Alpha’s Rejected Second Chance Mate by Pradeep -
Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Adam’s POV
“Welcome in The Blood Moon Pack, Prince Killian, I am Adrian Hopkins, the alpha of this pack, and this is my mate, my Luna, Elena Hopkins, my father greeted prince Killian in a formal and gentle way. Prince Killian nodded to him with a stone face and then looked at me. I cleared my throat and went forward.
“Good afternoon, Prince Killian, I am Adam Hopkins, the future alpha of this pack and this is (I gestured towards Rachel) my mate, Rachel Carter, from the Night Shadow Pack,” I introduced myself and Rachel to him. He raised a brow at us at first but nodded later. To be honest, he was really intimidated and the way he looked at us, it seemed that his dark emerald eyes pierced right in our souls
“You have a beautiful pack, alpha Adrian,” he said to my father in a cold tone while looking all around
“Thank you, my prince.. please come with me,” my father thanked him in a formal tone and then asked him to follow him. Prince Killian nodded and then started walking beside my father with his beta behind him.
“Have you informed everyone about my request?” he asked my father while walking towards the living room of the pack house.
“He is so handsome. I heard Rachel whispering something about prince Killian at the same time, and it made me furious.
“You should control yourself, Rachel, I scolded her in whispers, careful with my tone and loudness. We were wolves and could even hear a faint sound like fall of a needle on the ground.
“Yes, Prince Killian. All the newly shifted wolves will be in the training ground in the evening today except one,” my father informed him but his tone went low in the end. Prince Killian immediately stopped and looked at my father with raised brows. I didn’t know why but his eyes reminded me of Crystal. It was a coincidence that both Crystal and Prince Killian had emerald green eyes and even their hair texture was also same. I could say that they would pass for siblings if they stood up together.
“And who is this exception, alpha Adrian?” Prince Killian asked my father in a cold tone again. I didn’t know what the deal was with him and why he was so adamant to meet every new shifted wolf in our pack.
“Well she didn’t replace her mate on her eighteenth birthday here. So, she decided to visit to her aunt’s pack, The Crescent Moon Pack, in search of her mate. She wants to start her post–graduation in a human college but wants to replace her mate before that so that she can have his opinion on this too,” dad told him everything truthfully. I stiffened and balled up my fists tightly. I am sure that Crystal wouldn’t be able to replace her mate so easily. After all it was not easy to replace the second chance mate.
“Did you tell her about my request?” Prince Killian asked him in a cold tone again. My father immediately nodded in agreement.
“Yes, Prince Killian. I informed her when she was about to leave, but her travel was already planned. She will be back in a few days, my father answered him in a low and formal tone. I heard Rachel scoffing. Prince Killian stared at my father for a few seconds, before giving him a curt nod.
“I will wait for her return then, Prince Killian announced and I rolled my eyes internally in frustration. Why he was so adamant to meet Crystal? I got it that she shifted early but it didn’t change the fact that she was deceiving and arrogant.
“We have already informed about her shift to the king, my prince. You have every information on her in royal database,” dad answered him and I narrowed my eyes this time.
“You know our king’s orders, my prince. We have told everyone that she is a late bloomer. I did what our king ordered me to do, dad explained the whole situation to him in a low tone this time.
“That’s why I am here, alpha Adrian. I know about the king’s orders and also what we are hiding here. So, don’t worry about that. No one will know anything about her,” Prince Killian replied to my father in a calm tone and resumed walking towards the pack house.
“You sent a pack member away before alpha’s ceremony of your son. This is already enough to make me suspicious about something fishy here. She turned eighteen a few days ago, and she is so desperate to replace her mate that she didn’t want to attend an important event in her pack, huh?” Prince Killian continued, putting his suspicion, and my heart skipped a beat in fear.
His eyes were glued on me, and it made me trembled hard. “I told you not to mess with the Moon Goddess’s decision,” Neo whined at the back of my mind. I immediately blocked him as I didn’t want Prince Killian to get anything fishy about me and Rachel
I remembered what my father told me about his abilities. He could assess any wolves and it might be possible that he could replace out that I am not Rachel’s fated mate. I looked at Rachel worriedly and anger immediately filled my heart. She
was still looking at the prince like a love sick puppy. One could see the heart symbols in her eyes.
“Behave,” I muttered to her while stopping at the door of the living room. She looked at me while pouting, trying to act
innocent
“What did I do?” she asked me innocently and I groaned in anger. She was making things difficult for me.
I jerked my head in anger and walked inside the living room. I stopped behind the couch where my father was sitting next to the prince. My dad then briefed him about the progress of the pack. He also told the prince about our business in the human world. I only listened to them carefully so that I wouldn’t miss any important information
Again I was surprised when dad asked Warrick for Crystal’s laptop. The prince asked him the same question that was in my mind. My dad informed him that Crystal has completed her graduation already and was taking care of our business in the human world on behalf of my dad. I was startled by this information. She was only eighteen but she passed her graduation. How?
“You want to tell me that not only her wolf but she is also special, huh?” Prince Killian asked dad in a curious tone this time. Dad smiled and looked at Warrick.
“She is our beta’s daughter, my prince. Not only she, but her brothers are also intelligent and a quick learner. All of them. passed their graduation earlier than their ages. Her brothers are now pursuing their post–graduations, dad said with a proud smile on his l*ps. Mom also had a proud smile on her face.
“What’s so special to brag, huh?” Rachel whispered almost in an incoherent tone.
“Shut up,” I scolded her through my teeth. She was now getting on my nerves.
Prince Killian chuckled and looked at me with a piercing gaze making me gulped in fear.
“It’s then loss of your pack that she didn’t replace her mate here,” he said to my father while looking at me. I already had dug my nails inside my palm, but his comment made me dug deeper. He was rubbing salt on my wound.
“Anyways I need to rest for a while,” he said to my father and stood up from the couch where he was sitting with my father My father nodded and then looked at me.
“This way, my prince,” I said to him in a respectful and gentle tone while gesturing towards the stairs. He nodded and put his hands inside his pockets before walking ahead of me.
“If he asks you anything, answer him truthfully, Adam. He can detect a lie easily,” my father mind–linked me and warned me to stay cautious about my answers.
“Got it, dad,” I answered him while walking with the prince upstairs. We had arranged his room at the floor with us. His beta was also on the same floor. Just like other royal wolves, Prince Killian was also taller than six feet, approx. six and half feet. His broad physique was enough to make any alpha feel low in front of him. His voice was thick and gaze was denser than his age
“What’s the name of the she–wolf who went out to replace her mate, alpha Adam?” suddenly Prince Killian asked me while walking upstairs with me, taking me off guard.
“Uhhh… Crystal.. Crystal Spears, my prince,” I answered him in a calm tone. He looked at me with raised brows but I lowered my eyes. To avoid any suspicion, I shouldn’t make eye contact with him.
“I guess you didn’t know anything about her before,” he said again and I took a deep breath this time.
“No, my prince… not only me, but her brothers were also unaware about her early shift. They only knew that my father has put a command on her and she couldn’t shift without his permission but they also didn’t know the reason,” I answered him truthfully because there was nothing to hide here.
“Are you sure that she didn’t her mate in this pack, alpha Adam?” suddenly he questioned me in a mocking tone. I looked up at him surprise.
“According to what I know about early shifters, their mates are always a high rank wolf like an alpha or a prince. It’s a pity if she didn’t replace her mate here, he mocked me and my heart skipped a beat in fear.
“I don’t know anything about this, my prince. I wish th. that she replaces her mate soon. She is a lovely, and intelligent girl,” I answered him but my voice faltered a little due to fear. He smirked and I almost got a heart attack because of that mysterious smirk on his face.
“I wish for the same,” he said with that mysterious smirk on his face. I smiled, trying to mask my nervousness. I left him
I outside the door of his room, and took my leave from him in a respectful way. His beta who was also following us bowed his head a little before I almost flee from that place. I walked towards my room as I needed sometime to calm myself
down.
I closed the door of my room and leaned against the frame of the door while closing my eyes. I had to stay cautious around him if I really wanted to finish everything without any problem. His statement about Crystal’s mate was still ringing
inside my mind. Prince Killian had so many hidden specialties and it was now making me worried.
Suddenly I opened my eyes when something came into my mind. If what the prince said is true then she couldn’t be mated to Theo Blakefield, right? He was her cousin. Of course she can’t be his mate. But what if????????
No, no, no, no…. this can’t be… she couldn’t have a second chance mate so early. She had to come back here. She was only mine…..I needed to do something to ensure that she didn’t replace her mate there. I remembered that her aunt was also about to come today. I couldn’t ask her directly but could use William to get the information.
I flinched harder when I heard a knock on the door. My heart almost came out of my mouth in fear. I patted my chest to calm myself down. It was Rachel on the other side. I opened the door and she entered the room completely ignoring me. I closed the door behind me, and shot daggers at her through my eyes.
“Will you come out of your fantasy, huh? I am really ashamed of you, Rachel,” I scolded her while marching towards her on the bed.
She immediately looked at me with an annoying look. “What did I did?” she asked me in an annoying tone. I grabbed her hair at the back of her head and pulled them hard. She screamed in pain, but glared hard at me.
“Do you not have any self–respect, huh? You are going to mate with me tomorrow yet you are drooling over other man, What are you? A s**t, I screamed at her, and she yanked her hair from my grip, pushing me harder. She took me off guard, and I stumbled on my feet.
“You have no right to treat me like this, Adam. Don’t forget that we both are together in this lie. Don’t ever…. ever… treat me as if I am at your disposal. I am not your fated mate, and I know very well that your love is nothing but a façade,” she spat while glaring hard at me.
“You,” I took a step towards her but she jumped off the bed, snarling at me, and extended her nails. “I am also an alpha blood, Adam. Don’t forget that,” she threatened me while barring her canines. She stormed out of the room, leaving me alone in the room. “Aaahhhhh,” I screamed in anger while pulling my hair. Now I was having this feeling that she would put me in a grave danger by her reckless behavior. I planned everything perfectly but now it seemed that I was walking towards my own grave.
