Chapter 66

Catalina's

POV

Andrew and I finish up some work in my office then head down for dinner. As usual the dinning hall is busy. We grab a table with Rachel and Murphy. It was nice to eat with just them, like old times before all this war talk. My mind drifts off to when we all stayed at the lake house, when I completely fell in love with Andrew, when I knew I could trust him with my heart and my body. I hope there will be a time when we can get back to that simplicity.

After dinner we all had to head to the meeting hall, we were having our final meeting with all the Alphas, witches, Faes, and councilmen. When we arrived we made our rounds of greetings and then we wait for everyone to arrive. The room was full and I could feel the energy. All the Alphas had their Betas with them. The councilmen, Alastair, Lilith, and myself all sat up on stage. Everyone made their way to a seat and of course Eric got the meeting started.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, thank you for coming. Tonight is our final meeting before the war comes. Thank you all for bringing your armies on such short notice. The council and I have done a lot of research into what is to come and we have discovered something that can help us win this fight." He walks over to a side table to something covered. He rips off the cover to reveal a sickle. I hear murmuring around the room.

"This is a sickle of adamantine. The only known thing to kill a God, created by the earth itself." More murmuring around the room.

"How can this sickle kill a God?" Alastair asks.

"This sickle is made from an unbreakable material. Gods are immortal, not indestructible. My suggestion is a gruesome one, but this tool can be used to remove the head of a God. We would still need to banish the body, but this will make it a lot easier." Eric explains.

"We believe this can be used to take down Pan and we can banish Zeus to Tartarus. Catalina and the Moon Goddess will take care of the Gods as everyone else will take care of the creatures summoned by the Gods." Eric explains. I still can't believe this is my life, me fighting against Gods. Who am I? What has my life come to? Then I feel a hand squeeze mine. I look up at Andrew as he looks down at me. For a moment I am lost in his gaze, I love this man for bringing me back. For the first time I am hopeful.

There were reports on the progression of the training and the skills of each pack. Men talked of their abilities and how each pack had its strengths. I zoned out a bit thinking of the war to come. Two days from now everything we are planning comes together. We are all fighting for our lives and the lives of our families.

"Lina?" Andrew's voice in my head brings me back to the meeting.

"You ok?" Andrew asks.

"Yeah, sorry my mind drifted." I say.

"Your mind has been doing that a lot lately." He says.

"I know. I'm just trying to process everything that's been going on these last few days. I'm fine, promise." I tell him and smile. The meeting carries on and soon it is over. We stand and people gather in different groups talk about one thing or another. I am standing next to Andrew as he's speaking with a few other Alphas. My eyes drift over the the sickle. I make my way over to the table to get a better view of it. The handle has intricate wooden carvings on it. "Beautiful craftsmanship." Eric says walking up beside me.

"I've never seen anything like it." I say bending over to inspect it more closely.

"They say this was crafted by the earth itself. Or the God of the earth." Eric says.

"What if it doesn't work?" I ask.

"Then we'll have two Gods to banish. It will be harder but not impossible." He says with such confidence. I turn and face him.

"Why do you have such faith in me?" I ask.

He places his hands on my shoulders.

"Because I have such faith in the Moon Goddess. You are our one hope Catalina. She sent you to us for this purpose. If not you, then who?" He replies.

"I just don't want to let anyone down." I say.

"Oh my dear. You fight with all your might. That is all we are asking of you." He says. I get the feeling this war, it will be the end of me. But it will be worth it if we win in the end. He smiles at me.

"We are all in your debt Catalina. We always will be." He smiles again before leaving me.

"Kayla." I say

"Yes Lina?"

"I'm worried." I tell her, and only her.

"I know. We will fight until the end." She says.

"And we'll take many with us." Helia chimes in.

She's always so fiery. Every part of me seems to be ready, except for my heart. My breath becomes heavy in my chest. I start taking shallow breaths.

"Lina you are okay. Just breathe." Kayla says.

"I don't feel ok."

"Let's go for a run, let's go outside." Kayla says trying to calm me down. I make my way for the door trying not to draw attention to myself. As soon as I'm outside I start to feel better. The wind in my hair and the space around me. I make my way to the back of the pack house to the woods.

I go behind a tree and shift. I run. I let the leaves crunch beneath my paws and the wind whip through my fur. I run for awhile. I stop when I reach an open field. I shift back into my human form and lay in the grass. The sun over head is warm and I enjoy this moment. I close my eyes and listen to the sounds of nature around me, the birds and the wind. Then I hear a whisper. My eyes shoot open and I look around, sniffing the air.

Nothing.

I don't see or smell anyone. I shift back into my wolf just to be sure. I run back to my clothes. Once I reach them I shift and get dressed. As soon as I'm all dressed I hear someone approaching, twigs snapping and I turned around to see Jet. I sigh in relief. "Sorry, didn't mean to scare you." He says as he gets closer to me.

"No it's ok. Im just feeling a bit jumpy today. I thought going for a run might help, but I guess not." I say

"I'm sorry to hear that. There are other things you can try."

"Like what?"

"Training could help." He steps closer to me.

"A warm bath." Another step closer.

"Or something more intimate." He is standing inches from me. His eyes peering into me. What is going on with him. I take a step back and awkwardly laugh. "Haha very funny. Although the warm bath does sound nice." I say trying to derail this conversation. He steps towards me and places a hand on my hip.

"Some company would help you more." He says and I push him back on his chest but he barely moves. What has gotten into him.

"I don't know what is going on but you need to stop." I say.

"Oh come one High Alpha. I know you like this. Don't fight it. Why don't you try what your mind has wondered since the moment you saw him. Find out what you've been missing. Just this once. No one will have to know. I can keep your secret. Just one little taste." He whispers in my ear. The wind has picked up and his hand snakes around my waist pulling me in to him. He brings his face to mine and his lips graze mine. He closes his eyes as he's about to kiss me.

"NO!" A growl comes deep within me. His eyes pop open and he laughs.

"Well well well. Looks like the High Alpha is strong but no fun. I wanted to do this the easy way, but looks like it will have to be the hard way." Before I knew it, Jet pinned me up against a tree and his hand wrapped around my neck. What is going on? I'm gasping for breath. Then I hear someone coming from out of the woods, it's Julie. How is she here? She has a wicked smile on her face as she comes next to Jet. There are two more people coming out of the woods, Yuri and Sienna. Panic sets in as they come closer. I try and free myself, but Jet grips tighter. I'm about to call on Helia when someone else comes out from the trees, Andrew. He walks next to Sienna. Shock takes over. WHAT IS GOING ON?

"You see, this could have been pleasurable, but you wanted the hard way. Look what you've made me do." Jet says. I look at him confused. I look back at Andrew and plead to him with my eyes but he looks empty. He wraps his arm around Sienna. I feel the heat pour off me.

"You think you could kill him? Your mate?" Jet asked.

"I'm going to kill you." I say. He laughs.

"Oh little one. Nothing can kill me." He hisses.

"You will need a lot more than fire and attitude to kill me." He adds. Just then I realize something. I'm not talking to Jet. I'm talking to Pan.
