Chapter 238

“Enough. You don’t have to explain,” Mikayla interrupted him. “You’re not a doctor. So what if you know about it? Would my wounds stop healing on their own?”

Jerome was once again rendered speechless.

He won’t be able to talk to her about last night’s incident now that she feels annoyed. So, he had no choice but to set the topic aside.

Then, he took out a card from his pocket. “This is for you.”

She scoffed. “What is this? Compensation?”

After Mikayla gave him 100 thousand dollars for a monthly massage last time, Jerome never used that word again.

He gave an acceptable reason. “I don’t have time to accompany you and Grandpa out of town. I’ll cover all the expenses of your trip.”

She refused. “No need. My family isn’t that poor.” She phrased it in a way to make it clear that she wanted nothing to do with him.

Jerome suppressed his discomfort and asked, “Shall I go with you then?”

Mikayla immediately took the card after hearing that.

Though he could just be joking, he would ruin her mood if he did join her out of spite. Since he was willing to offer to pay, she wouldn’t be so stupid as to decline the money.

He could tell what she was thinking. He pursed his lips without saying anything.

They y arrived at the Davidson residence after a while.

Mikayla still draped her coat on her left hand and exited the car with her handbag.

Eduard was already waiting in the courtyard. She walked over cheerfully toward him. “Grandpa!

“Kay, why would you want to accompany me to Lakeville? You always said the climate there was too dry and refused to go,” he asked.

“That’s not a big deal. I brought enough hydrating spray and face masks. I just want to be with you!”

While they were chatting. Jerome and the driver came over with the supplements.

Eduard was astonished when he realized Jerome had come with Mikayla. “Jerome? Shouldn’t you

working at this time?”

be

After signaling the driver to take the supplements inside, Jerome smiled politely. “Grandpa, I know you’re going to visit a friend, so I prepared some gifts for you.

“You’re so thoughtful. Eduard smiled. “Since you’re here, do you want to stay for lunch before returning?”

It was almost 11:00 am. Jerome glanced at Mikayla and wanted to nod in agreement, but then his phone

rang

It was from Carter.

He excused himself and walked to the side before picking up. “What’s the matter, Mr. White?”

“Jerome, Kylie hasn’t eaten since last night. Could you come over and help me persuade her?” Carter

pleaded.

Jerome frowned slightly. “Why would she not want to eat?”

“She said she wasn’t feeling well and had no appetite, but I knew she’s just angry with me.” Carter slightly choked. “Kylie blamed me for questioning your wife last night. She thought you would misunderstand

thinking she asked me to do so.

“I was too worried about her yesterday, so I questioned your wife out of impulse. It’s my fault. Please

don’t blame her. It has nothing to do with her.

“No conclusion was drawn last night so I would put any blame on anyone. Kylie said you don’t need to look into it anymore. After all, the matter involves your wife. She doesn’t want to cause you any dilemmas.

Carter’s voice became more choked. “Jerome, you haven’t called Kylie since last night. She didn’t say anything, but she must be keeping it pent up inside her. She’s my only daughter. Could you please come here to persuade her? Let her know that you don’t blame her.”

When Jerome heard that, he subconsciously wanted to see Mikayla’s expression, but she and Eduard

were no longer in the yard.

“Jerome?” Carter called out again when he didn’t hear any response.
