and my body warms to his touch.

"I wouldn't want to make you nervous Lina." He moves a strand of hair behind my ear. I knew he wanted to kiss me but I pulled back. He smiled.

"I'll do some work on my phone for a bit and then I'll go get us some lunch, how's that?" He asks. I knew my face was red so I just nodded and turned to the canvas. I pushed what just happened out of my mind. I don't even know what's going on with us. I don't need another Alpha to have me until things get hard, and then toss me aside. But he does seem different than Andrew, stronger. Maybe this is why I couldn't mate with Andrew, maybe Kayla or Kehlani knew I needed a stronger mate. Maybe the Moon Goddess didn't want to tell me because I wouldn't have believed her. I started to paint as I thought over what has happened the last few days. I still felt an ache in my heart but I have to be honest, nothing like the moment I got rejected. Honestly there were times when I felt nothing at all. I had heard stories of people being rejected. People have died from it, they live a life in pain, or suffer greatly. Maybe I didn't feel so much pain because I was meant to be with Liam all this time. After some time had past of me painting I hear Liam clear is throat, I almost forgot her was here. I look over and he's smiling.

"Looking good beautiful." He says

"Me or the painting?" I ask feeling flirty. He gets up and comes to stand in front of me.

"Always you." He says low and this time he kisses me, and I let him. I feel a connection when our lips touch. His kiss was sweet but with a purpose. When we pull away,

"I've been wanting to do that since the moment I saw you." He whispers. Our eyes meet and I feel the need to kiss him more but I hold back.

"How about I go get us lunch now?" I nod in agreement. And just like that he heads out. I'm still left wondering what will happen between us. Will he leave me like Andrew? I turn back to the painting. Trying to focus is hard. That kiss was good, and felt different. FOCUS LINA! The sky the sky, I'm painting the sky. After a few minutes of focus painting I hear the door open. Liam comes around the corner with our food. I put the brush down and get myself cleaned up. We sit on the floor and eat our lunch. We talked about going shopping after I was done and about me continuing my training. We did not talk about the kiss.

When I was done with the painting I took a step back and looked at the whole picture. I was really lovely.

"I love it." Liam says from behind me. I felt his body heat and knew he was close to me. Knowing he was there made me want to lean into him but I held back.

"Why are you holding back?" Kayla asks.

"Kayla? Because I just got rejected. I don't want to be hurt again." I say annoyed. She doesn't respond. I haven't heard from her much lately. That was weird. I now notice Liam is in front of me with a concerned look on his face.

"Are you ok? Do you not like it?" He asks.

"Oh no I love it too. It's just.." I trail off how do I explain this without saying everything.

"What Lina? You can tell me anything." He says.

"My wolf. I haven't heard from her in days and then she asked me a question out of nowhere."

"What did she ask?" He asks

"She asked me why I'm holding back with you." I say bluntly.

"You are holding back?" He looks surprised by my words.

"Well yeah. I just got rejected. And I don't want that to happen again. I don't want to be used again." I say wrapping my arms around myself. I feel too exposed. He looks sad. He pulls me to sit down on the couch with him. He takes my hands into his. He's quiet for a

moment.

"Lina I'm sorry you have felt used by other people. I'm sorry other people have hurt you. I'm sorry I wasn't your first mate. But I have a feeling you are my second chance, and I think I am yours. I know my words probably sound like ones you have heard before, but Lina I'm not going to use you. And I would never reject you. The moon Goddess gave us a rare gift and I'm never going to let it go. I understand you will need time to process everything. Just know I am here and always will be. We can take things as slow as you need to. Time will show my true intentions with you." He kisses the back of my hand. I honestly didn't know what to say. I need time and I need actions not just words. I know it's not fair to hold the actions of others against him, but I'm damaged, I'm broken. "I'm sorry." Is all I can come up with.

"What could you possibly have to be sorry for?" He asks.

"That I'm broken." I can't hold back my tears and they flow from my eyes. I burry my face in my hands. Liam pulls me into his lap and wraps his arms around me.

"Lina you aren't broken. You're hurting. Please don't cry." He whispers in my ear. His touch calms me and I take a few deep breaths trying to control myself. He pulls me into him tighter and rests his chin on my shoulder. I wipe the last tears from my eyes and look at him.

"Do you feel better?" He asks. I nod.

"Do you still want to go shopping?" He asks. I nod again.

"You ever going to talk again?" He was teasing me. I smile and nod. He tries to tickle me and I try pushing his hands away.

"I'll stop when you say something." He says laughing.

"Haha something." I say between laughs. He stops and stands up with me in his arms.

"Good now we can go shopping." He places me on the ground and kisses my forehead. He takes my hand and the next two hours we spend buying me new clothes. His phone dings and he smiles at it, "Your room is ready." He says.

"Do you want to go see it?" He asks me.

"Yes please." He takes my hand and we make our way back to the pack house. When we arrived to the pack house, an omega came and grabbed my bags. Then Liam takes my hand and leads me upstairs.

"I realized I never told you where my room was. It's right here if ever you need anything." He points to a door. Then he stops at the door right next to his.

"This is your room. Yes I made it next to mine on purpose. I'm sorry if that seems possessive. Carrie told me it might come off strong but I want my intentions for you to be clear." He squeezes my hand. He opened the door and we stepped inside. There was a large bed in the middle with wood posts and a canopy. There was a walk in closet and my own bathroom. There was a tree, yes tree, in the corner of the room with a comfy looking chair and a bookshelf. A large window behind the bed that looked out over the forest. The bathroom had a bathtub and a stand alone shower, a large sink and mirror. Everything was so nice.

"Do you like it?" He asks me.

"I love it." I say truthfully. He smiles and pulls me into a hug, I hug him back. I don't want to lean into him so easily, but it's hard when everything inside me just wants to.

"Then do it." Kayla say.

"Don't just come in when you want to. Talk to me or leave me alone Kayla." I hiss at her. I've always wanted my wolf back when she was lost from me for years, now she is like a stranger to me. I'm so confused about what's going on with her and I don't have anyone to talk about it with.

"I know you are upset with me Lina. Soon I will reveal it to you. I know that's not what you want to hear. I can tell you, you can lean into Liam. You can mark Liam." I jump back from Liam after hearing what Kayla just said. Liam looks confused.

"What do you mean? Why is Liam different then Andrew? Is he really my second chance mate?" I asked.

"He is different. Your connection with him is different. Im not saying do it right now. In time." Kayla says.

WHY CANT ANYTHING BE SIMPLE?

"What's going on in your head beautiful?" Liam asks.

"My wolf again." Is all I can say. Im not going to tell him I can mark him. I don't know if I even want to.

"Is she warning you against me or something?" He asked.

"No the opposite actually." He looks surprised.

"Well I won't pry. Im glad your wolf likes me. And I'm glad you like the room. I have a few things to take care of, but I'll check on you before I go to bed, ok?" He says

"Of course. I have a lot to unpack." I look at my bags of clothes. He smiles and kisses my forehead again. He left and I get to unpacking. Once I was done I changed into some night clothes and crawled into my new bed. I turned the tv on and just relaxed. I must have fallen asleep because the next thing I know I feel a hand on my face. The hand cups my cheek then lets go. I open my eyes and I reach my hand out to grab Liam's hand. Liam turns to me. Without even thinking I pull him in bed next to me. He lays down and I curl in next to him savoring his warmth. I fall back asleep in his arms.
