"Not only are you spending the money of the dead, make dirty deals, and even discredit the dead. Do you not feel guilty and wake up frightened?!" "What a dog in the manger. When are you going to stop welshing?!"

Screaming and shouting, the only thing Cindy hadn't done was stomp. Waverly dusted her dress as though she heard nothing, calm and collected. She'd quirk her brows from time to time, but her sight remained on the red wine stain, looking as though she felt bad about her dress. Her behavior, languid, and gaze, desultory, only sparing a couple of glances at Cindy. Even so, it only looked like she was watching a jester doing something inappropriate, not stooping to her level.

Cindy was gasping when she finished her tirade, turning livid with rage in a split second. "Waverly Castle, you really are f*cking shameless! When are you going to return our betrothal gifts?!"

Pausing her action, Waverly glared daggers at Cindy but uncharacteristically chuckled.

"Haha, betrothal gifts? Oh, so now you remember I'm a member of the Wright family, my dear sisterin- law? Pity though; have you forgotten I'm widowed, not divorced! Since I'm divorced, why should I return the betrothal gifts?"

Her worlds shut Cindy right up, looking even more awful in an instant.

Waverly was all 'none of your anger bothers me' endearing princess kind of an attitude as she checked her nails.

"Seeing that we used to be in-laws, I'll let this slide this time! My dress costs a fortune, my dear sister-in-law. Better take a good look before you make your move next time, or I worry... you can't AFFORD the damage even if you BREAK THE BANK!"

She deliberately emphasized her words as she glared daggers at Cindy and even deliberately pulled her collar up in front of her as if she worried Cindy wouldn't notice her sexy and eye-catching revealing collar.

Sure enough, Cindy turned livid with rage the next second, speechless, "You, you..."

She stomped her foot.

"Fine, don't return the betrothal gifts, but shouldn't you use it to pay the debts?! How dare you hog all the money and live like a king when we have to shoulder the burden of bankruptcy and owing debts?! You evil wench! Your mother must've also died because of you! A courtesan who can't stand to be alone!"

Waverly guffawed with her head up and forced her tears back. When her gaze landed back on Cindy, she crossed her arms in front of her chest and smiled smugly.

"Why, are you jealous? Isn't it thanks to your family that I can live my pretty little life?! Speaking of which, I really have to thank my 'fake' wealthy father; experience sure counts. If it weren't for him, we wouldn't have signed the prenuptial agreement, and I wouldn't be bound to any debts. Think of what you guys did before you go around accusing people. The whole of your family came together to deceive me, yet you have the audacity to accuse me of filing a divorce?! Do you really think you're royalty and make abusive clauses?! Pfft..." With a sneer, a trace of cold determination appeared on Waverly's face.

"You are the one who should f*cking leave. Who do you think you are to criticize me?! I won't be this nice the next time!"

What a bunch of shameless a*sholes!

She hadn't wanted to stoop to her level, but some people just had to learn the lesson!

Just as she was about to leave, someone tugged

at her wrist. "You-"

As their gaze met, Waverly frowned, thinking, "What? Does she want a fight?" She refused to believe Cindy dared to do so in such an event.

However, her thought was only inchoate when she heard a slap and her cheek burned. With a stumble, Waverly's ear buzzed as she looked up with incredulity, wide-eyed.

She actually dared slap her?!

It seemed that no one had expected such a scene, gasping one after another, all dumbfounded.

Akimbo, Cindy acted like a fishwife on the streets.

"Shameless b*ches like you should be taught a good lesson; why should I play nice?! Do you think you can satisfy your vanity beyond your ability as you please because this isn't Yecaeus City? F*ck you!" While speaking, Cindy went in for another strike.

"Stop..."

Wyatt shouted immediately, but just as he took a step forward, Waverly had grabbed her hand and returned the slap before Cindy could react.

"This is for the slap!"

Flinging her hand, Waverly shoved Cindy, who was twice her size, away. Evidently, she had used immense strength.

"Watch your claws and foul mouth! Casterwich City, or Yecaeus City, I will show you who's boss if you dare touch me again!"

Her gaze was filled with animosity;

her intimidating vibe stunned

everyone, and the hall fell silent in a split second. Everyone seemed to have frozen over; Cindy was filled with terror, jawdropped, unresponsive for some time.

Groups of people clearly surrounded them, but Waverly didn't seem the least bit uncomfortable when she fixed her dress and hair and gracefully put her fallen heel back on before she strode to the exit with her head held high. Wyatt went up to her, but just as he reached his hand out before he could speak, Waverly walked past him without even glancing at him.

Wyatt froze for a second, knowing that she was probably mad at him for not standing up for her, and quickly chased after her.

Successfully catching her by the elevator, he grabbed her arm. "Waverly, your dress..." is soiled!

He was surprised that he had called out to her for the first time so naturally, yet under such circumstances.

But before he could finish his words, his hand was flung away by a great force, and an extremely cold and ruthless voice followed.

"F*ck off!"

His body quirked as shock filled his eyes at her cuss. Though he had witnessed how feisty she could get, her uncharacteristically boorish attitude still surprised him.

His gaze unconsciously focused on

her face, but what responded to him

was the elevator door closing. After being stumped for a few seconds, he quickly pressed the descend button and entered another elevator.

Catching up to her outside the exit, Wyatt rushed ahead and blocked her path. "Waverly!"

He was once again stumped when his gaze inadvertently landed on her swollen cheek with a slap mark. "Your face... are you okay?"

He didn't expect her to be injured so badly. That woman must've used a great deal of force.

It must hurt a lot!

He had reached his hand out before he knew it.
