Alpha's love -
Marcus
Marcus let out a growl as his mate slammed the door in his face, her scent receding. He didn't bother to test the door, his keen hearing picking up on the fact that she had locked the door behind her, before running out of the club. His mate locking the door behind her and running from him was the last straw for his wolf. He shifted involuntarily, his black fur standing on edge as he burst through the door, the flimsy lock snapping as if it were a twig. He didn't bother to head the screams of terror as the clubbers scrambled to get out of the way of Cassius, who tore through the club looking for his mate. (Cassius is Marcus's wolf)
Breaking through the dark glass doors of the entrance of the club he saw his mate's Black fur streaking down the street. His wolf let out a low howl at the sight of his mate's golden-speckled fur. She's special, moon goddess chose her. His wolf muttered as he sprinted after her, his large paws quickly gaining ground on his runaway mate. She disappeared into the forest and Marcus urged Cassius to go faster which earned him a snarl and string of curses. She was fast, Marcus noticed. He found himself struggling to keep up with her as her lithe wolf dodged around trees and leapt over fallen trees running as if her life depended on it. Then, just as suddenly as the chase began, it was over when his mate crossed onto her territory. Marcus almost lost it when she shifted back into human form, her naked body on display for his eyes. Then she yelled at him telling him to stay away from his boundary or she would wage war, then she had the audacity to call him alpha instead of mate, or Marcus, and his wolf howled at her retreating back. He shifted back after letting Cassius howl for his mate to come back for over an hour, despite wanting to let him sit here and hound her more, he had to get back to his pack. As if on cue, his delta mind linked him that Alpha Aria wanted to meet to discuss a peace treaty tomorrow afternoon at her pack house. His heart jumped at the idea of seeing her so soon, but his mood instantly soured when he realized that his delta had talked to his mate. Tell her to talk to me from now on...after all she is MY mate, Blake. he snarled at his Delta who immediately complied, wise enough not to ask questions about his sudden discovery of the identity of his mate. Realizing his mistake at shifting in the middle of the woods, several miles from his pack house he shifted once again and took off running towards his house.
Arriving home a little over an hour later, he stormed into the pack house, using his mind link to command his pack to the house for a meeting. When Blake walked in, Cassius wanted to make him grovel at his feet and beg for mercy after talking to his mate, but Marcus didn't have time to do that right now, he'd chew Blake out after the matter was settled and his mate was by his side.
The pack seemed to sense his foul mood as they stepped into the living room, where Marcus stood glowering at Blake who had settled in the corner of the room uncomfortably. When Marcus sensed that the whole pack was in the room he began retelling the events that had gone down earlier that day. "As you all know, things have been rocky with our neighboring pack, Full moon. Late last night, our beta was sent over to scout their territory in case we did have to attack, so we would have some knowledge of their land. Instead of obeying orders, he challenged their alpha and killed their beta. Because of this, Alpha Aria declared war until I went to meet her a little bit ago. We discovered that we were mates, and she agreed to hold off on war, agreeing to meet tomorrow afternoon at her pack house to discuss a treaty." As he finished, his pack mates began to murmur among themselves, one of the wolves stepped forward,
"Alpha, we understand that she is your mate, but if she is an alpha, how will she be our Luna?" Marcus frowned at this,
"well, of course, she will give up her duties as Alpha to come be Luna here." Some of the women of the pack laughed quietly at his statement, and he glowered at them. One of the older women of his pack, an honored elderly woman whom many went to with pregnancy problems, stepped forward bowing her head to the alpha before speaking.
"Sir, with all due respect, she is an alpha just as you are. She will not willingly leave her pack, no matter that you are her mate. Especially seeing as she is the first woman alpha, she will be more defiant because she wants to hold her place. You trying to take that away from her will only anger her more."
Marcus scoffed at her remark, "her place as my mate is by my side, not pretending that she can do a man's job and rule a pack of wolves. There is a reason that SHE is the first. While I love my mate, there is one thing I cannot support her in, and that is ruling a pack."
He held his chin up indignantly while the elderly woman raised her eyebrows at him, "alpha, with that attitude, you will soon replace yourself with no mate at all." Her words were so bold, that some of the pack members gasped, and Cassius growled so loud that the woman flinched, realizing her mistake.
In one swift move, Marcus was standing inches from the woman glaring down at her. "Are you THREATENING my mate," He said in a deadly tone.
The woman shook her head furiously, "No, of course not alpha! I only meant that she will refuse you as her mate if you try and force her to relinquish her duties. I have yet to meet her, but as a fellow woman I know that if my mate tried to force me down from my position as alpha I would turn him down. It would be the hardest thing I would ever do in my life, but if it were for the benefit of my pack, I would do it as an alpha." At her words, Marcus relaxed slightly, pondering her words before shrugging them off.
Turning away from the woman he stalked back to the fireplace that he had been standing by, ''well then, it is a good thing that you are not an alpha, that you are merely a midwife." Flexing his hands he dismissed his pack with a wave of his hand, I need a drink. He could feel his wolf's disapproval at his words but after everything that had happened today, a drink was the least of his problems.
