Alphas regret: Magnificent Return of the Rejected Luna -
Rejected Luna 38
Chapter 38
Rowena (Lorelei) POV:
The sun was barely rising when I heard the soft rumble of a car pulling up outside the house.
Sílas, ever punctual, had arrived to pick me up. I peeked out of the window and saw him leaning casually against his car, looking completely at ease. My stomach churned-not from nerves, but from the weight of my plan.
I stepped outside with Joanne and Joey holding my hands. Before I could reach the car, Branwen appeared at the front door, his gaze sharp and disapproving as he took in the scene.
ranwen," I said softly, stopping in my tracks as he approached us.
He crossed his arms over his chest, his expression dark. "So, this is how it's going to be?" he asked, his tone laced with frustration.
I sighed, taking a small step toward him. "I told you last night, Branwen. This is my choice."
"And I told you I don't like it," he replied curtly, his eyes flicking to Silas, who was now watching us with mild curiosity.
Reaching out, I gently grasped the sleeve of Branwen's shirt, giving it a small tug. "Please, Branwen," I whispered, shaking my head.
He snorted, the sound full of irritation. "Fine," he muttered, stepping back.
"But don't expect me to pretend I'm happy about this." Without another word, he turned and walked back into the house, the door closing with a firm thud behind him.
I took a deep breath, forcing a calm smile as I guided Joanne and Joey to Silas's car. Silas opened the door for us, his smile warm as he greeted the girls.
"Good morning, Joanne, Joey," he said, his tone light and cheerful.
"Good morning, Mr. Silas," they chimed back, their voices bright.
Once the girls were buckled into the back seat, I settled into the passenger seat beside Silas.
He glanced at me, his expression curious. "Everything alright?"
"Everything's fine," I said smoothly, though my thoughts were still lingering on Branwen's reaction.
Silas started the car, and we made our way to the girls' school. Joanne and Joey chatted happily in the back seat, their excitement about the day ahead filling the car. By the time we arrived at the school, their energy had eased some of the tension in my chest.
"Have a great day, sweethearts," I said as I kissed them each on the forehead.
"Bye, Mommy! Bye, Mr. Silas!" they called out as they ran toward the school entrance.
With the girls safely at school, Silas and I drove to the Evans Group headquarters.
The morning passed in a blur of meetings and discussions about raw material procurement.
It was business as usual, though I couldn't help but notice how attentive Silas was. His eyes lingered on me more than once, his smile soft and unguarded.
By the time the meetings were over, it was already noon.
Silaspuggested we grab lunch together, and I agreed. As we sat in a quiet corner of a nearby restaurant, Silas leaned forward, his expression serious yet hopeful "Lorelei," he began, "I've been thinking about what we discussed yesterday."
I set down my fork, meeting his gaze, "What about it?"

His voice softened, almost hesitant. "About you becoming my Luna. Have you given it any more thought?"
I nodded slowly, letting a moment of silence hang between us before I spoke. "I've decided," I said, keeping my tone even. "I'll do it."
Silas blinked, his brow furrowing in surprise. "You... you will?" he asked, as if he couldn't quite believe what he'd heard.
"Yes," I confirmed. "But let me be clear, Silas-this isn't about feelings.
It's about practicality. The Snowtooth pack needs a Luna, and as your friend and business partner, I'm willing to step into that role." For a moment, Silas just stared at me, as if processing my words.
Then a wide grin spread across his face, and before I could react, he stood up and pulled me into his arms, spinning me around. las!" I exclaimed, caught off guard.
"I can't believe it," he said, his laughter warm and genuine. "You've just made me the happiest Alpha alive."
I placed a hand on his shoulder, steadying myself as he set me back on the ground. "Don't get too excited," I warned. "This is a business arrangement, nothing more."
"Of course," he said, though the sparkle in his eyes suggested he wasn't entirely convinced.
As we discussed the details of the wedding, Silas brought up the matter of Lena.
"She'll need to be released," he said, his tone matter-of-fact. "There's a lot involved in the handover of the Luna's duties, and she's the only one who can guide you through it."
I considered his words for a moment before nodding. "Fine," I said. "But I want to be there when she's released."
"Of course," Silas agreed.
Later that afternoon, we arrived at the pack's detention center. When Lena was brought out, I barely recognized her.
