Arielle's POV

I couldn't stop feeling angry at myself and my decisions. My thirst for revenge had led me to be blindsided by my ambitions.

I had wasted the whole of the new life I had managed to carve out for myself in a new pack away from the heartache that was starting to shape me up and I threw it out the window because I wanted the Van Tyson triplets to pay. That wasn't all, my fiancée, Ethan, had called off our marriage as soon as I ended up making a fool of myself in front of him, the Van Tyson triplets, and everyone else.

My pleas had fallen on deaf ears and I understood his decision. I had decided against going with his plan because I wanted to make them suffer and not be killed easily. I wished I could go back in time to set things right but I couldn't. This was my life now and I had done everything I could wanted to do. All except one.

I might have failed woefully the first time but I wasn't done yet.

I still had to have my revenge on the Van Tyson's and this time, I wouldn't hold back because I had nothing to lose anymore.

"Jana would be stunned by your presence when she sees you," Loki began, trying to kickstart a conversation with me but I wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone.

My son, Ethan, was sleeping soundly in my arms. I didn't want to be one inch away from him before one of them took him away from me forever.

I remained silent, I didn't see the need of trying to keep it formal between us when they knew I hated them with every fiber of my being but I couldn't help but think about Jana and how we had been forced to part ways. In many ways, she had been more than a maid to me. She was my best friend and companion, she was the only person that I spoke to in the Van Tyson pack and it had hurt to leave her behind despite her insistence of coming with me, but they wouldn't let her, and now, a year and a few months later, I was being brought home by the same people who banished me had come looking for to bring me home.

It still sounded so surreal why they would want me back and I hadn't come around to asking either of them yet. I didn't buy their bullshit story about realizing they made a mistake. It's been over a year, if they meant their words they would've come for since but why now?

There was something I was missing, something I had to figure out. When I do, it'll help me gain some leverage and with that, I would have some advantage myself, and with that, I can begin my plans for revenge. But before any of it would work, I had to talk to them. "Why?" I began, looking around the car at the three of them as it sped down the highway making its way to their destination where they would then use the private plane and then head home.

"What do you mean by why? Jonathan asked me, seemingly confused. Loki and Elijah had their eyes on me as well.

"Why did you come back for me? I was genuinely happy where I was. I had a second chance to restart my life and it was going well, more like a fairytale until you three showed up and decided to inflict more misery on me like you did a little over a year ago." "We wanted you back home. It's where you belong not in a strange pack with a strange Alpha and you have our son as well, we couldn't just sit back and watch him grow somewhere else. The thought of that happening didn't sit right with any of us." Jonathan explained, drumming his fingers softly against the leather seat of the limousine.

"Have you stopped to wonder if he's your son or have you three made yourself believe he's a Van Tyson by blood?" I asked, trying to throw them off balance. This was the only way I was going to get the answers I wanted, I was having doubts if they would willingly open up to me if I didn't persist.

"The months don't tally with when you met Ethan," Elijah replied this time. "There's no way he can't be ours. Nice try but you're not going to pull a fast one on us. The child doesn't look like Ethan to begin with."

"You don't know what he looks like in the first place," I retorted. None of them has bothered to spare a second glance at him ever since we got into the car, it was like they didn't care about his existence but Ethan was different. He doted on my child to a fault and Luciana did the same as well.

She was sad to see me go but understood why it had to happen, saying goodbye to her hurt just as much as parting with Jana. She had become not just a friend but a mother to me and my child too.

"You wouldn't let us near him either," Loki defended them. "We don't even know what his name is either, how do you want us to build a connection with him then?"

"His name is Ethan, Ethan-Blake Van Tyson," I said, picking the words slowly, holding their expressions with my eyes as I stared at them.

The shock on their faces was amusing and delightful to watch at the same time. It was like they couldn't bring themselves to believe what they had just heard.

"You named our son after Ethan?" Loki began slowly, his voice was in a menacing low tone. I searched his face with a smile plastered on him, he was struggling to put a lid over his anger.

"Yes," I answered promptly. "When the three of you decided to banish me from the pack after humiliating me at the altar, Ethan was the one who saved my life and nurtured me back to full health and strength. If he had left me out there in the woods to die, you wouldn't have come all the way here to bring me back because I would be dead."

"It doesn't justify anything, especially not this terrible choice of yours." Loki frowned at me. "You could've named him anything else in the world, anything else and I wouldn't bat an eye. How do you expect him to grow up into a fine young man after he realizes that you named him after your lover?"

"Ethan wasn't my lover. He was my friend and my fiancé. We were supposed to get married in a few weeks and become mated as one until you showed up."

"We arrived just in time before you made the biggest mistake of your life." It was Jonathan who spoke this time around.

"I already did that when I accepted to be your mate," I harshly bit out and little Ethan stirred in my arms. "No one would ever do what they did to me and still come back to finish what they started. No one except the Van Tyson's, it goes to show how ruthless and wicked you are. You don't care about me, it's pretty evident. Neither do any of you care about your son. So why did you come back for us?" I yelled, my eyes blazing with rage.

The car fell silent for a couple of seconds before Loki took a deep breath and began to explain.

"You weren't what we wanted in the first place. For around a year, we considered other options and explored them as best as we could until we were left with no choice but to come calling for you as a last resort. If anything, you're right. We didn't come back because we missed you or because we cared about you so deeply enough and I'll be honest, we didn't come back because of our son either. We didn't even know he existed until we began to search for you."

"So why did you decide to ruin my life?" I scowled. "For the fun of it?"

"You had to come back home. Primarily, you gave birth to a son for us and a Van Tyson always comes back for one of its own but most importantly, we need to secure the throne from our father. He's going to name his successor any moment from now."

I was confused about the whole situation. "What do you need me for? To convince your father to give you three the throne? You're his sons, who else would he pass it down to?"

"You're right about one thing. We're his sons but we don't have a mate yet and if we fail to have one before the succession ceremony approaches, he would be required by tradition to pass the throne down to his Beta."

"What do you mean by you don't have a mate? We've been separated for a long time now. Surely, you couldn't have found it difficult to get someone else in my stead?"

The silence in the car was deafening. My eyes widened as realization dawned on me.

In a bid not to lose their throne and given their difficulties in mating with someone else, they had turned to me.

If I didn't know any better, I held the fate of the Van Tyson brothers and that of the entire pack in my hands.
