Alpha’s Rejected Second Chance Mate by Pradeep -
Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Killian’s P.O.V.
“Something is not really adding up here, Crystal. Don’t you think that they are in more comfortable with each other as love rivals?” I said with a troubled expression. on my face. I really didn’t understand the relationship between my father, and Nelson.
“It’s clear that they are hiding something very important from us, brother. We must start looking for a way to mother up. Only when we will have all the
wake o answers to our questions,” Crystal said in a calm tone, but I could see that she was troubled too.
We were in the small study of my room. This room was soundproof and that was why, we were talking openly about our parents. “I need to go back to the Crescent Moon Pack in a few days. It’s not good for an alpha to stay away from his pack,” she said after some time, and I just hummed in response. It had already been two weeks. So, her concern was right..
“You can go after the alpha’s meet tonight. Theo also has to attend the meet,” I said, and she nodded. “What do you have in your mind?” I asked her in a calm tone when I felt that she was way more silent than she usually is.
She took a deep breath, and looked in the direction of the window. “I think one of us should go to the Night Crawl Pack,” she said, and I pursed my l*ps into a thin line. “I can go,” I suddenly said, and she looked back at me. “I am their prince. Of course, they have to welcome me there. I can go there saying that I want to look for my mate,” I said, forming a plan to go there.
“With hybrids all around us, don’t you think it’s too risky?” she asked me in a cautious tone, and I frowned. “Are you taking me as a coward, Crystal?” I asked her and she blinked innocently. “I dare not,” she said faking innocence, and I felt like beating her right this very instant. “I dare you to even touch her,” Blake threatened me, and I frowned deeper. Now my wolf was also ready to fight with me.
Suddenly Crystal stood up and went towards the balcony. I followed her with a confused look. “What happened?” I asked her in a confused tone while going behind her. “How far the palace is from the borders?” she asked me instead of answering me while looking out of the window. “The palace is in the middle of the pack, at an equal distance from all the borders‘ check posts,” I informed her.
She didn’t say anything but kept looking in the same direction. “Ask the north check post to scan the whole area,” she said, and 1 frowned. “Some unknown
wolves are hiding there. They are not rogues; they definitely belong to a pack, but they are strangers,” Blake said in a serious tone, and all the lines on my forehead immediately straightened up. Someone dare to sneak on us.
I immediately mind–linked with Edward and asked him to look into this matter. There was no way that I would let someone keep an eye on us. This is The Royal Pack… Not a joke. “They are not enemies,” Suddenly, both Crystal and Blake spoke at the same time, making me startled. “What do you mean?” I asked both of them in confusion.
Crystal looked at me, and I saw a calm expression on her face. “Nelson said that he did everything to protect you all these years. How?” she asked, and I pursed my l*ps into a thin line. She raised the right question. “If my knowledge is right, the pack has been under attack so many times in the past. Do you remember what happened all these years?” she asked me in a calm tone, but I narrowed my eyes.
“Do you think that he has left a troupe of warriors or assassins here to protect the pack?” I asked her in a bit of an aggressive tone, and she nodded in agreement. I opened my mouth to refute but closed it when I remembered that Dad also said. that same thing to him when I was unconscious. I was waking up when I heard them talking about me.
I heard Nelson scolding Dad while saying something about ruining his efforts and sacrifices. “I need to use your computer,” suddenly Crystal said, and she walked towards the study table in the middle of the room. I sighed aloud and followed her. “When did you install the security system all around the pack?” she asked me while switching on the laptop after sitting down on the chair. I sat beside her on the other chair.
“Five years ago, after a big rogue attack,” I told her briefly, and she nodded. She logged in the security system, and I just watched her open so many folders, and files. I guided her from time to time, knowing what she wanted to see. Although we had written reports in the archive, I knew her well. She wanted to watch the footages.
“What are you two doing?” I looked up when I heard Theo’s question. “Come here,” I instructed him in a calm tone before looking back at the laptop screen. I had asked the security team to sort all the important footage according to the events, using the dates as their names. Theo stood behind my chair but didn’t ask anything.
“If Nelson has assigned a team to keep an eye on our pack, they must be out, hiding themselves well. I am sure that they came out of their hiding during those attacks to help you guys whenever you were attacked,” Crystal said while playing

the first video, and I just took a deep breath. We all watched the footage carefully, and my eyes narrowed when I saw some unusual movements during that attack.
“Wait…get back 30 seconds earlier,” Theo instructed Crystal, making her pause the video, and she went thirty seconds back. “Keep it slow,” Theo instructed her again and I also moved forward towards the screen to see things more clearly. I narrowed my eyes when I saw a few wolves, jumping on a group of rogues from
en their behind. It was clear that they weren’t from our pack as the distance position, and our pack was bigger than the highest leap that a wolf can take.
“Stop,” I yelled when my gaze fell on a familiar wolf. Crystal immediately stopped the video again. I put my finger on the paused video and looked at Crystal in astonishment. She was shocked, too. “He was really here,” I said in shock and looked back at the video, still having my eyes widened in shock. “Let Edward and Nathan watched all these videos, and also some videos from other days to see if he was really present on the days of the attacks only or if he was always around,” Theo said in a calm.tone.
There was silence in the room, as none of us knew what to say. The screen was still, and I was just staring at the wolf looking at the battle from afar. It was just a glimpse, but I knew those eyes. It was Kai, Nelson’s wolf. He was standing calmly between two dense trees, looking at the rogues like a predator looking at his prey. “That’s right. Let’s Edward and Nathan handle this,” Crystal said with a sigh, and looked at me. At the same time, I also moved my head towards her. “Did Edward tell you
what he observed at the border?” she asked me, and I raised my brows immediately. “I have blocked the mind–link,” I murmured, and I immediately opened the mind–link for Edward.
“Where are you?” I asked him in a calm tone. “You were right, Killian. Someone is keeping their eyes on us,” he answered in an angry tone. “What did you replace?” I asked him in a calm tone. “There are so many different scents on the other side of the tree line, almost half a mile away from the pack borders,” he informed me, and I raised my brows in surprise while looking at Crystal.
She raised her brows and tilted her head. “Different scents?” I asked Edward about the scents, still keeping my gaze on Crystal. “Yes, Killian…. But they are not rogues, They are from the same pack that I can say,” he answered me in the same tone, making me take a deep breath.
Edward and the patrol team picked up some scents half a mile away from the pack borders.” I told Crystal and the corner of her mouth curled up. “What is it, Killian?” Theo asked me in a calm tone, but I didn’t look at him. “Crystal… the distance between that place and the palace is almost around 30 miles. How did you
sense those wolves from here?” I asked her in a calm tone but kept my eyes narrowed.
She frowned and looked between me and Theo. “Thirty miles? No… you have miscalculated the distance. No wolf can sense another wolf from that distance,” she said with a frown on her face, but my expression didn’t change. “What side of the border?” Theo asked her in a calm voice. “North side,” she told her, still looking between me and Theo in confusion.
There was once again a thick silence in the room for a good few minutes. “What is it?” she asked Theo nervously when neither of us said anything. There was a storm going on inside my mind right now. I had done a thorough study on the special powers and abilities of a legendary white wolf. There was nothing mentioned. about their ability to sense other creatures at a far distance.
“That place is indeed thirty miles away from where we are right now, Crystal,” Theo answered her in a calm tone, but I could feel some uneasiness in his voice too. Crystal jerked her head, still looking at us in confusion and disbelief. “It reminds me that you sensed the danger coming our way when we were attacked in the middle of our way here. The vampires were still very far from us, yet you sensed them at that time,” Theo continued, and my heart skipped a beat.
“It…. It was Luna who sensed them… not me,” she told him in a nervous tone this time. “Hey… hey,” I immediately reached for her hand and took her hand in mine. Her palm was completely covered in sweat. “So… something is wrong with me and Luna, right?” she asked me in a fearful tone this time, but her voice cracked in the
end.
“Of course not,” I answered her immediately, trying to comfort her, but my voice faltered. “Luna is dangerously silent, Killian. I am worried about her,” Blake suddenly informed me in a worried tone. “Crystal…. Where is Luna?” I asked Crystal in a hurried tone. Why is Luna not responding to Thunder?” Theo asked her at the same time in a worried tone, and tears started streaming down her face.
“She… She re… retreated and has blocked everyone, even me… she… she is… is,” Crystal cried while holding my hand tightly. “Hey,” Theo approached her this time, and I slowly stood up from the chair, and pushed the chair behind, giving him the space to come forward. Crystal released my hand and held him tightly.
Wh… what is wrong with me, Theo? Why are we like this?” she asked him in at choked tone. “There are total twenty different scents in total, Killian, The strange thing is that there are more than twenty people here. A few of them have managed to conceal their scents,” Edward mind–linked me again, and my jaw clenched.
Keep searching for them, but don’t put yourself in danger.” I instructed him while
looking at my sister who was now crying bitterly.
Tneed to make a call,” I muttered while taking my phone from the table and walking towards the door. I knew that Theo could take care of Crystal but I needed an answer to a question right now. I didn’t want Crystal to hear my conversation. and I knew that I had to go to the other side of the palace for this. So, I ran towards the other side of the palace. I didn’t want to assume anything on my own now. I was scared of my own imagination now.
I stopped in the backyard while breathing heavily. I was sweating furiously due to anticipation. I didn’t want my thoughts to be right. I immediately dialled Nelson’s number and put the phone on my ear while biting my nails anxiously.
“What is it?” he asked me in a tired tone. “What was wrong with my mother when you replace her back then?” I asked him in straight words without beating the bush around. There was silence on his side, and it increased my anxiety. “Did something happen to Crystal?” he asked me in a calm tone after some time, and I felt that someone had snatched the ground under my feet.
