Loki's POV

"Don't you think we should confront her to know her stance on coming back?" Jonathan asked after a few minutes of silence, running his hand through his wavy blond hair.

"Do we need to?" Elijah was feeling irritated already. "If I didn't know any better, I'd say you're becoming attached to our dear Ms. Arielle, Jonathan."

"Jonathan is right, Elijah." We need to make sure she doesn't feel hurt or feel unwanted enough to turn us away." Liam pointed out. "I know this is going to be a long stretch but we have to give it our all now."

We were back to our study after our father dismissed us. For a moment when I was in there, I could hear the sound of victory. I was that close to getting what I wanted and setting myself and my brothers free but everything came crashing down.

Elijah groaned. "Why would she? She's going to get paid for her troubles if needs be, I don't think she's going to give that up. It's going to be a contractual marriage, no feelings involved and if she wants to take care of our son, she would do as we say without much fuss."

"If we don't make her feel comfortable, she's going to leave. We need her, not the other way round." Jonathan added, slightly irritated at his brother.

"You know this is a rather delicate situation and we can't afford to clean up any potential damages you're going to cause us because of your insatiable ego."

I straightened my suit as I sat down on the couch. "We don't know anything about her lifestyle for the past year except for the report the investigator handed us and if we want to gain her trust, we need to give her something in return. We can start by telling her why we need her back here and the money and incentive of keeping our son close should be-"

Elijah growled in a low menacing tone, cutting me short before grabbing the bottle of whiskey off the table and glaring at his brothers.

"You're placing too much importance on her and it's starting to get on my nerves." He brought up the bottle to his mouth and poured its contents down his throat, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. "Before you tell her any more than she needs to know, we need to trust her first. I can't begin to imagine waking up one morning to the news of our failure in securing another Luna all over the news. That possibility of that gives me the chills."

I sounded exasperated at this point. Elijah was pissed over something neither I nor Jonathan knew anything about.

"You should have rejected your father's wishes there and then, why the hell are you taking your frustration out on us? I f*****g have a lot to deal with already."

"Do you need a huge banner hung above your head with the words Arielle hates us before you realize that this has the potential of blowing up in all our faces? Did you miss out on that part, brother?" Elijah pointed out.

"She hasn't said anything yet. The fact that she has moved on with her life is a sign that she holds no grudge against us. First love dies hard and you know this." Jonathan glared at Elijah.

Elijah laughed bitterly. "You're sounding desperate at this point. I understand we need her to curb this growing threat before it gets out of control and we go on a raging rampage fighting for the throne but we also need to be cautious as well."

"We took Arielle from her home, nurtured her back to full health, after we informed her in front of the entire school that she's destined to be our mate. After being subjected to the pressure we fixed upon her, she reluctantly accepted but you still don't trust her to forgive us? Heck, you're dismissing her without giving either party a chance in the first place!" Jonathan yelled.

I looked over to Jonathan, urging him to put an end to this dispute for good. We were going to make no effort if we carried on this squabbling amongst ourselves.

"You lack empathy, Elijah and I'm not in the mood to argue further. You don't trust anyone and while that's understandable, we can't let you ruin our plans further. We are going to speak to her immediately and clear up any misconceptions she might be having right now. And when we're done, we'll make sure she comes back here at any cost." I said with a note of finality before standing up and making my way toward the door, my brothers following behind.

We had a lot of ground to cover and sitting in there wasn't the best option. I had to lead from the front and hoped they would both follow, we had to be United as one if we were going to succeed.

I cursed immediately my phone rang as soon I crossed the hallway leading towards the front door. I had instructed my assistant not to call unless it was of the utmost importance. Irritated, I slid my phone out of my pocket and stared at the screen. It was from one of my subordinates.

"The plane is up and running, we're waiting for your arrival when you're ready, sir."

I nodded and ended the call.

After the meeting with our father was over, I wasted no time in setting up an arrangement to fly one of the numerous planes over to have our first confrontation with Arielle accompanied by her new pack, no doubt.

Our valets had packed up a few bags for our trips and everything was nearly ready.

We made our way to the front and headed towards the open fields situated behind the mansion where the plane was waiting for our arrival.

We were greeted by a host of servants and a regiment of soldiers who would be accompanying us on the trip. We were ushered inside and within a few minutes, we were heading to Manhattan.

"Remind me, Loki, just what are we going to do in Manhattan?" Jonathan asked, snuggling deeper into the chair.

He had barely had enough sleep over the past few days and a quick nap wouldn't hurt.

"The ring," Loki replied. "We ought to pick it up in person. It would bode well for the media when it's time to let the news out."

Elijah laughed bitterly. "You're sounding desperate at this point. I understand we need her to curb this growing threat before it gets out of control and we go on a raging rampage fighting for the throne but we also need to be cautious as well." "What's that supposed to mean?" Elijah cut in this time, he was curious as well.

"If we want her back, we have to pull out all the stops given the circumstances that she becomes difficult to handle alone." Loki started. "My first plan is to use the media to twist the narrative surrounding the truth about why she left. Creating a sob story about love and the need for a second chance shouldn't be too difficult to come up with."

Jonathan was impressed by his work ethic. They often had their differences but he couldn't doubt Loki's ability to make things work in their favor.

A little over an hour ago, he was sternly against the idea of Arielle's return. He went to great lengths to fool our father in a bid to overturn his threats to a favorable verdict for us and now, he was coming up with different solutions to solving Arielle's conundrum. "You're diabolical, Loki." He began. "I don't think I have the mental capacity to figure out how you've suddenly come up with countermeasures if our direct approach fails but I'm glad to have someone like you in our corner."

"Losing my throne to a wolf beneath my status is something I would not condone, Jonathan. I will not be ridiculed by our father's ludicrous demands when I know I can fight and claim what's ours by right." I replied, feeling anger course through my veins.

I had worked my a*s off to get to this point. I've done every one of father's bidding without question or delay and I knew Jonathan and Elijah had sacrificed just as much as I have. If anyone deserved to be called Alpha, I had to be the Van Tyson's triplet. No one else was befitting of the crown and I would fight with the last drop of my blood to secure what's mine.

"Making rash decisions in the heat of the moment will not aid our cause, Loki," Elijah said this time, he sounded calmer and in control of his emotions than he was earlier. "Spontaneity cannot be the driving force behind this mission."

"I know this, brother. Trust me on this." I offered him a reassuring smile. "Contrary to what you might think, I've always had a backup plan for moments like this."

"You knew father would want us to bring us back, didn't you?"

Elijah pinned me down with an accusatory stare.

"If I did, I wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of trying to get him to change his mind, would I?" My smile was still fixed on my face.

"We often make harsh decisions in the heat of the moment."

"You should get some rest, Elijah." My gaze moved over to Jonathan who was sleeping soundly. "It's going to be a long week for all of us and I need you functioning properly and I hope you toss this irritable attitude out the window. I've had enough and I won't tolerate any more of it from now onwards."
