Alpha's Human Luna
Chapter 6

I continue to toss the spaghetti into the pan without a second thought. Jessica and Alison are deafeningly quiet.

My stomach grumbles as I smell the aroma of cheese sizzling on the stove.

"Wash your hands, Susan."

It looks like the scent of cheesy deliciousness has made its way up the stairwell to the second floor. I began to perspire as I walked around the kitchen and near the hot stove.

As I got closer to the eating area, I can hear more conversation. When I go in the door, the conversation continues.

Nobody stares at me with the same intensity as they did last night. I go up to the same seat that I sat in before, a sheepish smile on my face. Hunter, Neme, and Jessica have already taken their places. "The support provided by Susan has been much appreciated."

I return the smile with trepidation. Neme flinches in astonishment as she realizes what has happened. I don't say anything since I'm upset with her. Hunter squints his eyes.

"I'm hoping she didn't poison the dinner," Hunter expresses concern to Neme.

Neme only cracks a smile. Allison walks into the dining room with a tray of steaming spaghetti in her hands.

I snap and leap to my feet, causing everyone seated at the enormous table to turn their heads to stare in my way.

"I heard training was fun." Jessica pauses before eating her food.

I keep eating without saying a word.

"It's fine, Mom."

Oh, jessica 's son David?

"Why did you stop, Susan?" Hunter smirks, raising an eyebrow.

I snarl at him, gazing aggressively. "I had an idea. Is it also forbidden?"

Neme ;blinks and shakes her head.

"Susan-"

I immediately rise up, causing everyone at the enormous table to glance at me.

"I'm not hungry right now, so I'll be up in my room."

To be honest, I'm starving, but I can't bear the thought of being around anybody. Although Jessica was aware of what her son had been up to, Hunter is an arrogant bastard who seems to have my sister wrapped around his arms, and I have been ordered to reside in a mansion and not go beyond the gates.

"David, please allow her to leave," Jessica says something, which I overhear.

After heading up the stairs and into my bedroom, I slam the door shut, a tinge of rage coursing through my veins.

As I make my way to the safe room, I push the dress shirts out of my way because I know precisely what I want there.

Even though I don't want to go without Neme, I'm hoping that I can escape out of here and replace someone who isn't a member here. Immediately after, I race to the room window, checking to see whether it is secured with a lock or not. I see that the window appears to be unlocked, so I proceed to attempt to slide it open. Though it is difficult to open, after a few attempts, it is totally open.

Winter air blasts against my cheeks and enters the room, causing it to become colder than it was before.

Someone starts banging on the door of my bedroom, which causes me to jump out of my skin.

"Susan! Don't even bother thinking about it!" David lets out a shout.

Despite my best efforts, he continues to hammer on the door, and I can hear pieces of the door starting to break.

"Shit!" When I hear the biggest crack, I let out a scream.

Then I dash up to the window and stick my head out to check how long the drop is from here. My blood rushes through my veins, causing my heart to pound against my chest I. I'll be able to land safely in the snow. With one leg outside the window, I sat up.

The wind blows hard into my face, making my eyes wet from the abrasiveness of the wind. I chance to look over my shoulder just as the bedroom door is kicked open by an enraged David, and I am caught off guard.

My bones are becoming cold as I gaze up at the night sky filled with stars. It takes a while for me to recall why I leaped out of the bedroom window, and then I recall my escape strategy.

My arms sink into the snow as I rise to my feet. I believe it's time for me to leave. As I stand, it seems as if the snow is sliding further into my boots.

The snow is around knee-high at this point.

I keep my eyes peeled behind me, hoping no one is paying attention. It's a huge relief to finally reach the edge of the woods without being chased.

Given the time of day and the darkness, my plan may not be as appealing, but I must persevere. I have no choice except to escape.

Despite the absence of snow, it is tough to navigate through the forest. My face and bosom are dripping with perspiration.

Because of the darkness, I am unable to see well. I'm unable to follow the moon until I have access to natural light.

For a few brief moments, I plod through the snow in loneliness, until a dreadful emptiness forces me to come to a halt. I had completely overlooked the problem of animals. My mind conjures up the image of a wolf biting the inside of my thigh.

Following the first anguish, additional hollows begin to emerge.

They seem to be several feet behind me, based on the sound they make. Because I'm worrying, I'm pressing harder at the No end of the hollowing, which is causing more damage. It continues repeating, becoming more audible with each step. Then they all take a breath. I'm getting close to the same spot where I met David and saw the fighting. As I approach the area, I am greeted with a rumbling roar. It causes me to feel dizzy. Just as I'm about to scream, the beast snarls at me. "Back up!"

All I can see are its blazing eyes and razor-sharp teeth. In the bush, I can't make out anything. My body trembles when I hear the crunch of snow signaling that it is coming closer. I was unable to run.
