LEAH

"You're making a big mistake," I warned, flinching as the knife grazed my neck.

"Keep quiet," the guard growled, his breath hot against my skin. I wiggled stubbornly. Unfortunately, the dress made it worse; I cursed at it and equally cursed at my abductor. What he wanted was still a mystery to me. What was I thinking, agreeing to be the Luna of a dangerous man? Of course, they would try to kill me, but why not finish the job here? "Where are you taking me?"

He shoved me, and my legs tangled with my dress. I hit the ground hard, pain shooting through my body.

"Bastard," I groaned, trying to get a grip on the ache. He yanked me up roughly, pushing me down the hallway. When he opened a door, it revealed another narrow, dim corridor. I noticed a crack in the wall, catching a glimpse of cooking pans hanging on it. This had to be the pantry-empty, away from the kitchen but probably someone had to be close by. Andy, anyone at all. Goddess, I left them in the wedding hall. How will they replace me?

"HELP!" I screamed, but pain exploded in my skull as something hard struck me.

"Useless bitch!" he spat.

I fell to the ground, the blow left me dizzy, my head pounding. Panic gripped me as I fought to stay conscious, but my vision blurred, and his voice began to fade. "Help..." I whimpered, barely audible.

"Nice try, but let's keep moving," he sneered and pulled me up. I fought

stay conscious as we continued down the dark hallway.

The moment we crashed through the doors and spilled out into the open, my head was spinning like I had just been hit by a moving truck over and over again.

My vision was smudged and hazy, the world a blurry mess, but I could tell by the cold breeze that slapped my face and the image of a black high iron cladded gate that we had gotten to the back gate of the mansion.

The guard's grip dug into my arm, bruising, merciless. Fear tightened around my throat, and despite the throbbing pain in my skull, I couldn't help but struggle, a last-ditch, frantic grasp for some flicker of hope. But that flicker faded quickly when I saw the car parked just beyond the gate, its dark silhouette crouching like some waiting predator.

A figure stepped out. Faceless, masked, shrouded in dark clothing, like something out of a nightmare. He didn't speak; he simply opened the car door and waited.

The guard shoved me forward, almost tossing me into the back seat like I was a piece of baggage.

"Is she the one?" The voice was low, muffled behind the mask, but it carried a hint of annoyance, maybe even distrust.

"We don't have time for that. This bitch already made enough noise with that scream. Let's go." The guard sounded impatient, darting nervous glances over his shoulder. But the masked man put a hand on his chest, stopping him from climbing into the driver's seat.

"If we've got the wrong girl, he'll kill us both. Think about that."

My voice was barely a whisper, but I forced the words out, clawing for some last scrap of defiance, "Let... me...go. Alpha Damien...will... will have your heads." The words dripped from my lips, weak but defiant. I wasn't even sure they would understand me.

Inside my mind, a silent plea rose. Goddess, please, if this is it, just...if this is the end for me, please keep Sarah safe. Don't let her suffer. It was a desperate prayer, my last plea to whatever power might be listening.

The car lurched as it began to move, but barely a second later, something heavy smashed down onto the trunk with a force that sent the whole car jolting, rocking on its wheels. I was too dazed to lift my head, but I saw the guard and the masked man scramble out of the car, cursing under their breath.

Then came a sound that cut through the night like a blade a roar, deep and rumbling, so fierce it made the car tremble and seemed to echo down into my bones. I have never heard anything like it, nothing that held so much raw, brutal power.

Clawing at the door, I somehow found the strength to force it open. I half-fell, half-tumbled out, hitting the ground with a thud. The rough gravel bit into my hands and knees, but I barely felt it.

My gaze was fixed on the massive figure prowling out of the shadows, a beast of black and white fur, standing tall and fierce, like some vengeful spirit summoned from the depths.

My breath caught as recognition sank in. That aura-it was unmistakable. An Alpha. An Alpha's power had a way of getting under your skin, making every hair on your body stand on end. And I knew, somehow, that it was him. Damien. He was here.

Relief surged through me, so strong it nearly brought me to tears. He was here. My heart hammered with a mix of joy and desperation. Damien was here. I didn't know how he had found me, but he had, and that was enough.

The wolf lunged, a deadly blur of muscle and claws, and I watched, frozen, as Damien tore into them. The guard and the masked figure didn't stand a chance; his fury was like nothing I had ever seen, and he moved with a lethal grace that was both beautiful and terrifying. They barely managed a scream before he had them both, shredding them like they were nothing.

I wanted to cheer, to scream his name, to do anything to let him know I was still here. But my body was giving up on me, fast. The adrenaline that had been keeping me going all this time drained away, leaving me weak and dizzy. Black spots danced across my vision, and I couldn't hold myself up anymore. My body slumped, sinking onto the hard ground, and I felt the darkness closing in.
