When they got to the base19 one of the soldiers was carrying John to the inside and Franklin were following him like if it was one of his children got injured. The soldier putted John on a stretcher and they took him to the doctors.

The base was pretty similar to that of they came from, nothing was really different except the base was too crowded and Franklin was amazed by this. It was crowded not only by civilians, but there was too many soldiers in comparison with base4.

“How things are too different?” Franklin was wondering how there is too many people here.

Few civilians approached toward Franklin who was fatigued. “Hey where did you came from?” asked a young man.

“We came from base4” said Franklin with a weak tone.

“Leave him alone…can’t you see how tired he is?” said another older guy who seemed to Franklin to be in his 40’s before he took him to a quiet place in the base away from the crowd. Franklin told the guy their story from its start to the horrific scene of Deon in the clutch of that dragon.

“Say…do you have place for more people?” said Franklin.

“I don’t know…I can’t decide such things” said the man.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean the base manager who decide whether more people can join the base or not…as you can see the place is already crowded, and add to that…” the man suddenly stopped talking.

“Add what?”

“Some of this creatures out there carrying a certain virus that turns human to zombies”

“Yes, I remembered that…but don’t worry no one got bitten by them”

“So go talk with the base manager, Captain Adam”

“Where I can replace him?”

“I will take you to him” said the man.

“Here’s your guy” said the man as he was pointing at a young man around the same age as John, wearing the full military full outfit.

“Go and tell him, he’s a good man”

Franklin got close enough to him so he saw him then he left his companions and headed to Franklin. “Your friend will be alright, I’ve been there seconds ago”

Franklin took a deep breath: I hope so…but there are too many people needs help in base4.

“Alright…I guess it will be not a problem but we must make sure that they are not sick first”

“I totally understand you, sir…thanks” said Franklin.

Someone called Captain Adam so he left him with mixed feelings; he was happy that base19 wasn’t destroyed but he was gloomed by the loss of his Friend.

After hours of waiting, John was finally out of the operating room, laid on the bed with no slightest move and Franklin was beside him, looking at him.

“Is he alright?” said Franklin to one of the doctors who’ve been there.

He examined the records he was holding: His condition is not stable…he needed immediate medical care after he was injured.

Franklin’s soul melted with these words as he was preventing himself so hard from collapsing. Despite he has nothing to do with it but he was blaming himself for what happened.

It wasn’t a strange feeling for him of losing somebody, he lost his wife and his daughter before but the looks on Deon’s face while he was in the clutches of this creature is something he will not forget that easy.
