Chapter 131

Sensing the cold glint in Jerome’s eyes, Connor knew he’d gone too far. He flinched and added mischievously, “I meanyou have good intentions. It’s just that you’re not executing them very

well.

Imagine Mikayla visiting another man in the middle of the night and bringing back a gift that was meant for another person for you. Won’t you get upset as well?”

Jerome frowned and rebuked impatiently, “She used to demand gifts from me. So, I thought she’d stop bothering me if I bought a present for you.”

“You have to put in more effort,” Connor said. “Won’t you get mad if she gives you a present meant

for another man?

Shut up,” Jerome snapped. “Stop making it sound like she’s having an affair!”

Connor slapped himself gently on his cheek for his slip of tongue before continuing, “It’s just an example, Jay. Look, you can’t even bear the idea of that example. Don’t you think Mikayla will feel equally upset as well?”

“She clearly knew about my relationship with Kylie. I can’t just leave her alone when she has just

fainted, can I?”

Infuriated, Jerome rambled, “Kylie wouldn’t have asked me to pass Mikayla the present instead if

she was nicer to Kylie!”

His mood soured quickly, and Connor immediately lost the courage to throw in any more insults. Instead, he answered, “Jay, I’m with you on that. Mikayla won’t stand a chance if you’re really going to date Kylie.”

“Who are you to judge her?” Jerome slammed Connor’s proposal on the table. “Take this back and

redo!”

Connor was rendered speechless. He was on the verge of tears. Just what did he do wrong? It

was entirely coincidental that he always seemed to deliver the proposals to Jerome whenever he

was in a bad mood.

“Jay, please! You’ll have to coach me on this because I really did my best!” Connor whined.” Otherwise, I won’t leave you alone for the next 24 hours. You won’t be able to attend tonight’s dinner and spend time alone with Mikayla!”

Scowling at Connor, Jerome said, “Go to my office.”

“Alright!”

Chapter 131

Mikayla received a call from Betty in the afternoon, inviting her over to Ansoft. Taylor, Betty, and the other senior executives were already there upon her arrival. Taylor looked unfazed compared to the Ansoft employees.

As one of the desired investors, Taylor’s appearance indicated something dreadful had happened.

Betty, what happened?

Betty’s assistant informed her that one of their clients suffered from alcohol poisoning after drinking their wine. They even relayed a diagnostic report from the hospital, claiming that Ansoft’s wine wasn’t up to standard and Ansoft only meant to create a gimmick to trigger impulsive

consumers.

Furthermore, they asserted that despite Ansoft’s guarantee of high quality, low–grade ingredients were employed to maximize their profit.

Customers had begun to demand refunds on the internet.

“We’ve released the test reports and food safety certificates. Though the situation is slightly

better now, it’s easy to sway the netizens‘ opinions. If things escalate quickly or rumors of people getting alcohol poisoning begin to circulate, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

Mikayla was aware of it as well.

“Betty, have you looked into it? Who is behind all this?” She had drunk the wine as well, but she was completely fine.
