Chapter 265

Casper nodded, then headed into the underground gambling resort, which was located in a semi-basement. Its entrance was covered with two layers of quilt so that the place was soundproofed. WhenStallion stepped forward and pulled the door open, loud chatters and noises rang out.

Then, Casper walked inside. The place was messy. There were around a dozen tables. At every twotables, a gang member stood by, watching. Various games were available, such as dominoes, rummy, poker, dice, and baccarat. Although the place seemed dingy, most games that were usually seen atcasinos were included there.

The air reeked of cigarette smoke. Other than the dealers, everyone was basically holding a cigarette. They were emotional, and their eyes were bloodshot. This was either because they had lost a lot ofmoney or they amassed a fortune.

Stallion brought Casper along, passing through the gambling resort, and went directly to the owner’sroom.

The owner was a chubby and sleazy-looking man in his forties. His name was Timothy Sandberg. Hewas always smiling, yet people like him were the most dangerous.

“This is our boss!” exclaimed Stallion as he gave Casper a thumbs up. The chubby man immediatelyhanded a cigarette over and began complimenting, “You’re a young and promising man! With the helpof Dragon and Tiger Gang, I was able to open this gambling resort.” He paused and spat, thencontinued, “Now, this has already become Firewolf Chamber’s territory. Sorry for talking nonsense! Ideserve to be punished.”

With that, Timothy gave himself a slap. It was so hard that the sound echoed through the entire room.

“That’s enough,” Casper interrupted. “How long has this gambling resort been operating?”

“Business has been going on for a year. However, it’s only partially open. If we aren’t under strictsurveillance, we’ll keep it open; if not, we’ll close it,” replied Timothy, giggling.

“How much money have you made for Firewolf Chamber?” asked Casper.

Staring at the man, Timothy was contemplating whether or not the former was easy to fool. As soon asCasper showed the gun on his waist, Timothy’s face turned pale. “Let me calculate it for you. If we addup the money we make from those gamblers, it’ll be around forty thousand. But most of the revenue wemake is from the debts. After calculating the interests, the money we lend to them starts at tenthousand, and we can get a hundred thousand in return.”

Shaking his head, Casper thought that such a business operation had ruined the lives of many. Hewaved his hand and said, “Shut it down soon. Firewolf Chamber doesn’t need this small amount ofmoney.”

Timothy let out a hollow chuckle. “What are you talking about? How can we disregard theconversations about money? Back then, Firewolf Chamber and I used to split the profit evenly. Yet,things are different now that you’re here. Thirty percent for me, seventy for you. How’s this?”

Casper glared daggers at Timothy and said, “I told you to shut it down. Don’t you understand?”

In an instant, Timothy was panic-stricken. After all, Casper had a gun, and the gambling resort was fullof his men. Thus, Timothy gave Casper an apologetic smile and said, “Boss, please don’t do this. Asmuch as I love money, I won’t risk my life for that. You call the shots here. If you tell me to shut it down,I’ll do so. However, can you tell me the reason?”

“Gambling is bad. What other reasons do you need?” Rolling his eyes, Casper stormed out of the roomwith the gun in his hand. He knocked it against the wall to grab everyone’s attention.

“Apologies, the gambling resort is closed. Everyone leave!” he yelled.

However, those people were too immersed in their games to respond to him. Without even a pause, they continued with what they were doing.

“I’m so close to winning. How can I just leave? Even if you hold me at gunpoint, I won’t leave,” said oneof the gamblers.

Tilting his head in confusion, Casper asked, “How’s the soundproofing here?”

“Uh, no one outside would hear a thing if dozens of people were to fight here,” replied Stallion.

Nodding, Casper pulled the safety catch. Pointing his gun upward, he opened fire.

It was only then that the gamblers stopped in whatever they were doing. As his eyes darted around hissurroundings, Casper asked, “Who still wants to continue gambling now? Why don’t you bet how manybullets I have in my gun?”

In a flash, the gamblers stood up, getting ready to leave. Casper nodded and said, “That’s more like it.Don’t ever come back again. This gambling resort will be closed down for good.”

The gamblers, who were on their way out, stopped moving. One of them asked boldly, “What about mydebts?”

Casper snapped his fingers and said, “They’ll be wiped clean.”

Hearing that, the gamblers exchanged looks in disbelief. Casper shrugged and added, “It’s up to youwhether or not you want to believe it. Don’t gamble anymore. Spend more time with your wife and kidsat home.”

Eyes turning red as if they were rabbits, the gamblers looked at Casper, then shifted their gazes towardthe gun in his hand. “Are you a cop who’s suspended the operation of this gambling resort?”

Feeling helpless, Casper said, “Fine, if that’s what you think. Remember to not gamble in the future. Doyou really think you can make money from this? Dream on. Getting a proper job is the most practical.”

Suddenly, someone among the crowd burst into laughter. Then, he said in a hoarse voice, “There’s nouse in persuading them. Once a sinner, always a sinner. These bastards won’t change no matter howmuch you persuade them.”

The gamblers then made way for the person who was speaking.

Timothy became worked up the moment he saw the person. “It’s him! He’s the one who cheated andwon lots of money!”

Scrutinizing the person from head to toe, Casper nodded silently. He knew that the person wassomeone vicious, yet his aura did not show it. The man was average-looking. He was in his thirties, and there was a dark stubble on his face. However, he had a prosthetic leg. His right hand only had athumb and a pinkie. Evidently, his leg and fingers were chopped off when gambling back then.

“Did you just say I cheated? Haha! If you can provide proof, I’ll let you chop off my other leg,” said theman.

With that, he sat right in front of Casper. Although Casper was holding a gun, the man was stillgrinning.

Timothy said angrily, “You won every single round. How is this not considered cheating?” He turned toCasper and continued, “This guy won every game yesterday. My past self would have tied him up. Yet,right now, the members of Firewolf Chamber are fairly new. They’re quite easy-going, so they onlychased him out. I didn’t expect him to show up again today.”

“I came here to get my money. You lost one million two hundred thousand to me yesterday. When areyou going to pay me?” said the man with a smile.

How dare he still ask for money? My business came to a halt out of nowhere, and yet he still has theaudacity to do so. Timothy walked forward, wanting to beat up the crippled man. However, he wasstopped by Casper.

Casper put his gun away, then pulled a chair and sat in front of the man. “Just now, you said once asinner, always a sinner. Why is that so?”

The man was intrigued by Casper. After sizing up the latter, he said, “Gambling is a human’s fatal flaw.Whether they win or lose a game, they will want to continue making more money. This is a gambler’smentality.”

Pointing the remaining fingers of his right hand at his own eyes, the man said, “I’ve seen way too manyscenes like this. Gamblers would sell their houses, wives, and even their own organs just to gathermoney for gambling. There’s no humanity left in these bastards.”

Then, he turned around and pointed at the gamblers as he explained, “Look at these people. Pay closeattention to their eyes. You can tell that they’re severely addicted to gambling. Do you think they careabout their wives and children?”

Holding onto the table, he stood up slowly. As he had lost a leg, his body slightly swayed. He thenpointed at a middle-aged man and continued, “Try asking this man if he cares about his family. Also, ask him how many times his wife and children have begged him to stop gambling whenever he goeshome. Do you think their cries and pleas aren’t enough to move him?”

Agitated, the crippled man poked the middle-aged man’s chest and added, “He’s here despite all that. This is because he insists on gambling. It doesn’t matter how many times he’s been scolded or beaten

up; he refuses to quit gambling. Do you know why he doesn’t dare to talk back? It’s because he lostone hundred eleven thousand to me!”

Not a single gambler tried to refute him. Instead, they just continued smoking, looking like soullessshells.
