Arielle's POV

You're banished from the Van Tyson pack, Arielle.

It had come as quite a pleasant surprise but I had been half-expecting it to happen after what I did. I knew what I cost them and how it has affected the succession of the Van Tyson's in the long run and by extension their offspring as well.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting to see the light of the day every day. I thought I would be locked up in the dungeons without food or water as my punishment but if they had decided to banish me, I'd still take that.

"You don't look the bit remorseful after the kind of stunt you pulled a few days back," Loki was seething but I didn't care. The thing was, I didn't care about much these days. I had gotten what I wanted, I had satisfied my thirst and every other thing was now a secondary need.

"Why would I be remorseful about anything?" I retorted with a smile on my face. "I didn't do anything that wasn't expected of me."

"You jeopardized our future and yours as well," Loki replied. "Have you ever stopped to think about the negative consequences of the stunt you pulled?"

"I knew what I wanted and how well I wanted it to hurt and that was what I did, I made sure to hit you three where it would hurt the most as payback for everything I've been through at your hands."

"This has always been your mistake." Loki scoffed. "You often act without thinking things through and it's been your Achilles heel right from the start."

"If you're trying to make me feel bad because I ruined your plans of becoming Alpha by using me to sell a pathetic love story, you have it all wrong." I laughed. "It'll be better if you let me be."

"You still think the world revolves just around you and while that has been evident since I knew you, it hasn't changed till now. You soiled our plans and got your revenge, I commend you on a job well done." Loki began. "But do you think we're the only ones affected? Our son is a Van Tyson, he has our blood running through his veins. Your stupid decision didn't just ruin us, you ruined his future as well."

"He's going to be better growing up in a healthier environment compared to this den of toxicity," I yelled. "I don't want him becoming anything like the three of you during his formative years. If he turns out to be anything remotely close to either of you, it would break my heart. So yes, I did him a favor. It doesn't seem that way now but it would in the long run, I'm quite certain of that."

"And tell me, Arielle, how do you plan on providing the necessities needed for him to go as a banished wolf?" Loki laughed, shaking his head. "You could've been content with the life we wanted to give you. At some point, it was what you wanted, all you ever wanted over eighteen months ago."

"Eighteen months ago, I was a naïve teenager fooled with the promise of a better life and a much more promising future compared to what I had in front of me and while that had been true at the time, my banishment had served as some sort of eye opener. While I was here as your mate, I believed I couldn't do anything by myself. I mean, I was always bullied and insulted every single day of school until I met you guys and that was when everything stopped. I became untouchable and I was highly respected throughout the rest of my days in high school. Heck, I was even voted prom queen. But life is more than fancy tags, expensive clothes, and taking trips around the world. I have to be honest with you and myself, taking your offer would've been the most lucrative choice I would've made. I would've been able to do anything or have anything I wanted without hesitation but the truth of the matter is, I wouldn't have been happy. Not in the slightest and I couldn't spend the rest of my life taking a smile or pretending to be something I'm not, it would plunge me into depression and I'd begin to die slowly. I'm sorry but I couldn't just give you what you wanted at the cost of my happiness."

The room fell silent for a while. Their eyes were still fixed on me, harsh and unforgiving. It was just as I expected, I didn't think they'd forgive me and I was content with that. If I were in their shoes, I'd hate myself forever, no matter whatever excuse I made or how I try to justify my actions.

We had different backgrounds and upbringings and while this hadn't been an issue the first time due to my limited knowledge about life, when I went out of the pack, I began to understand some simple concepts about life. Ethan, Luciana, their pack, and my personal experience had contributed greatly to my learning curve. At 20, I was a lot different from the 18-year-old teenage omega wolf they claimed as their mate. I wouldn't give in to their demands any longer, I now had a mind of my own.

"While your story is quite touching and interesting if I might add, your description of yourself as some righteous wolf being plagued by the Van Tyson's makes zero sense." It was Jonathan this time, he'd always had a soft spot for me but he was addressing me as harshly as he had ever spoken to me before.

"You claim to have been used, taken advantage of because of your limited options, and brainwashed into making decisions but why should we believe anything that comes out of your mouth? You see, the problem with trying to absolve yourself of every possible thing that would make you look like a bad person is, you're bound to leave trials that would prove your innocence wrong. We never treated you badly while you were here and this is something everyone knows while I'll admit we went overboard with sending you away, we haven't done anything wrong towards you after that."

I scoffed. "You're regarding that moment as insignificant because you were at the receiving end. I can barely stand you all anymore because of what I faced out there."

"You can hate us for all of eternity and we would understand your decision. Our first motive for bringing you back wasn't to seek your forgiveness, we're past that and we're not going to spend time bugging you about something you're not willing to do." Jonathan argued. "The thing is when you spend a lot of time around us like you have, you end up becoming one of us. You can't fight it and neither can you do anything about it. Power is addictive and it influences everyone no matter how strong and willful you feel you are, there's a certain degree of power that always manages to take control of you."

"Where are you going with this?" I frowned, unable to see the point he was trying to make.

"You say you hate our show of power because we force people like you to do our will but the first time we came back for you, you had us complete the tasks in the Book of Impossible Tasks just because you could and because we were at your mercy and you wanted your pound of flesh for what has transpired between us."

"They're nothing similar, Jonathan." I retorted, my eyes blazing. "Don't you dare gaslight me!"

"You did it because you felt you were well within your rights to do so. You wanted your revenge and you saw an opportunity that could've killed one of the three of us and you took it." Elijah let out a dry laugh. "If I didn't know any better, I would say that's something people like myself would do. And to put extra emphasis on why you're a hypocrite, when we completed the tasks and brought you home, the teenage you that you now loath would've been content with accepting her new role. I mean, you set the rules and you lost without any interference from a third party. The plan was for you to come and take your place beside us for the rest of our lives but you went behind our back to stab us, so don't you give us tales of being different. You're every bit the same as the people you loathe.

I opened my mouth to speak but I couldn't get the words to come out right. He was right, everything he said was the truth. Slowly and unknowingly to me, I had become everything I hated because I'd been blinded by the idea of revenge for a very long time now and I'd done everything possible to get it, not minding the cost I had to pay.

"You have three days to set your things in order," It was Loki speaking this time around. "Within those three days, my brothers and I would decide on the welfare of our son and when the three days are up, you will leave the Van Tyson pack and you will swear an oath never to return except in the case of death."
