Chapter 52

Catalina's POV

When I woke up I was in Andrew's arms and I snuggled into him. I heard him groan and squeeze me tighter.

"Morning love." His sexy raspy sleep voice is my favorite. I kiss his jaw.

"Morning." I say. I was nervous for today and I felt a rush of energy. I jump out of bed and head out to the kitchen. "Where are you going? He shouts from the bed.

"Coffee" I shout back. I hear him groan again as I start the coffee pot. I walk out to the balcony and I feel the cold air. It feels good against my warm skin. I feel arms around my waist and I lean into Andrew's body. "It's getting colder out." He whispers behind me.

"Are you nervous about today?" He asks. I turn and face him. I wrap my arms around his neck.

"I am. I'm not sure what they will say. And of course having to see Jackson." I trail off.

"I will be next to you the whole time." He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear and lifts my face to meet my eyes. He kisses me soft and gentle. I love how his lips feel on mine. Like our mouths were made for each other's. I walk inside and pour us some coffee and we sit outside on the couch for a bit, cuddled up and watching the sun rise. We decided not to train today, we have a feeling some of the Alphas might challenge me for my position and I would need to be able to put on a show. Soon we needed to start getting ready for the meeting. I got up and took a shower. I finished and put on some ripped skinny jeans, a black shirt, and a leather jacket. I wanted to look like a bad a*s even if I felt nervous. Andrew wore black jeans, a white shirt and a black jacket. We looked hot, or at least he did. We got in the elevator and made our way down. Because of the size of the group we were meeting in another hall. There wasn't a conference room big enough for 12 Alphas, 5 councilmen, and us. We walk over to the hall and before we opened the door I took a deep breath.

"You'll be alright. Just be the High Alpha I know you can be." Andrew says. I smile at him, I love how he believes in me. We open the door and everyone in the room turns to us. It was quiet as we walked in. Andrew nods at a few of them, and I smile. Andrew walks us around the room, avoiding Jackson, but I see his eyes glued to me with a smirk on his face. We walk up to the councilman's table and he introduces me to the other two members. Councilmen Ryan and Councilmen Jason. Both older men but still handsome. We take a seat to the side where Raymond is sitting. Everyone else takes a seat. I guess we're going to begin. Eric stands and addresses the group.

"Alphas thank you for coming on such short notice. Most of You know why we are here. We have a claim of the White Wolf." I hear some whispering.

"If we deem this true, she will take the place as High Alpha. She will be above all and final rulings." He says.

"Catalina Black, please step forward." He says. I look at Andrew and he nods. I stand up and walk to where Eric is standing.

"Catalina we need you to show us." He says. He leans in.

"Step behind the curtain dear and shift. They need to see you." He points to the side, they had set up and area for me. It's kinda sweet. I walk over and get undressed quickly and shift. Kayla was happy to get out. When I walk around the corner, I could tell I was leaving an impression on them. They whispered to each other and looked around the room. The only still person was Jackson. He just stares at me. I walk around the Alphas and I see David, my brother. I was surprised to see him, but then I remembered Liam saying my brother took over being Alpha after my pack was attacked. I just assumed it was Shawn that would take over. I kept walking not knowing how David feels towards me. After I fully circled them I looked up at Eric and nodded for me to shift back. I went back and got dressed. I came back out and went back next to Eric.

"Now Alphas, you have seen the White Wolf. We know what it means. Who among you accepts her position as High Alpha?" Alphas we're rising from their seats and I started to smile, this could work.

"Not so fast Councilmen." A voice I know all too well.

Jackson.

"Alpha Jackson." Eric hisses.

"Councilmen, Alphas. Are we really going to bow to this girl because of an old story we have even stopped telling? Who is she other then a murderous w***e?" A few Alphas stand at his words to show he's out of line and I hear Andrew growl.

"All I'm saying is what has she done to earn this right? How do we know she will do what's best for our pack and not just for her own?"

"Challenge me!" I say drawing everyone attention.

"Lina" I hear Andrew whisper yell my name. Jackson faces me and narrows his eyes. He smirks.

"Challenge you? I don't know if it will be a fair fight." He laughs. No one laughs with him. I jump down from the platform and walk over to Jackson.

"It won't be a fair fight because you will have to do it in broad daylight? It won't be a fair fight because I'm not a wolf-less girl anymore? Challenge me or accept me as High Alpha." I say firmly. He looks around at everyone. A creepy smile grows across his face. "I challenge you to the death." Gasps spread across the room. Before Andrew has time to say anything.

"I accept."

"As the challenged name your time and place." Eric says to me.

"Tomorrow 5pm, training field." I say getting in Jackson's face.

"You are going to regret this mouse." He says.

"I'm not a mouse anymore." I say. I feel Andrew pull me back.

"The voting will be postponed until after the challenge." Eric says to everyone.

"What are you thinking?" Andrew pulls me back over to his father.

"Andrew I can't hide and be scared of him if I become High Alpha. I need to fight him. I deserve this. I feel like this is what I've been working for. Im not afraid of him. He underestimates me at every turn. He knows he can't win." I say. "She's right son. She needs to face him." Raymond says. Andrew sighs and pulls me into him and hugs me. I see some of the councilmen approach us.

"Catalina, a word?" Eric and George gesture. I walk over to the council.

"Catalina, tomorrow will be an interesting day for sure. If you are victorious we will carry out the vote. Whatever the Alphas decide will be upheld by us. If you become High Alpha you will undergo council training which takes months. If you are victorious tomorrow you will also become the Alpha of Red Stone pack. We fear you will hold too much power for one person. As you are the future Luna of Mountain Stone pack." Eric says.

"We think it best if you are victorious tomorrow, you appoint someone else the Alpha of Red Stone pack." He says.

"But I can stay the Luna of Mountain Stone pack?" I ask.

"Yes, it is your pack and your mate." George says.

"Would you deny me if I didn't appoint someone as Alpha?" I asked. They look at each other.

"No, but we fear it will be hard for you to do it all." George says.

"And if I lose tomorrow?" I ask

"Then nothing will change. Jackson has no claim as High Alpha because it is not a title you have." Koa says. I nod in understanding.

"Thank you. I will think about all you have said." I say and bow.

"Catalina. Good luck tomorrow. For what it's worth. We are all rooting for you." George says taking my hand in his. I smile. I walk back over to Andrew and he's talking to some one. As I get closer I see it David and Andrew doesn't look happy. Andrew sees me and David turns to me.

"Cat."

"It's Catalina to you." I say. He stiffens.

"Catalina can we talk for a moment." He says. I know Andrew doesn't want me to. He doesn't trust my family. I take two steps away and stop.

"Here is far enough." I say. I'm preparing myself for whatever he has to say.

"Catalina I'm sorry I was a shitty brother to you." He says. I'm surprised.

"I tried to be there for you, but whenever I got in Yuri's way, he would beat me. And after Lucas left I didn't have anyone else on my side. I tried to just stay neutral, but I was a coward. I don't expect you to believe me or even forgive me. I just wanted you to know. Now that everyone is dead you are all I have left." His eyes barely looked into mine. I know he was ashamed. I could feel it. He grabs my arm and looks straight into my eyes.

"Be careful with Jackson. He's dirty and he will come with tricks. Watch what you eat and drink until the fight. Watch the people around you. Don't underestimate him like he does you." David says in a hush tone. I feel Andrew behind me.

"You ok Lina?" He asks. I nod.

"Lina? Don't want anything to remind you of home. I get it. I'll leave you. I have said what I wanted to say. Be careful Catalina." He bows and leaves.

"What do you think?" Andrew asks me.

"I don't know. I want to talk to Gamma Lucas." I say and look up at him. He looks concerned but nods. We make our way out of the hall.

"I think we should meet in our apartment and stay there until the fight. What David said is getting to me." Andrew said. And I didn't disagree with him. We left for the elevator and went up.

"Maybe we shouldn't of taken the elevator." I say as it is too late to turn back now. Andrew gives a weak smile. We reached the top with no problem and head into the apartment.

"Gamma Lucas, can you meet us in our apartment?" I mind link him.

"Yes Luna." He says. He's always so formal, which is why I'm formal with him. He deserves respect. After a few minutes Gamma Lucas walks through the door.

"Luna how can I help?" He asks giving me a nod.

"Gamma Lucas I need to ask you some things about my brother David." I say and his eyebrows raise.

"When you were still with my family. What was my brother like? I remember him walking in on Yuri one time, but you stopped it. I actually don't remember much of my childhood, I don't know if it's a bad memory thing or a self preservation thing." I say to him. He looks at me with kind eyes.

"Luna, David was the one that stopped Yuri that night. I arrived as David was throwing him back. I picked you up and took you out. I think he felt comfortable acting when I was near because he felt he had back up. I remember after that time he stopped Yuri, Yuri beat him during training. Yuri said it was for practice, but it was to prove a point. I don't think you were the only one abused in that home. I have no doubt that once I left he felt helpless." Gamma Lucas said. I guess I never thought about it. If David stood up for me, he would have to fight Yuri, my father, and Shawn.

"What ever happened to Yuri?" I asked.

"He's still in the cells. We didn't want to make the decision without you." Gamma Lucas says. Wow he's been down there for awhile. I need to do something about that too.

"Lucas, Lina is fighting Jackson tomorrow to the death for High Alpha. We think he might try something. Increase security. We will be staying here until the fight at 5 tomorrow. In the training grounds." Andrew says. Gamma Lucas nods and then looks back at me. "You are ready Luna. You are a great warrior, you are a strong fighter, and you are a better Alpha than him. Get your revenge." He places a hand on my shoulder and gives it a squeeze. I smile at him.
