Chapter 35

Catalina's POV

I wake up early, I see the sun peaking above the Horizon. Carrie and Sarah are still asleep. I guess that's all the sleep I'm going to get. I decide to get up and take a nice bath to keep me relaxed. I go to the bathroom and draw a hot bath. I stepped in and slipped into "Kayla I know you said not to reach out. I just couldn't help it." I say.

the warm water. I lay back and close my eyes.

"I know you miss Rachel. I didn't stop you." She didn't. I like talking with my wolf.

"Now that Liam is gone can we shift?" I ask her.

"Yes" she says.

"Can the girls come too?" I want to be sure.

"Yes."

"Good I can't wait to see their faces when they see you." I say with a chuckle.

"I could really use stretching my paws." I see her smile.

"I'll ask the girls if we can go for a run when they wake up."

I stayed in the bath until my hands got pruny. I got out of the bath and wrapped a towel around myself. I walked out into the bedroom and Sarah and Carrie are waking up.

"Good morning." I say, a bit louder than Carrie would have liked based on her reaction.

"Do you guys want to go for a run today? My wolf could really use it." I ask them.

"I'm always down for a run. Carrie?" Sarah replied.

"Fine, but only if I get another 45 mins of sleep first." She stuffs her head under her pillow. Sarah and I laugh. Sarah gets up.

"When do you want to do it?" I ask.

"Why not after breakfast. My only plans today are to protect you." Sarah says.

"I'm going to head to my room and get changed." She heads out the door. I grab some clothes and go back to the bathroom. I get changed and dry my hair. When I come out Carrie is on her phone.

"You know eventually you'll have to get out of bed." I say climbing back into bed.

"Eventually is not now." She replies. I flip on the tv and I hear a sigh from her.

"Fine I'm getting up." She gets out of bed and stands up.

"I'll go get ready." She sounds so defeated. I decide to head down to breakfast and get myself some food. The cafeteria is pretty empty when I get there. I take a seat and a plate of food is put in front of me. I take a few bites before I see Sarah walk in and take the seat across from me.

"I can't wait until I can mind link you. I went to your room and no one was there." She said as a plate of food was put in front of her.

"I'm sorry I should have asked Carrie to tell you. When Liam comes back we'll fix that." I say. Sarah digs into her food and Carrie slips into the seat next to her.

"I'm looking forward to the run. I need to do them more often." Sarah says. Carrie doesn't say anything. She just sips her coffee. She normally a lot more of a morning person, I wonder what's going on with her.

"I'm excited too." I say. We finish our meals and head towards the front door. I tell the guards we are planning to go for a run, and they shoot off to patrol the area we are going to be. We walk over to the tree line. "Can I shift first?" I ask them excitedly.

"Sure! You can change behind that tree." Sarah points and I walk over to it. I get undressed and shift into Kayla. When I come out from behind the tree I see Carrie's face light up and Sarah's jaw just drops. "Holy horse Kayla, you are huge." Sarah says as I circle her.

"Yeah girl you are huge." Carrie says laughingly. I nudge them to go change. They both go to the tree line. Sarah is the first to come out. Her wolf is light brown and a decent size, I'm definitely still bigger. We circle each other. Carrie comes out next, her wolf is grey and black. When we are all together we start sniffing and playing around. Then I jump on Sarah and jump off. I take off running. I hear them behind me, I look back and Sarah is close. I push myself faster.

"We can't go too fast." Kayla says. I understand why. Sarah jumps and lands on me. She jumps off and darts in the opposite direction. Carrie jumps on her and takes off. We do this for awhile. We end up at the lake. We lay down next to it panting and catching our breath. After a while Sarah and Carrie get up, guess we're headed back. We head back to the pack house and run into the three patrol guards. Even in their wolf forms I could tell they were surprised by my size and I giggle to myself. I go behind the tree that has my clothes and change back. I get dress and come out to replace everyone else has changed too.

"Luna you are huge. I've never seen a wolf with purple eyes." Mateo says sounding impressed.

"Yeah, you're definitely bigger than Alpha Liam is." Kinsey says.

Guys are so easy to impress. All you have to do is be big, eat something big, or fight something big. Girls are not so impressed. I look over at Carrie. She has another weird look on her face. When she sees me it quickly softens. What is going on with her? "Thanks guys. Let's go get some food." I say. We head back inside to the cafeteria. There are a few more people here now. We all sit at a table and an omega brings us food. We eat and everyone is chatting. The guys seem more relaxed now. Maybe because they see how big I am and I can take care of myself, or at least scare someone off.

"Is training going to continue with Jet gone?" I ask

"Yeah Gamma David is running training until they return." Jim says.

"It won't be as long and hard but it will still be good." Sarah says.

"Luna can I ask a question?" Mateo asks.

"Sure why not."

"Can we have a bonfire? We haven't had one in so long, and I know it will help to build some morale since a lot of warriors and mates are gone." He asks.

"I don't see why not." I say and I hear cheers.

"Thanks Luna." Mateo says

"Just make sure to patrol and get someone else to set it up. I'm going to go take a nap beforehand. I would like one of you outside my door." I say.

"I will be right outside Luna." Jim says standing. I stand to and go upstairs. When I get to my room I turn to Jim,

"Wake me up for dinner if I'm not already." I say.

"Yes Luna." Jim says. I get into my room and crawl into bed. I guess not sleeping last night caught up to me, because I fell right to sleep.

When I woke up, the sun was just starting to set. I stretch and roll out of bed. I go to the bathroom and wash my face and brush my teeth. When I head out of my room, I see Jim.

"Good nap Luna?" He asks. I forgot he was there.

"Yes thank you. Where is everyone?" I asked.

"Mateo is out back helping set up the bonfire with a few other people, he has been patrolling for a few hours. Sarah is on her way here, I just told her you were awake, I think she wants dinner. And I think Carrie is at her home. Kinsey is patrolling." Jim says. Wow he's pretty well informed.

"Lina! Thank goodness I'm starving!" Sarah yells from down the hall.

"You could have eaten without me." I say back.

"Not without my Luna." She teases.

"Thank you Jim. You can go help Mateo out with the bonfire if you want." I tell him as Sarah drags me away down the hall.

"Thank you Luna." Jim says. Sarah drags me into the cafeteria and we take a seat. I'm actually not hungry but I eat a little.

"Everyone is looking forward to the bonfire. Mateo has some how told the whole pack, well the whole pack that's still here." Sarah tells me.

"That's nice. I'm excited to see everyone." Which isn't a lie. I just don't know how to introduce myself.

"Should I introduce myself as Liam's mate? Or just as Lina? I'm not sure what to call myself."

"I think enough people know you are Alpha Liam's mate by now. I don't see any harm in it." Sarah says. Maybe she's right. When Sarah was done eating we went out back to help set up. We set up chairs and tables. We brought out food and drinks. People started arriving and I didn't have to introduce myself, they all seemed to know me and everyone called me Luna. It felt odd not knowing their names, but I didn't want to seem rude. "Thank you Luna for having this bonfire. It's nice to get together." One woman said to me before she bowed and headed for the drink table.

"How does everyone know me?" I lean over to ask Sarah.

"Maybe Mateo told them." She shrugs. Maybe.

"LUNA!" Mateo waves me over to a seat. It probably was him that told everyone. I walk over to him.

"What's up Mateo?"

"Here have a seat. Best seat in the house." He says. I look around and it kind of was. I was close to the fire, but not too close to be covered in smoke. I could see everyone coming and going. I had a view of the dance area too. I smile at him. "Thanks Mateo."

"Anything for my Luna." He does a dramatic bow and I giggle. I sit down and just watch the pack for awhile. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. I'm glad we did this. After a few hours of hanging out and chatting, people started heading back inside. "I think we should start cleaning up." I say to Mateo.

"Oh Luna enjoy the last bit of the fire. Some omegas and I will clean up. Don't worry." He was laying it on thick for me letting him have this get together, but I don't mind. I sit back and watch the stars for a bit. The moon was half full but still bright. I was starting to get tired so I made my way back to the pack house, not before saying good night to everyone. I made my way to my room and I noticed something on my bed. I walked over and there was a box with a note. I looked around my room for a moment before reading the

note.

Lina,

I know we can't mind link, so I got you something that might help. I miss you every day I am away from you.

Yours forever Liam

I opened the box and there's a phone inside. I lost my phone in the crash, but I haven't really needed one really. There was a message on the phone already.

"I hope you like the phone" Is all it said. It was from Liam. "I love it." I reply.

He typed back right away. "I love you." I'm happy to hear from him, even through text.

"I love you too." And I mean it. I change into one of Liam's shirts and get into bed. Liam and I text for a bit before he has to go to sleep. They attack tomorrow evening so he needs his sleep. I want him to be ok.

Dream

I'm standing in the middle of a field, then suddenly I am surrounded by fire. In the flames I see Andrew.

"I was right to reject you. Look what you've done." He shouts.

"No I didn't do this." I yell. I run towards him. "Andrew!" I yell. He turns and walks deeper into the flames.

"Lina. It's ok I'm here." I hear behind me and turn around. It's Liam, but he's covered in flames too. The heat from the flames is making it hard to breathe. I look around the circle and see 12 figures in the flames.
