Alphas regret: Magnificent Return of the Rejected Luna -
The Rejected Luna 54
Chapter 54
He looked up at me, his usually sharp eyes now filled with helplessness. "How did it come to this? I don't even know how to fix it. They've already judged me, and there's nothing I can do to stop it."
His words hung in the air, and for a moment, he looked like a man who had lost everything. It was exactly what I wanted to see.
I forced my eyes to widen, feigning shock. "Oh no, Silas. This could ruin everything."
He sank onto the couch, his normally confident demeanor replaced by visible distress.
What am I supposed to do, Lorelei?" he asked, his voice low and pained.
I hesitated, as if torn. "Maybe... maybe I could talk to Branwen. He might have some advice."
Silas looked up, his expression both hopeful and skeptical. "You'd do that?"
"Of course," I replied with a reassuring smile. "I'll do whatever I can to help you."
Once Silas nodded, I excused myself to send a message to Branwen. It's ready. His response was immediate, containing the exact words I had asked him to prepare in advance.
I took a deep breath, schooling my features into a mask of terror before returning to the living room.
"Silas," I began, my voice shaking. "It's worse than we thought."
His head snapped up, alarm etched on his face. "What do you mean?"
I handed him my phone, showing him the fabricated text from Branwen. "The Alpha King found out about the death of his Luna. He's furious, Silas. Branwen says you're officially wanted." His eyes scanned the message, and his face drained of color. "Wanted? By the Alpha King?"
I nodded solemnly. "Yes. They're already searching for you. You're not safe here anymore."
Panic flickered in his eyes, and he began pacing. "What am I supposed to do, Lorelei? I can't fight the Alpha King!"
I hesitated for effect. "Well... you could hide. Just for a little while. At least until we figure something out."
"Hide where?"
I hesitated for a moment, pretending to be unsure about what I was about to say. "What about the basement?" I suggested, my voice soft, as if I was reluctant to bring it up.
"I know it's not the best option, but it's hidden. No one would think to look for you there. It might be the safest place for now."
I looked at him with a concerned expression, trying to make it seem like I was only thinking of his safety.
"It's just until things settle down," I added quickly, as if trying to reassure him. "You'll be safe there, Silas. That's what matters."
Silas frowned, his hesitation clear. "The basement? Lorelei, that place is-"
"I know," I interrupted, stepping closer. "It's not comfortable. But it's the only option. If they replace you here, it's over. Please, Silas. Trust me."
He sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "Fine. Let's do it."
I led him down the creaky staircase, flipping on the single dim light. The basement was damp and musty, with a faint smell of mildew.
Old boxes were stacked haphazardly against the walls, and the only window was too small to provide any real light.
"This will keep you safe," I said, my tone gentle.
Silas glanced around, his unease evident. "How long do I have to stay down here?"

"Not long." I lied smoothly. "Just until things settle down."
His gaze lingered on the door, then back to me. "You're going to lock it, aren't you?"
Inodded, pretending to be reluctant. "It's for your own safety, Silas. If someone replaces you here-"
"I get it," he cut me off, his jaw tightening. "Lock it."
I reached for the door, hesitating just long enough to sell the act. "I'll check on you regularly," I promised.
The door clicked shut behind him, the sound echoing in the dim basement.
I took a moment to let it sink in, then calmly slipped the key into my pocket, making sure it was secure.
small, satisfied smile crept onto my face as I looked at the closed door.
Finally, Silas was exactly where I wanted him. He was trapped, with no way out, completely cut off from the world above.
He couldn't escape, and he couldn't fight back. For the first time, I had full control over him, and he had no choice but to depend on me.
The thought filled me with satisfaction.
The powerful Alpha, once so confident and untouchable, was now helpless, locked away in the damp and dark basement, exactly where I had planned for him to be.
