Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia) -
Chapter 1057
Staring at the bulging figure on bed, Willy was startled inexplicably. He stood frozen for a while before he climbed into his side of the bed and shut his eyes. He had no idea how much time had passed before he finally felt a wave of sleepiness overwhelmed him. In the midst of falling asleep, he vaguely felt something moved beside him again. In a blur and being uncertain whether he was dreaming or awake, he seemed to have seen a figure got up clumsily again. Such routine repeated itself a couple more times that night. Willy wondered if he was dreaming.
As the scene appeared again in his head, Willy subconsciously reached out to touch the pillow next to his. His eyes flew wide open when he realized the side of bed next to him was empty. He saw the bedside lamp had been switched on again and it was angled specifically so that the light shone dimly onto the corner, so that it was less bright and would not wake him.
Was it not a dream after all? Did she really get up so many times that night?
As far as his memory served him, she didn't have that sleeping pattern. She often fell asleep and only woke up at dawn. He first thought that she would wake up in the middle of the night due to her hunger pangs during her pregnancy, but Willy suddenly realized that every time she woke up that night, they were for trips to the bathroom.
Very quickly, he heard the faint sound of toilet flushing, so he half-closed his eyes.
He saw a large-bellied figure yawned and walked towards the bed. She was familiar with what she was doing but when she reached the side of the bed, she moved obviously gentler and slower, as if afraid of waking him. With every movement she made, her eyes were aware of the movement next to her. Seeing that she was clearly sleepy but still dawdling, he deliberately made a sound clearing his throat. Sure enough, her body froze the moment she heard it.
After what seemed to be forever had passed, only then did she gently adjust her pillow, leaned on it and switched off the bedside lamp.
Almost immediately, the sound of gentle snoring filled Willy's ears. Willy was wide awake then and his mind was filled with the scenes from moments before. He kept thinking of her slow movements, and the clock's hand pointing to 4:15. The scenes played in his mind like a short clip on repeat.
That was the first time Willy felt deeply moved and had truly realized the pain and hardships a woman had to endure during pregnancy.
It turned out that having a nanny to take care of her was not enough. Her body would swell up and she would sometimes get so clumsy that she can't even touch her own feet. She had to get up multiple times at night and barely got a good sleep. She must be at the brim of collapsing from exhaustion and yet she was still so considerate...
In that moment, Willy realized that he had thought of the whole process to be too easy. She was pregnant, but his life didn't seem to change at all. Apart from buying her some supplements, he hadn't contribute much to her pregnancy. When he needed to work overtime, he still did, and he didn't think much about her. Ever since she had moved into his apartment, they had even less interaction with each other. Also, because it was just recently after New Year, and she had just gone back to teaching, it seemed to him that he had not spent much quality time accompanying her, let alone spending their nights together.
"Ah..."
Suddenly, she screamed beside him. He immediately got up and cried,"What happened?"
Lauren was half awake and she was barely opening her eyes. She mumbled as she touched her belly, "Ah, the baby is kicking me... be good, baby, be good... hmm..."
She continued to pat her belly, trying to comfort the baby, and started humming while being in a daze. It went on and off, and her voice was suddenly louder sometimes. Although Willy wasn't sure what she was humming, but he was sure that she was humming a lullaby to the baby.
Seeing that she was doing all the movements swiftly without even opening her eyes, it was obvious that it wasn't the first time that she had done that, and she must have been very used to it already.
Lauren cried out again then. Willy absentmindedly reached out and placed his hand on her belly. Suddenly, he felt as if he had touched something alive and immediately withdrew his hand. His eyes widened all the more. Was... was the baby kicking him?
His whole body went tensed and sweat formed on his forehead. Wanting to replace out if it was true, he put his hand on the belly again and felt different spots of it. However, he couldn't feel the movement he felt earlier anymore. Willy frowned. Why did the baby stop moving?
"Come on baby, kick me... I want to feel you!" Willy wouldn't back down.
He whispered the words in his heart for a long time.
When Lauren opened her eyes, she saw Willy lying stiffly beside her, with his hand on her belly. He was staring at her belly, frowning once in a while. She rubbed her eyes and spoke sleepily. "What are you doing?"
Returning to his senses, Willy realized that half of his body was getting stiff. He retrieved his hand, put it back on her belly, and said, "Did the baby just move? Why did he stop?" "Hehe..."
Seeing his dumbfounded expression, Lauren was amused and slowly turned over and sat up. Willy was shocked again.
It seemed that even sitting up was tough for her!
She was a person who was quick to response, but she swelled up so much then that she looked like swelled up snail.
Sitting up, Lauren turned and swung her legs to the side of the bed. Finding a position that she was comfortable in, she then touched her belly and smiled at Willy.
"The baby will move at irregular timings. Sometimes it is very frequent, sometimes it does not move for a long time. The baby also needs to sleep..."
Was he really waiting sillily to feel the baby's movements?
Lauren then got up and walked bare feet to the bathroom again. She had purposely put a pair of slippers in front of the bathroom before she slept, so that it would be convenient for her when she needed to use the bathroom.
Willy was awake as well then, and got up behind her. When he checked the time, it was not even six o'clock yet.
Similarly, Lauren came out soon
enough that me. She was very familiar to the routine by then. She sat back on the bed and wiped her feet on the floor mat before getting into bed. Her movements were swift and silent. Willy felt sad as he saw that.
Stroking her hair, Willy gently kissed her forehead," I'm sorry, you've suffered so much..."
It was probably the first time he had a clear sense of responsibility that he was going to be a father, and it was a feeling he couldn't describe.
Hearing that, Lauren's heart seemed to be touched as well. She responded with a faint smile.
The ordinary and uneventful night had more or less left some remarkable imprints in both their hearts.
After that day, whether it was
intentional or hot, Willy took the
าวน
initiative to understand more about the pregnancy process. He even consulted a gynaecologist. As he knew that Lauren didn't like to socialize with others, including the servants, when it was just the two of them, he would make more time for her, even if it was just to sit with her.
As Tutu was pregnant, Lauren was in a very good mood. Without having Willy to force her, her visits to the villa became more frequent.
On that day, she finally finished analyzing the formula. She also made a detailed description regarding the ingredients to make the antidote, hence Lauren was in a particularly good mood.
After leaving the lab, she even
purposely made a trip to the
supermarket to buy some groceries in excitement. She bought some
pork bones and plenty of other foods. She planned to celebrate her success with Willy in the evening. She wanted to make some bone broths too as it would nourish her body and also Tutu's body.
She paid to have someone send her home. When she reached home, Lauren went straight into the kitchen.
