Loki's POV

"You're out of your mind, Jonathan," I yelled at him. "Why the hell would you bring that up after everything that has happened?"

"I haven't heard you come up with any bright ideas, Loki." Jonathan retorted, his eyes blazing. "All you do is brood and stay silent while we rack our brains trying to figure out how to save your birthright." "Jonathan," Elijah began, trying to ease the tension in the room. "I think we're taking this a little bit too far, don't you think?"

Jonathan ran his hands through his tousled hair. "Look, I'm only trying to help here. If you have any other bright ideas, I'm open to hearing them."

He sounded defeated at this point and I understood how he felt.

"This can't be the only option we've got, brothers." I began. "Have you thought about the repercussions of what that would cost us?"

"I don't think we should give a damn about what people would think right now, Loki." Jonathan cut in. "They don't have anything to lose, we do. We're supposed to look out for ourselves alone."

"We rejected her in this same house nearly a year ago," I began. "This same house. We did that and we sent her packing without offering any form of assistance or help that she might have needed."

"We had no choice and you know it," Elijah sounded defensive. "Tell me, what would you have done back then? Allowed her to stay?"

I opened my mouth and snapped it shut immediately, Elijah was right. Our hands were tied and there was nothing we could do about it.

He took my silence as his cue to keep on speaking. "You know as much as I do that we were left with no option but things aren't that way anymore."

"We jilted her, brother. On the day of our wedding, we jilted her. Things like that never get forgiven or how do you plan on bringing her back given the possibility that's still alive?" I asked, looking between the both of them for an answer. "I think we need to cover the basics first then we can start thinking about other possible solutions to tackle the major problems," Jonathan replied after a few seconds.

"What basics?" Elijah turned towards him.

"We haven't decided if we're going to go through with this plan or if we're going to have to decide on something else. We can't afford to waste any more time chasing shadows."

"This is going to be a big gamble. We're jumping into uncharted territories with everything we've got." I began.

"It's either this or we go back to chasing every single woman alive till we run out of options." Elijah began, shrugging his shoulders. "The way I see it, both options are pretty much huge gambles."

"We're going to have to do a lot of convincing to bring her back here."

"No s**t, Sherlock." Jonathan sighed. "Anything else we have to check out?"

"Yes," I replied and for the first time, I doubted if this would work.

"What's it, Loki? You sound worried." Elijah sounded concerned as he moved closer to me.

"What are we going to tell Father when he asks why she came back?"

The room fell silent like I thought it would, each man locked with his thoughts and fears.

"We need to come up with something." I began. "This is our only shot before we lose our throne."

"We say nothing to him for now. We wouldn't want to get him upset, so we stay silent and keep it to ourselves till we're done dealing with Arielle." Jonathan suggested.

"He's right, Loki." Elijah backed him up. "We can't solve all of our problems right here and now, we just have to take it one at a time. As Jonathan suggested earlier, we need to take care of the basics first and after that, we map out a plan." "I think we're all in agreement. Arielle has become our top priority."

Elijah and Jonathan nodded in agreement. The plan was in motion now, the next step was to locate where she would be.

"How do we replace her? It's paramount that we place this in the hands of the best men we can replace."

"I have someone in mind," Jonathan suggested. "He'll provide us with whatever we need."

"His discretion is what we mostly need. Father cannot get wind of this before it comes crashing down."

"Believe me, I know. There's no one better for the job than he is."

"How much time does he need?" I asked, trusting Jonathan's judgment.

"I have no idea but whenever he has the information we need, we'll get notified straight away."

"So in the meantime, what are we supposed to do?" Elijah asked this time and I merely shrugged.

"We wait and pray she's not dead yet."

***

Jonathan had been right to place his trust in this friend of his. One month later, we received the most shocking revelation of our lives.

He had managed to replace Arielle but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Not only had he located Arielle, but she had also given birth to a newborn a couple of weeks before he found her.

I didn't want to believe it but he had sent pictures to prove his replaceings and there was no denying it. It was clear as daylight.

"How the hell didn't we figure out she was pregnant before we sent her away?" Elijah asked no one in particular as slammed his fist into the table. "This whole situation just got a lot more complicated."

"She has changed so much since the last time I laid eyes on her," Jonathan clung to the pictures, his eyes fixated on it. "I nearly didn't recognize who she was until I saw the color of her eyes."

"We have a son," I whispered to myself, I couldn't believe it either. It seems so surreal. "I still can't wrap my head around it."

"A baby complicates everything." Jonathan groaned, pulling at his hair. "We have to start all over again and we're running out of time."

"We can use this in our favor." I cut in, gaining both of their attention.

"Go on, Loki. We're listening."

"If we manage to convince her to return, I believe a father would have no objection to her presence given the fact that she has a son who would carry on with our family's legacy after we're gone," I answered. It was going to be a longshot but I could imagine the scenes if it worked out in our favor.

"What would happen when people replace out we had a child out of wedlock? It's not going to end well." Jonathan reminded me.

"That's why we need to hide the truth about our child until we're married and our birthright is secured, hell can let loose afterward. The aim is to protect what's ours at any cost."

From the look on both their faces, I knew they had bought into the notion.

"It's not going to be easy." Jonathan began, he still held the pictures in his hands. "I'm staring at Arielle right now and trust me when I say she's different. She looks confident and full of life, she's not the same person we claimed to be our mate a year ago." "It's the reason why we need her back. She's the right fit, no one else would be able to replicate what she has done on all three of us."

I picked up the file and scanned through the reports, nodding my head as I read through them. She had managed to get herself into a new pack and according to the reports, she was the pack's favorite and a highly respected friend to the Alpha.

She was training to become a medical doctor at one of the most prestigious universities in the country and despite her countless attempts to refuse the suitors lining up for her, she never stopped getting an endless line filled with eligible wolves hoping to pry her away from her new pack.

Jonathan was right. The girl they claimed in the school's cafeteria was gone, I was staring at a woman now. A woman who lacked nothing, she was simply breathtaking and I knew we had to get her back at all costs. She wouldn't be available for much longer and to avoid starting a war with other packs at a time when they couldn't afford to let things spiral out of control even further, they had to get to work now no matter how difficult it would be.

She had birthed a Van Tyson, the son of the Van Tyson triplets and their successor to the throne. She belonged with them no matter how ugly the past between them was. I knew there was no way I would let her go now and my brothers were on the same page with

me.

A Van Tyson always comes back for one of its own and they were coming for Arielle and their son, no matter what.
