Chapter 57

Catalina's POV

Over the next few days we planned and trained. Today I needed to go to Red Stone Pack and gather their army. I don't think they will be happy to see me there.

"Good morning High Alpha. Are you ready for your trip today?" Raymond asks as he greets me in my office. Yes my office. I needed one because of all the meetings and planning. "Ready or not." I smile and take a sip of coffee. Raymond has a seat in front of my desk.

"When do you guys leave?" He asks.

"In about 30 minutes. I just needed to make some calls, which I've done. I just wish I could have heard from Lilith." I say. I have no news from the witches and Fae and I'm getting concerned. "I'm sure she will reach out soon. Does the pack know you are coming?" He asks.

"Yes, I've spoken to Francis." I say. Since Jackson's death I took over as Alpha, the councilmen informed the pack of the change in Alpha. Jackson's father left the pack and Francis, the former Alpha of Red River pack, has taken in some duties until I appoint a new Alpha and beta.

"You have your work cut out for you at that pack. From what I hear, it's a bit of a mess." Raymond says.

"Great. That's why I'm bringing your son and Jet with me. They can help sort all this out." I say and stand.

"Thank you for being, well for being you. I've never really known what it was like to have a father growing up. But I'm glad to have someone like you now." I say as I step out behind my desk. Suddenly Raymond takes me into a hug. I hug him back. He reminds me so much of Andrew.

"I am so proud to have you as a daughter." He says as we're hugging. And I feel the tears behind my eyes by try and hold them off.

"Thank you Raymond. That means a lot to me." I say and we release the hug.

"Now, don't worry about anything here. Flora and I will keep the ship floating until you return." He says, I see his eyes are glassy. He walks to the door and leaves, just as Andrew is coming in. He looks back at his dad. "What happened? Is everything ok?" He asks

"Why wouldn't it be ok?" I asked

"My dad looked like he was going to cry." Andrew said.

"Oh we were just having a touching moment. It was sweet. I like that your parents like me." I say wrapping my arms around his neck.

"They love you baby. But not as much as I do." He picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist.

"You know, now that you have your own office we could spend some alone time in here." He gives me a grin and I giggle.

"Maybe, but not when we only have 10 minutes before we have to leave."

"I only need 5." He growls at me. I laugh and drop to the floor. Pushing him away he laughs.

"I'm joking love, I need way more than that to worship your body properly." I blush at his words.

"I brought our bags down and Jet is already waiting for us." Andrew says taking my hand. We head out to meet Jet at the car. We pile in and head out. It took a few hours before we pulled up to the pack lands.

"You ready for this Lina?" Andrew asks. I take a deep breath and nod. We drive up to the pack house and we get out. Francis meets us at the door.

"Alpha Catalina." He says.

"That's High Alpha." Jet corrects. Francis gives him a glance. I hold back my chuckle.

"Yes my apologies. High Alpha. Welcome back."

"Francis we are here only for a few days. We need to gather our warriors, clean up some of the mess around here, and hopefully appoint a new Alpha and Beta." I say. He bows and gestures for us to enter. As we walk in I hear a familiar voice like nails on a chalk board.

"Well well well. Look who decided to come back." Carrie says standing up from the couch. Ugh I had hoped she would have left the pack, just my luck.

"You will address her as High Alpha." Jet growled at her.

"And the traitor." She hisses.

"The only traitor here is you and your dead mate." He growls taking a step towards her. He was pissed. I could feel it.

"Why you.."

"ENOUGH" I command and they all bowed to me. WHAT WAS THAT?

"You just used Alpha command." I hear Andrew in my head. I look over at him and he has a big grin on his face.

"We'll talk about that later." I say to him in my mind.

"Carrie I won't say I'm happy to see you. I'm surprised you stayed. You will be arrested immediately for your contribution to kidnapping, torture, and wrongful imprisonment." I say as two warriors from the pack walk in. "Arrest her and put her in a cell." I command. They bow and do as I say.

"You can't arrest me! I was going to be the Luna! She's the one that killed Liam! Arrest her!" Carrie yelled as they hauled her away.

"Well that was unpleasant." I said looking at Jet and Andrew. Just then someone burst through the front door. She locks eyes with me. It's Sarah. And this one hurts. I thought she was my friend and we trained together. I liked her, I liked Carrie, but there was always something off about her. Suddenly to my surprise, Sarah hugs me. Why was she hugging me? She knew about the whole kidnapping thing, right?

"Kayla did she know?"

"I don't know."

"How did you know about Jet?" I asked

"I knew about him and Julie. And I felt his desire to be honest with you."

"Lina I'm so sorry for what happened." I pull out of the hug.

"What do you mean? You knew. Didn't you?" I look at Jet.

"She knew right?"

"I don't know, I mean I was the Beta and I only knew some of it." He said, he was right. Jet didn't know about the kidnapping and Raymond.

"Lina I didn't know. I swear to you." I don't know if I believe her, but I don't have any proof otherwise.

"Very well. I'm sorry Sarah, it is hard for me to trust anyone in this pack as you can understand. I have no proof one way or the other. I can see that only a few had knowledge of Liam's true intentions. And Francis I still need to question your involvement. Along with your son Brandon." Sarah takes a step back and nods.

"I understand. I hope to win back your trust, High Alpha." She smiles at my title, the smile is of excitement not mocking. Maybe she was my true friend. Time will tell.

"Sarah can we meet for a moment alone in my office." I wanted to claim the Alpha office, as it is mine to do so. She nodded and followed me, everyone else tried to follow and I put my hand up.

"Alone!" I said and everyone stepped back.

"Francis can you get Jet and my mate settled. We shouldn't be long." I say. He bows. Sarah and I make it to the Alpha office, it's a mess. I let out a low growl at the state of things.

"The whole pack is like this." She says behind me. I sigh and flop in the desk chair.

"You have your work cut out for you." She says sitting down.

"I can see that. Stupid Francis." I hiss

"He's been making everyone call him Alpha Francis again. He says his son is going to take over because you are too busy!" I growl at his assumptions.

"That won't be happening. This pack needs a good Alpha. A good leader. I just need to replace one." I say thinking.

"Lina.. I mean High Alpha, I am truly sorry. I swear I didn't know. All Liam ever told me was to keep an eye on you and to tell him if you ever wanted to leave the pack lands. That's it." She was probably telling the truth the more I thought about it." "Tell me, have the warriors been keeping up the training?" I asked trying to change the subject.

"Not really. Since Jet left and then Jerry. No one is really here to run training." She says. I mind link Jet and Andrew to join us.

"I missed you Lina. After Liam died things took a dark turn under Jackson. Even though it wasn't for very long, it felt like a lifetime." She says looking down at her hands.

"I missed you too." I admit. The guys walked in after that.

"Ah just the two I wanted to see. Jet, it appears the warriors have not had training in some time. Can you rectify this please."

"With pleasure." Jet bows then leaves.

"Oof look at the state of this." Andrew says walking over to the messy desk.

"That is why you are here my love. Sarah this is my true mate Alpha Andrew." I say. She bows to him.

"I would like to go join the training." Sarah says.

"Of course. Thank you for letting me know everything that's been going on." I say.

"Of course High Alpha." She bows then leaves.

"Do you trust her?" Andrew asks.

"I want to. But I'm still not sure." I say with a sigh.

"This is going to take a lot of work." Andrew says looking over the paperwork. I mind link Francis to come. He has some explaining to do. I hear a knock at the door. "Come in." I say and Francis walks in.

"Francis please sit down." I say and he bows and sits.

"Francis please explain to me what is going on at this pack? Why does this office look like this? Why haven't to warriors been training? And why was Carrie just lounging around downstairs?" I'm pretty pissed. Andrew takes a step behind me and is silent. "High Alpha, I apologize for the state of the office. When Jackson took over as Alpha and merged all the packs, he did it hastily and not officially. And it was only for a short time before he left for the Alpha meeting. After he died and word came back Jerry fled. I was left with the mess he created and not much help." I took a few deep breaths. This pack has gone through 3 Alphas in just a few weeks. And I need to replace them a 4th.

"You are right Francis. I apologize for my anger. This isn't your mess to clean up. But tell me about Carrie." I say.

"Carrie told me she was your friend. My only interaction with her and you was that. I had no knowledge of her involvement." He says flatly.

"Francis how much did you know about what Liam did?" I ask him.

"Not much to be honest. I know he destroyed my army just so he could take over. I know he lied about Jackson. And I know he held you here under false pretenses. But outside of that, not much." He says. Do I believe him. I've never had to worry so much about trusting people before. I used to not trust anyone and was fine with that. Now I had to make judgement on people and it was a strange, yet powerful feeling. "Where is your son Francis? Why did he not help?" I asked.

"My son is here. But since losing his soon to be Alpha title, he has been sort of aimless." He admits.

"I wish to speak with him." I say. He nods.

"When he gets here I would like a moment alone with him if I may." I say to Francis and to Andrew. Andrew only nods. A knock at the door and Brandon steps in.

"High Alpha." He bows.

"Brandon please have a seat. I need to speak with you." His father and Andrew head for the door as Brandon takes a seat and gives me a smile, just like before, like he wants to eat me alive. Andrew notices and looks back at me before leaving the room. I know Andrew must feel weird about being here.

"Brandon, I have a few questions for you. Your answers will determine what I do with you." I say. He looks a bit shocked but regains his confident demeanor.

"Brandon since you aren't going to be Alpha, what do you plan to do in this pack?" I ask

"Honestly High Alpha. I don't know. I have been trained to be Alpha since I was a pup." He says losing a bit of his confidence.

"What about being a warrior?" I suggest.

"I could definitely be a warrior with my size and strength." He sounded hopeful.

"Brandon I want to put you as Gamma. For a trail time. I need to get this pack on the right track and I need help doing it. We need to get the warriors ready for war. I am placing Jet as Beta for the time being and he will need help. Can you do that?" I asked. The confidence in him was back and he seemed excited by my offer.

"Yes I can do that. Thank you High Alpha." He says. Again I am left not knowing if I can trust him, but I don't have much of a choice.

"Very well. Jet is out training the warriors. Go be useful. And don't make me regret this decision." I say. He stands and bows to me.

"You won't regret a single thing High Alpha." He leaves and Andrew walks back in.

"I don't know if I like that guy." He says walking to me.

"And why is that?" I asked standing.

"The way he looked at you. It's bad enough I fight Jet for your attention. Now him?" He says.

"You don't fight anyone for my attention." I say wrapping my arms around his neck.

"I know love. But you have to admit. He looked at you like a starving man looking at a sandwich." I laugh. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed.
