Autumn

"Gem, how could you not have told me that it is kinda important information."

"I know I'm sorry, I planned to tell you when this was all done but I knew if I told you now it would have been too much."

I did understand in some way everything that has happened since we found each other. I mean I was kidnapped when we discovered one another. Then, while looking for me, Zach found his mate, and Oscar found his while looking for Rachel. Rachel faked her own death, and then she put a spell on Nick. Then the council shows up and all hell breaks out again. Rachel is on the run with a member, then I kill Rachel.

"Do you see why I waited? Believe me, I wanted to tell you, but not this way."

"Well, this way is just as much as a shocker to me. I'm not sure how I would have handled it if you had told me differently, but Gem, I don't know if I can do this."

"Autumn we are chosen for each other just the way mates are. I am paired with you because you are a strong woman. Your destiny

was written long before you were born, you are made for this. We are made for this."

"Gem, I don't know what to do."

"Well, let's start by letting everyone up and then we can talk this out."

"What!" I quickly looked around and, sure enough, they were all kneeling, even my mate and I didn't want that.

'Get up everyone." I grabbed Rein's arm, pulling at him, "Please. Rein don't."

I could feel the tears building. I didn't want them to kneel to me and, most of all, I didn't want Reind to be kneeling. He is not to be his partner, my other half my equal,

"Gem help," I cried out to her,

"Everyone rises," Her voice rang out strong and commanding. Everyone stood up at her words. As soon as Reins was up and saw the look I held, he was in front of me in seconds cupping my face,

"Shh, It's okay," He cooed at me, but I couldn't hold it any longer and I broke down. He pulled me to him, burning my face on his chest. I fisted his shirt. I felt I needed to be grounded and if I didn't hang on I would disappear, "Here love, let's go sit down," He wrapped an arm around my back as he led me over to the sitting area,

Once, we were sitting. Oscar and the others stood behind me as the other council guy sat in the chair to the side and Zach sat on my other side,

"I see you four have naturally learned your jobs," I heard that Ryker guy say. I didn't look up, I kept my face hidden,

"We have always been this way. She is our friend and we take care of our own," It was Oscar who spoke.

"You must be the leader of the four. Correct?" He asked,

"Yes, you could say that," Oscar replied quickly. No hesitation.

"I figured, just by how you are holding yourself and you were the first to speak,"

I finally lifted my head from Rein's chest. Wiping my cheeks, Sniffing just a bit.

"My Queen, I didn't mean to upset you."

"Please, it's just Autumn, not my queen," I said to him.

"But," he began, then stopped shutting his eyes.

When he opened them they were crystal clear again, but then they slowly faded back to a brown color.

"Sorry Autumn, I won't address you as queen till you command me."

I just nodded my head, not sure how I was to answer him.

"OK, now can you explain what is going on? And why are you saying my sister is the Queen?"

Zach spoke up.

"I could try to answer your questions, but I think Queen Gemma would be better at that."

"Maybe both of you could fill in the blanks please." I looked at him while point ing a finger between the two of us,

"Sure I can do that," he smiled.

"OK, first how did you realize Gem was the Queen?" I asked him. I wasn't hoping he was wrong as Gem had said it was true.

"Ah well, when we shook hands the energy that came from you was high much higher than my own, and, seeing as I'm a couple of years older, mine is more mature. Then when you said you had four protectors it dawned on me why," "And others don't have four?" He shook his head. "No, we have one and it's usually our closest friend or even a brother."

He said as he pointed to Zach,

"That's why I thought it was you at first. I can clearly see how protective you are of her, so naturally I thought you held the spot,"

"She is my sister. Of course, I'm going to be looking out for her." Zach says with some sarcasm in his voice. I smacked his arm, giving him a pointed look. He just shrugged it off.

"What does this mean for Autumn now?" Reins asked.

"Well, I'm not sure that is something Queen Gemma will have to guide you guys through. I mean there are others out there and when they learn of our Queen being reborn they will come looking for her, not to harm her but to follow her." "I didn't think there were others?" I said as I slid to the edge of the couch. Reins wrapped his arms around me and pulled me back toward him.

"Reins stop it. I'm trying to listen," Leaning closer to my ear, whispering ever so softly, " You can listen from here,"

His hot breath on my neck gave me goosebumps.

Hearing a light laugh, I broke away, looking over at the one who laughed,

He held his hands up. "Sorry," Scrunching my forehead at him, "It is his wolf, being mated to us. Silver wolves have a habit of making our other half very territorial."

I just nodded my head as I laced my fingers with Reins, which seemed to settle him.

"Now for your answer. Yes, there are a few of us left. We have managed to stay under the radar, not letting others know what we are. not wanting to start a war or have people dying because of us,

"Yeah, but you are on the council, how did you keep it from others?"

"Well, that's where my protector comes in and one of my abilities is that I'm able to blend in."

I wasn't sure what he meant and before I could ask, he stood walking over to Nick. He reached out, touching his arm.

"With just one touch I can mimic your wolf hiding mine," he said, then took a few steps back, letting his wolf come forward. His eyes looked like Nick's and the fur that sprouted on his arm was the same color as Nick's Wolf, "Holy s**t!" Nick blurted out, I was memorizing, but. I had never seen anything like that before,

He walked back to sit down,

"You shook my hand earlier. Don't even think of using my wolf," Reins said. He sounded not happy with what he had just seen,

"Wouldn't think of it," he said as he sat back down.

"How do we replace out what Autumn is? I mean she has to have something." Kelly asked.

"I'm sure she has already found it. Having the Queen's blood running through her, she will probably have more than one,"

I looked at Reins and wanted to be sure if we should say anything we already knew about. Where I was able to tell if someone was lying and then the one where I heard the conversation from the council when I wasn't even there, "And by that look you have, I'm going to say you have."

Looking back at him, I squeezed Rein's hand a little," Yes, but I'm not sure I want to share that with everyone right now."

Waving his hand, "NO No it is fine you don't have to tell anyone,"

"Why is she mated to me? Shouldn't she be mated to another silver wolf or even the King of you guys?" Reins asked. I could hear the pain in his voice when he said those words,

"That I don't know. Maybe that is a question for Gem to answer."

Reins looked at me. "Gem," I called her. I felt her push forward, but it was different somehow."

"Because I was chosen for you as you are honest and loyal, you are a good Alpha to your pack and that alone is king qualities. If I were to be mated back to the king, our power together would be too much. We are not meant to lead together, we are meant to survive." I could feel how she felt towards Reins. I mean she is always trying to jump him, or doing like she did earlier. I mean, I'll admit it was fun, but that's not me.

He didn't say anything, he just stared at us,

"So you don't need to be with the actual king but with someone who has all the same qualities?" Oscar asked while looking at us. I think he was trying to break the silence,

"Yes, But don't you all know, once we mated, that made him King."
